Alright, I been to this place a couple times now and it's now worth a review. This place by far is one of the honest place I know that would actually charge a decent price. SERVICE: I went here a month ago to get my Dell Latitude D630 screw removed. Sadly, one of my screw was broken so I went to them for help. The technician gave me a quote up front and estimate on price. Which is really cool. Most places would charge whatever they feel like or upfront estimate cost. Took 2 days and they call you when your computer is ready to pick up. Good service, however they do not like other techie people here. This is however, a Computer Store.. Not your friend fixing your computer. Is hard to sturr up a good conversation especially the front door guy, Dave who rings up your total. He gave me a glare when I asked him questions about computers. Anyways, Its a good place if you want things done. They do a good job in the end overall. PARTS: Man, what can I say. Is messy here. If you are looking for the latest computer parts, don't look here. Everything ranges from an old school Pentium 4 to last years Core Series computers. If you want to build your own computer, go somewhere else. I asked them for a motherboard and they told me to hold on. I could see Dave going online checking the price and add +$15 for the demand. I bailed out because they only had one motherboard which sucked. However, if you have an old PC and want to upgrade, they have good prices on memory (OLD models). Usually, in the computer world. The older your computer, the more expensive parts will be. In Conclusion, good place to check out if you have problems like Hard Disk Crash or other computer related issues. I give it a 3 star because of the duration of time it took to extract a screw. 2 days for just one screw. It's essentially a good place for people who does not know a whole lot about computers. For people who do, pretend you don't. If you are here looking for parts, think twice before you reach your wallet and definitely check reviews before you buy anything. read more

This review is solely based on my experience with this shop.. I was skeptical to come in here at first because of the mostly negative reviews by other people, but I decided to take a chance on this place because 1)it's close to UCR and my house here in Riverside, and 2)because I didn't want to take it to a Geek Squad at Best Buy or some other larger repair company to get charged a few hundred dollars easily. I came in to get my power supply jack repaired because my computer wouldn't charge anymore. When I talked to one of the guys at the service desk, he diagnosed that it was the power supply jack and informed me that it would be about $192 to repair it with a 2-3 day turnaround. The next day, I waited for a phone call telling me the diagnosis and permission to go ahead and proceed with the repairs, but nothing. In my mind, I was thinking that the things said about this place in other reviews would be true. Anyways, I called today asking if my laptop would be ready for pickup since the guy who wrote up my service request form wrote down today's date (7/10/14) as the estimated completion date. He said it would be ready in about an hour after I had called. Long story short, I'm giving this place 5 stars because they repaired my laptop quickly, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, because I actually only paid about $107 for labor and parts, significantly lower than what I was originally told- an amount of $192. All I can say about the negative reviews is that maybe in that one particular instance, they had a bad experience. This is my 3rd time using Riverside Computer Center. The first time I was there, they upgraded my laptop with a new SSD, RAM, and Operating System. Despite all the work that needed to be done, were quick, they explained every step and they restored my laptop, which was slowing down, to a fast snappy state. The second time, I took my Macbook Pro in for overheating problems. They diagnosed the problem, repaired the laptop and I was on my way. Last week, my laptop starting giving me Java errors. Nothing I did resolved the issue and a key component of my workflow depended on internet based program that required java, so I brought my laptop in and they serviced it on the spot and did not charge me a rush fee. Dave is great, he is happy to answer questions, knowledgeable in the latest technology and a pleasure to do business with. I recommend Riverside Computer Center to anyone looking to purchase a new computer or repair an old one. read more

I left my computer because my boss is good friend of the owner 6 MONTHS AGO! Dave took 1 month for the diagnosis and 5 without any answer about my computer. This is the worst service i ever see in my life. I didn't want to complain because this guy is friend of my boss, but 6 months without my computer... this is ridiculous! I'm start thinking I won't see it anymore. Please, go away from here, if this is the service that he gives to his friends i cannot guess the service for others. His price is 380 and apple store is 700 but it worth it, apple store fix it the same day. Dejé mi computadora hace seis meses allí porque mi jefe es un buen amigo del propietario, 6 MESES!!! I created a Yelp account just to review this establishment. It was that bad. Reading the other positive reviews, I can't help but wonder if the proprietors themselves wrote them, or perhaps their friends did in order to boost up there reputation. Needless to say, my experience has been nothing but negative. I completely agree with James C. In his review. If I could give a lower rating, I would. I do not at all feel comfortable with the way in which this place conducts business, and I will do my best to dissuade you from using this place for it's repair services. I'll share my experience: I was having problems with my screen, as there was only a black screen present. I gave them my computer, agreed to pay the diagnostic fee of $48, and they told me it would take around 3 business days to diagnose the problem. I am extremely busy with work and school, and I therefore trusted them to do their job. 2 weeks later without a word, I called them up. They told me 3 more days. I should mention right now in my review that the gentleman who worked there, the one I interacted with at least (I assume it was Dave, the manager) was quite rude on the phone, and in person as well. This was a little surprising to me; I was, after all, a paying customer. Whenever calling their shop, a message plays, saying "This call may be recorded in order to ensure the best possible customer service." Despite this, the manager was surprisingly lacking in social skills. It took nearly 4 weeks for them to do a diagnostic, which is unbelievable. I finally decided to call it quits. I paid the $48 dollar diagnostic fee, and decided to wash my hands of this business. Do yourself a favor and please go to a more professional shop. These guys don't know what they are doing. NOTE: A quick little update: I took my computer to a reputable dealer. With one hour (ONE HOUR) they were able to diagnose the problem quickly. When I first walked in to the Riverside Computer Center, I was overwhelmed by the store's decor. There was a Vincent Van Gogh inverted face, a computer monitor that served as a fish tank, and even a huge 80's hard drive. I was then met by Dave, who was a pleasant guy. We had an interesting conversation, I dropped off my Macbook, and all went well. A few days later they called me and told me my computer was ready. I picked it up for 48 dollars and it was working well. They charged me an hourly rate of $48 dollars, but they do not include diagnosing the symptom of the computer in the charge. I highly recommend this place to any UCR student and anyone else in need of a fix; this place is close, cheap, and convenient. read more

Called the store looking to replace a hard drive and man....... the guy that answered was unbelievably rude. Almost as if he was trying to be an A**hole on purpose. There were times I laughed in between conversation because i couldn't tell if he was being serious or not. I get that he probably knows more about computers then the average person, but that doesn't mean you should talk to me like your superior in some sort of way. Legit everything I said that related to computers he was correcting it in such a pretentious tone. God forbid I call the monitor a "Screen" - "Wrong it's actually a Visual Optical Retina Display." This place was horrible. My first and last time going here. The man with the long hair in the front desk is very unapproachable. He was very rude when I asked him a question, which is weird because I'm your customer. The man who handles the computer repairs seemed like he knew what he was doing, but I was wrong. He does not know how to work with the Mac book air or an ultra book type of laptops. The diagnosis fee is ridiculously because I have found places where they do that for free or with a lower price than like 48 bucks. They pretty much ruined my laptop. This place they will either destroy your laptop or fix it and in a couple of months your laptop will be broken. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

This is my first time as a customer for computer repair and it will be the last. I didn't even end up getting my computer fixed! I initially went in to talk to someone in the beginning of January and here it is the 29th and they haven't even given me an update of any kind. So I decided to go in today and take my stuff back (I SHOULD HAVE WEEKS AGO). Yes computer repair can take a little longer, but just the diagnosis not a whole month! I've been going in at least twice a week to check in up on the repair but was met with "oh should be 2-3 more days" or "oh our technician is gone at the moment." Most disconcerting of all is the tall, skinny gentleman with long white hair and a beard. He is one of the most self-righteous grammar/syntax people I have ever met. I went to get my computer fixed, not get schooled in your "proper-sounding" English. Ugh, this is one month of my life I will not get back. Stay away if you don't want to lose your sanity. read more

This place is honestly horrible. Beware do not take it to this place. I usually do not write reviews, but this one definitely earned a bad rating. First off, I took my ultra book laptop in to the place to fix my screen which would only work if held in the right position. I decided to go to this place because I read the reviews on yelp and the convenience of having the place be right near ucr. They gave me a diagnosis test for 48 dollars which is a little pricey compared to other places. After hearing the diagnosis, I went ahead and let him fix my computer and paid roughly around 200. After two weeks and half ( which is a ridiculous amount of time) they decided to called me saying they need more money because they accidentally broke my LCD cable cord of my laptop. They tried to blame the fact that my laptop was poorly made. In fact my laptop is just a year old, so it's not poorly made but more like they never worked with an ultra book / ultra thin laptop. They wanted to charge me 400 dollars total to fix the whole laptop, because they broke my LCD cord. I was furious. I decided to go in an not go forward with fixing my laptop. Pretty much when I got my laptop back they broke it to the point where I can not use it anymore. On top of that they still made me paid the diagnosis fee. I gave 1 star since it is the lowest option. I brought my laptop here for an issue where the screen was black on A Thursday with a promise of a diagnostic by the following Monday. By Wednesday I called and was told "we are hammered and will get to it by tomorrow." I tried calling A week later and was told "we are hammered and will get to it tomorrow" again. Well finally after 2 weeks were told the mother board was bad. Approved replacement. Another week later was told the CPU was bad too. Approved the replacement of it. After another week it was now 4 weeks, you read right 4 weeks. And now was told there are additional issues and we are totally confused regarding what is wrong. Finally asked for all put back as it was, and was charged the diagnostic fee of 48 dollars to get it back. Brought it somewhere and ended up being a LCD issue the same day and works perfectly now without any parts. read more

After my horror story at Hyperlink (see review), I called around to other shops to see if they had an adapter for my laptop. I called here and to be honest the man who I spoke to on the phone sounded a little rude (do not let this put you off). Still, he said that he said that he had the exact Dell manufactured part that I needed, so I came in. The shop itself is a nerd's play land (I'm a self-described nerd, so it's not meant in a derogatory way). Aside from them having a huge location filled with just about any computer part that you might need, they have cool stuff like sci-fi things and older machines with their chassis' off so you can see the guts/circuitry. They also had multiple sarcastic signs and posters around, so I understood the reason why the guy I had spoken with on the phone had been a little curt with me. They did have the part that I needed and tested it to make sure that it worked. While they were ringing me up I asked a question about the part that I had gotten at Hyperlink that didn't work and they told me that it wouldn't have worked, and why it wouldn't work. What they told me were the exact same issues that I had with the part from Hyperlink. In a nutshell they could stand to be more chipper on the phone, but their knowledge and expertise is far from lacking.
