We started with the absolutely flavorful Etoufee - our favorite, but lots more great food was coming. Mama Lou's Gumbo was great - nice dark roux based just like it's supposed to be. Next was the Big Daddy Platter with fresh fried Shrimp, Catfish, and Oysters (we ordered more Oysters) with Waffle Fries and an extra side of Red Beans & Rice. All great! We finished (or did it finish us!) with Bourbon Street Bread Pudding and Key Lime Tart and fought over who was going to scrape up the last of what since we couldn't decide which we'd like better. This is the real deal, so do yourself a favor if you like Cajun and Creole food and run right over there. It's located next to what was The Big Fisherman on Hwy 188. It operates out of a huge food truck right next to a pretty grove of oak trees. We sat at a table with the sea breeze keeping us cool and enjoyed every bite.

They advertise a taqueria so I finally decided to check it out. The taqueria inside has a pretty full menu for a convenience store location. They had several meats for a taco plate, as well as some deep fried items (empanadas and fish). I went with a taco plate with barbacoa and pork, with flour tortillas. The meats were absolutely great. The barbacoa was tender and savory as it should be. The pork was delicious, lots of flavor. They have spicy and not-spicy versions (I had the not-spicy). The homemade tortillas had wonderful flavor. The rice and beans were not standouts but complemented the food well. Washed it all down with a Mexican Coke (they had pineapple agua fresca but I went with Coke that day). The location information for this place is kind of confusing. From the signage on the wall this place is Taqueria Yenii, and it is inside the H and M Food Mart. Google Maps has them in different places (next to each other) and closed. There's another listing in the same place. Not sure I know enough to sort it out. Some reviewers have complained that the store is dirty. It could use remodeling but I found it to be very clean inside (including the bathroom, though they were out of towels). The people were very nice, it seemed like there were a lot of regulars. This might go on my hidden gems list. But it's on the southwest corner of Spring Stuebner and Roseville, you can't really miss it.

We ordered one beef and one chicken gordita but got two chicken ones. Not a real big deal. The gorditas are quite generous, we actually split one. Two gorditas for $6 is quite a deal. They had firm shells, a little chewy but they held together well. Quite good. We got two 16 oz cups of corn because that was on special too. We have corn for days. It was delicious, if you like corn in a cup you will like this version. Cooked exactly right with great seasoning. The potato tacos were the highlight of the meal. You can only get these in a pack of 5. Crisp, deep-fried corn shells filled with tasty potato, Mexican cheese and an avocado slice. The contrast of the shells and filling was marvelous. Not my thing to make a meal out of but a great complement to a family meal. You should try them. The jamaica was a good version, nice and strong, and a large serving. The salsas came in little jewelry ziplocs. Tasted homemade. The red salsa is seriously hot, be careful with it. The green salsa is sharp and was good with the potato tacos. Overall it is for sure worth a try.

The fillings are quite delicious--they use enough salt for real flavor. The red and green salsas both have good flavor and taste homemade. Both are seriously hot, good if you like heat. Service was friendly. Try your Spanish if you have it. The convenience store is in better shape these days. They had a persistent sewage backup problem that appears to have been resolved, and the bathroom was reasonably clean and ready when I visited. They have a large area near the bathrooms with nothing in it except a couple of small tables to the side, and that's where you eat if you want to eat there. Overall I think the food is worth a try if you're there and hungry.

That was a nice gesture too. Now, on to the sausage. I didnt get a big hog, so just barely got 10lbs of sausage out of it. So i could not do 2 different flavors. So what they did was, combine hot and jalepeno together. Jalepeno is only for flavor here they said. So i combined em. It was probably the best sausage i have ever had. It was pretty spicy, but thats how we like it. My dad even thinks its the best he has had. No added msg, or flavorings. Just good clean spicy sausage. I did 80\20 of wild hog to their pork for some fat, but was not greasy even the slightest. They also vacuum sealed my pork in individual portions of steaks and backstraps for me, since i am pretry much the only one at home who eats wild game. That was so awesome they would do that for me, cause its a lot more work, but they didnt care. Perfect customer service. Hog ready in 3 days! I cant wait to try their deer sausage this year. They even have an overnight drop system if you come at off hours. Cant beat it, and price was good too. They are by far not even the closest processor to me, but they are the best i have tried, and open year round! I will be back soon. Can not wait. Glad i found you Jacksons, keep it up, see you soon!
