He explained everything that would happen and even had cameras set up so you could see what he was doing. I didn't think I would want to watch, it was actually quite fascinating. He worked quickly and was so positive about how it was going and how I was doing. The follow up from Dr. Simons was just as promised and when I had a question about my recovery he got back with me promptly. I highly recommend Dr Simons if you are needing dental work done!

Regardless of the course of action, he always thoroughly explains procedures and clearly defines my options and his recommendations. He is always thinking ahead to ensure improved outcomes. His knowledge is impressive and he's exceedingly skilled. He continually informs his patients of progress and results throughout the procedure. Moreover, he provides comprehensive and detailed post-procedure reports which greatly assist my general dentist with coordinated care. It is optional, but for those who care to, patients can view the doctor's expertise on a ceiling mounted, color monitor during the procedure. Personally, I find it fascinating, and I think it serves to eliminate assumptions and de-mystify perceptions. He has a calming 'bedside manner' and is extraordinarily friendly. Assistants Anika and Kyle instill additional confidence, and Front Office Manager Sala is terrific. All are very friendly and professional. I went to this office for a complicated root canal that required a specialist. I had an evaluation…read moreand CT scan, which cost me about $295 out of pocket because my insurance didn't cover it. I was then given an estimate for the root canal. When the office called to schedule the appointment, they told me there would also be a $365 charge for laser disinfection that wasn't covered by insurance. I declined the laser treatment when I arrived and asked if they could perform the root canal without it. They told me they would not perform the root canal unless I agreed to the laser treatment. I told them I was willing to pay the additional $365 if they would explain in writing why the laser was medically necessary for my particular tooth. They refused to provide anything in writing. At that point I felt trapped, having already paid nearly $300 for the CT scan, was told it could not be refunded, and gone through the preparation for the procedure. I was extremely unhappy with how the situation was handled. After I expressed my concerns to the dentist, she offered to refund the entire $660 I had paid. I accepted the refund and left without having the root canal done. I appreciate that the dentist ultimately refunded my money, which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. But I was very disappointed that I couldn't get a clear written explanation for why an additional $365 procedure was required before I could receive the root canal. My advice to other patients: make sure you understand not only what you're being charged for, but why each additional procedure is being required, before you commit to treatment.
