Incredible care. Dr. Boehne is the tooth whisperer. I had a tooth that was dentists told me needed to be removed. Saw Dr. Dan after he was referred to me. He took a 3D Xray and told me he could save my tooth. He uses a new technology called SonicWave that cleans out the tip of the root which usually gets infected. He did a fantastic job. It's been 8 years since he treated my tooth. My dentist took an X-ray la tween and commented that everything looks normal and there's not sign of residual infection. For someone like myself, going to a dentist is incredibly difficult and anxious. I was referred to Dr. Boehne by a few people for a root canal re-treatment. I can't tell you how scared I was that it wouldn't work and that I'd lose a tooth. Before coming to Dr. Boehne I had seen four other specialists who said they can't save the tooth and it needs to come out! I was a nervous wreck and not a pleasant patient the day of procedure, I also rescheduled it more than once... The absolute best experience start to finish!!!! I was referred to Dr. Boehne by my new dentist. Three years ago, I had two root canals done that had been bothering me on and off ever since I got them done. In my gut, I knew something had to be wrong for them to be hurting, sensitive to hot and cold, but my previous dentist kept telling me nothing was wrong and to give it more time to "heal". I then decided to try a new dentist who told me that I should go see Dr. Boehne. Dr Boehne then did some more detailed imaging to see what was going on, and he found that both of my root canals had infections down at, or near the bone. He confirmed my suspicion of something being wrong. He was so thorough with explaining to me what was going on and what needed to be done and his opinions. I have always been so fearful of anything to do with my mouth and procedures in my mouth. I was super anxious, but he gave me a lot of confidence and peace about it. We went ahead and redid both root canals and it was a couple different appointments. The front desk women are incredible. They are so sweet, personable and so kind. Loved seeing them each time. His dental staff was always so friendly. I wish I remember the gentleman who did my imaging's name because he was super funny and super sweet. I have never had such a calm experience in a dental chair in my life. The root canals did not hurt one bit, and I am dead serious when I say I could have taken a nap. I was so relaxed with my eyes closed and was trying not to fall asleep. If that doesn't tell you how gentle and smooth he works, I don't know what will! He explained to me what he was doing the entire way which I appreciated as well. Overall one of the best healthcare providers I have seen to date across all disciplines. He is agreeably far from my home geographically, but my general dentist kept persisting me to go visit him for a second opinion on a possible retreatment of a previous root canal I had received. It was great advice from my dentist and I am glad I made the appointment. The practice is very well run and the staff is competent and caring. Experiencing genuine care is hard to describe, but you definitely know it when you receive it and know it when you don't receive it. Dr. Boehne did a great job explaining his evaluation of my case as well as his professional opinions on the course of therapy. The root canal I received was comfortable and I had zero pain or ill effects after the treatment. The office staff continued to provide great support even after my visit with help on billing and insurance stuff. After an accident and minimally chipped front tooth we went to a dentist who advised us to get two root canals for the two upper front teeth and told us she could do it the next day, needless to say we looked for a second opinion. I saw Dr. Chu after being referred to this office by another dentist. I was almost certain that I needed a root canal on a tooth that I had just put a crown on 6 months ago. It hurt to drink cool water and after 3 days of severe aching I called to come in. They were able to get me in next day, took x-rays and performed the root canal in 2 hours. Everyone was great, the office was comfortable and I listened to a podcast during the procedure to relax. That was the least stressful dental experience with anesthetic I've ever had. After two days, my mouth feels great and haven't needed to take any pain medication. I can't think of how this experience could have gone any better. read more

After having cavity repair from my dentist in Ohio, I was having a lot of tooth pain following my trip out to spend the winter in the Dana Point area. It was recommended I consult with an Endodontist, so I researched references and was fortunate to find Dr. Boehne and Dana Point Endodontics. The office folks were friendly and helpful, confirming they accepted my Delta Dental insurance originating from Ohio. Although it was unfortunate my situation progressed to needing a root canal, the dreaded procedure turned out to be handled with care by Dr. Boehne, using the latest in best practice procedures known as GentleWave. I had very little pain during the procedure and greatly reduced tooth pain the day after. The timing was perfect as 3 weeks later I returned to Ohio and my local dentist took care of the permanent crown, using information and images provided by Dr. Boehne. I am now completely pain free and the tooth is functioning again. They even refunded some of my up front out of pocket cost once my insurance covered even the newer technology procedure. After never having to need a root canal, I was unsure what to expect... Thank you to Dr. Boehne and is staff for being well taken care of and well informed throughout the process. My situation consisted of pain in the lower back molar area. I had two fillings done by my regular dentist and my teeth had a little ache and cold sensitivity for a few months after, so he referred me to Dr. Boehne. Dr.Boehne's staff scheduled me in as early as possible. My first visited required x-rays to determine the root of the problem (no pun intended). After taking x-rays and testing, it looked like both teeth needed root canals, but it wasn't really clear so we decided to wait and see how they do (he didn't try to pressure me into treatment). After they continued to bother me, I knew I had to have something done so I went to see Dr. Boehne again. At the time it still wasn't really clear if both teeth needed root canals or not, and as you can imagine going from two fillings to two root canals is a big jump, so I was reluctant to do both, but I needed to do something to get better. Dr. Boehne let me know that most of the when someone gets a root canal its one tooth and he wanted to start with the tooth with the bigger filling, as I was reluctant to do two. Then he told me if the first one didn't make my pain go away completely, then he would do the second one...for free, because he thought that might have been the only one that was the main cause of my pain. Of course, I hoped that I didn't have to come back in for a second root canal, but the offer Dr. Boehne made shows his compassion and willingness to help. I did have to come in to have a root canal on the second one, and Dr Boehne was true on his word. Dr. Boehne also makes it a point to call and follow up after the procedure to see how things are going. If you ever need to have a root canal, this is the place to go, hands down. You will be treated with respect, be well informed of your options, and have the pleasure of meeting Dr Boehne who clearly has a heart of gold. I had the toothache from hell the other day. Worse pain than after my many c-sections, dude, I was dying. I made the painful decision to have all my teeth removed and put dentures in. I had a tooth that had been bothering me for close to a year. I figured I'd better do something about it before something bad happened. After searching the web and asking people where I should go to get this fixed, Dr Dan responded to one of my facebook messages from me asking where to go to get this root canal done. I knew Dr. Dan from growing up surfing. I knew he was a dentist but I had not been in touch with him for a while. I am not a big fan of drills and needles and had never had a root canal in my life. I was not exactly excited to sit in the chair but when I got to Dr. Dans office I saw how clean and nice it was in there and the friendly staff. Dr. Dan went over what he was gonna be doing and I felt a lot more at ease. I sat in the chair for a little more than an hour and I was up and out of their, I did not experience any pain from the drilling, My jaw hurt a bit because i had to keep it open for a long time but i did get a break to rest it.... 1 visit and I was done. I was back to normal by the next day and my tooth was like new again. I highly recommend Dana Point Endo. I drove from Carlsbad to see Dr. Dan in Dana Point. When you are dealing with your teeth and your health I will never cut corners or look for some cheap alternative like going to mexico, its not worth the risk. I was referred here by my dentist after I had been experiencing lots of pain in one of my filled molars for a couple weeks. I had never had a root canal and was not looking forward to it in the least, but Dr. Boehne put me totally at ease. I had the misfortune of recently needing 2 root canals (on separate teeth) within 3 days of each other. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Boehne and I will most definitely return if I ever need any Endodontics work in the future. I get anxious every time I hear the words root canal (like most people I assume) because of a previous experience with a root canal procedure years ago. During my first ever root canal, I wasn't completely numb and felt pain throughout the entire procedure. I was crying and the doctor just kept telling me she was almost done the whole time. However, this was a non-issue with Dr. Boehne. I was completely numb and pain free throughout the whole procedure (didn't even feel the needle when he was giving me the anesthetic...amazing). I really appreciated the fact that on both days when I came in to see Dr. Boehne, I was the last patient of the day for him and after it was determined that a root canal was necessary, he was more than happy to stay and do the procedure right on the spot. It was wonderful not having to go home in pain and wait until my next appointment to get some relief. I also appreciate that he took his time with me and I never felt I was being rushed out. He is extremely patient and makes sure to answer any and all questions before proceeding.
