Loveable local spot. Great prices, great quantity, and great food. From the outside you can't tell much, as it's part of a strip mall unit; however, once you enter it's like a small-town, home style diner. Seat yourself, and the waitress will find you. The entire back wall is a chalkboard filled with specials and popular items to order. Pancakes are bigger than my head! The menu has a long list of combo meals, ranging from adult to child portions. I had potato soup and it had no salt nor was it warm. It was cold, disgusting, watery, and undercooked with lumps of potatoes. Also, the steak was very tough and basically impossible to eat. Nothing here is salted or seasoned, it's basically all just fried cardboard. The restaurant is not very hygeinic and overall disappointing every time I've gone. I've had breakfast here before too, and it was ok, but not great. Just don't get anything other than breakfast and you should be fine. read more

Cool place to experience a derby church crowd on the weekends. I like the prompt service and hot coffee. The food is good, service is better and the atmosphere is great. Have been here before- it's a place that- because of the food- I would definitely return- Has some high and low points- I think the owner told me one time the Potato Soup is a recipe from the long closed Dutch's Cafe on Lincoln&Washington(The Presidential Corner) it is a simple recipe that is so good-it's not thick but I like it that way- perfect! I have had their Hamburger usually with a good portion of Crispy hash browns- I usually get my favorite- a split and grilled hot link with a side of 3 link sausage(they are good- not the dried up links) 2 eggs over medium - hash browns- toast or sometimes a grilled(not wtoasted) english muffin and coffey- good portion sizes too- I asked the waitress how much is an extra hot link and she said $5 dollars- wow what a joke- she couldnt tell me why- I told her you can buy a lb of bacon with change leftover for that- she did not see the logic tho- the low points of that location are the dark colors of paint job- the ugly tile floor- booths that need replacing- a counter top bar that needs updating- bathrooms that need gutted and remodeled- too much wall clutter in entryway- a too small dated TV- and a general deep cleaning- it could be remodeled and keep its character- I doubt it will be done as it would be expensive- will see- overall- if you keep all that in mind go there- I will return read more

If you like the original riverside location then you will love this one too. The food is still very good with a wide range of American classics. The only thing that can't match the original Riverside location is the atmosphere. I always felt like I was walking into the 1950s, where as this one suffers from being located in a strip mall. We always come here for the hamburgers and French fries. A load of thick cut fries (with the skins on) and a 1/2 lb hamburger pattie on a delicious bun. No fast food wannabes allowed! Comparing Golden Corral in Enid and Riverside Café in Derby, Ks My spouse and our Granddaughter want to have a family day on Sundays. Today they wanted to go out for brunch at "Golden Corral" here in Enid, Oklahoma. Since they are advertising brunch until two in the afternoon, and it was eleven thirty, why not? I didn't consider the possibilities is why not. We got there well before noon and got our table. Our drinks and silverware arrived quickly and I went to the omelet bar. After standing there with nobody working the station for a while, I stopped the manager. I asked if the omelet bar was being worked. He replied that it was and I told him there was nobody at it. He went into the kitchen and I could hear him say somebody needed to man it. He left the kitchen and time passed. Now, at this point, I might remind folks that I am over seventy years old and handicapped. I can walk short distances, but standing for long times is very painful. By this time some ten to fifteen minutes had passed. I gave up and went to get the pre-scrambled eggs, some bacon and hash browns. No bacon being served, no hash browns. I settled for scrambled eggs, one biscuit with sausage gravy, ham and an Italian sausage from the sausage and peppers. My bad. The "Golden Corral" cooks their scrambled eggs until there is no moisture left in them at all. Then they put them over a hot bath to dry them out even further. They were egg jerky. The ham was baked dry also. This may be the traditional way to cook wherever this chain started out. Because the Italian sausage was also dry as a bone. The biscuit was about a quarter of an inch thick and crisped through. The only redeeming bit on my plate was the sausage gravy. I broke the biscuit in half horizontally and smothered it in the gravy. I don't want to say this was the worst breakfast I have ever had, but it is in the top two. I saw a cook get shanked for better food than this in a Texas prison. The topper on this is the price. For two seniors, one adult and three drinks the total came to over fifty dollars. At "Riverside Café" in Derby, Kansas, you can get the "Hungry Man" breakfast for $12.99. It consists of three breakfast links (Big, moist, well flavored links), three slices of crisp, not overcooked, bacon, three sausage patties larger than an English Muffin, three eggs cooked to order, three slices of buttered toast, average hash browns (nobody is perfect), and your choice of a half order of biscuits and sausage gravy (full sized biscuits) or a pancake that has to have a separate plate. For three I would have gotten out for thirty nine dollars. A savings of over ten to fifteen dollars and an immensely more palatable breakfast. The cost of the drive would have been worth it. read more

We loved this place. The food is amazing, the staff is nice, we even like the small-town, slightly dated decor. We planned to go here every week for the rest of forever, but then...one visit there were a couple squished cockroaches in the bathroom. Next visit, two squished cockroaches on the tiles leading into the kitchen, as well as two in the bathroom. Last time we went, I realized there was food stuck to the inside of my glass after I'd finished drinking it, my husband got dirty silverware, and there were three cockroaches under the bench that sits outside the bathroom. This is where you go when you want the true DINER atmosphere. I love going here. It's true, it's in a 'boring' stip mall, not like the cute building at it's original location in Wichita. But once inside - it's really the way a restaurant should look! And the wait staff is amazing . The food is average - mostly we go to Riverside Cafes for breakfast only. But we will be trying some lunch and dinner foods soon. It's the kind of place where the staff quickly recognize you as a 'regular'. Food was pretty typical for a small diner. That said they have a large selection and it was delicious. There was a short wait but the service was quick and the staff very friendly. One thing to note however is the up charge for toast and side potatoes when ordering. My daughter and I ordered the Hungry Woman combo to share and the server asked all the usual questions (how do you like your eggs, white or wheat, biscuit or pancake, hash browns or fried potatoes) and we just rattled off our selections only to have $1.99 up charge for the toast and the same for hash browns. Same with my brother who ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. Now it may have been (and probably is) noted somewhere on the menu that there are extra charges for certain items however I never noticed it. Not a huge deal or a deal breaker but if your not expecting extra charges it could be problematic. All in all, good food .... decent prices .... and a cosy retro-ish ambiance will probably bring us back. read more
