Needed to try something new, and as season ticket holders for Wichita Thunder, we had a free appetizer to Little Buster's so this is where we landed last night. The restaurant is very big! Which is nice! Lots of arcade games and plenty of televisions for game days. They were out of buns and toast for most of the menu items so I had the bacon cheeseburger macaroni and cheese. Disclaimer: I don't like MOST restaurant style Mac n Cheese so this is a very unusual order for me - and it makes me slightly biased in a slightly bad way... but for what it's worth, the flavor was great! It had a wonderful spicy kick! But you have to eat it quickly... maybe that's my issue- I don't like to eat fast. Anyways, it was good "adult" Mac and Cheese but given another option I would have taken it for sure. Hubs had the Regular Cheeseburger with a pretzel bun since they were out of the regular buns and toast options. He didn't mind as pretzel buns are his absolute favorite. He noted that the cheeseburger was excellent. Cooked well. Not overly greasy. Not too big, not too small. All the condiments were included. He had no complaints. His side: tater tots, which were cooked to golden perfection. For our appetizer we opted for the spicy cheese curds. They were super tasty! The menu has tons of options as far as burgers, Mac n cheese, sandwiches, and appetizers. There are some salad options and chicken strips too. There is also a kid menu. The service was very quick! I really wanted to like this place. I've been eyeballing it for years, and the menu choices are very appealing to my taste buds, but it was just a huge miss for me. Did I order some of their weaker items? Was it because I tried them via delivery? Guess I'll never know, I don't plan to try them again honestly. I tend to reserve 1/5 star ratings for truly egregious experiences, but Little Busters is just barely better than that at a 1.5. Buffalo chicken mac and cheese: Holy false advertisement. I wish I had taken pictures, but it was just a nasty, congealed looking mess-- not even close to the picture advertised. The cheese sauce was a pale greyish yellow and just not appetizing looking at all, and was hardened like rotel dip that sits out too long and develops that film processed cheese tends to develop. I only live 10 minutes away, so it was shocking to see the presentation. The Buffalo chicken was not coated well in Buffalo sauce. Lots of gaps where you could see the normal plain breading. Buffalo chicken wrap: First, it was just made incorrectly. Zero Buffalo sauce so I thought perhaps I had received the other wrap which has ranch in it. No ranch either. It was wrapped very poorly/loosely and even with toothpicks the contents just immediately fell out. The wrap itself was very dry. 60% tortilla, 30% iceberg lettuce, 10% chicken. Full bites would just be nothing but tortilla and lettuce and there was soooo little actual chicken in it. Super disappointing and I didn't finish it. Spicy turkey wrap: Much the same presentation as the Buffalo wrap. Totally messy but this one happened to be drenched in dressing. Also the same issue with portions within the wrap. Very little turkey and cheese and the bottom third of the wrap had neither-- it was all tortilla and lettuce. My husband had made that comment all on his own before I could point it out. He DID say the flavor wasn't bad though. Corn dog nuggets: Hard to mess up something that was probably just taken out of a box in the freezer. Edible. Cottage cheese: Decent portion but also hard to mess up when it's a ready-made item. Tator tots: A mushy mess. I get it, potatoes get soggy. I would fully expect it if I lived 20 or 30 minutes away but again, I live 10 maybe less away. Thank goodness my air fryer saved them otherwise I honestly think I would have thrown it away. Containers: I normally never ever comment on the packaging food comes in, but wow was it bad. They use some kind of most likely recycled paper product versus Styrofoam. On one hand. Better for the environment. On the other hand. Any dish with moisture or steam causes the packaging to collapse and not hold its shape. The packaging could BARELY hold the weight of the mac and cheese and I had to support the bottom with two hands so it wouldn't collapse and spill out to one side or the other. This place has many other decent reviews so I'm not blind to the fact that my bad experience might be a fluke but really there was just no part of this meal that even tempts me to try it again. On every level from taste, to presentation, to portions was just a huge let down. read more

Disgusting. Staff is like having a bunch of stuck up bratty HS girls even tho they are MUCH older. The ones that have been there a long time including the shit owner will treat you horribly. The food is disgusting. Their only saving grace is that they don't have competition in this small town and a couple male bartenders that are awesome. The owner is shady and rude. We stopped by Little Busters for a quick bite to eat and since my family in town enjoys it we came. I got the loaded quesadilla and it was delicious. Their waffle fries are really good as well! The staff were friendly and the environment was great. They have good music playing and you can enjoy sports on many TVs with Darts and a few pinball machines. If I lived closer this would be a regular spot for my husband and I to enjoy some food and drinks. I'll be back next time in town! read more

The service is normally pretty good. The food is hit and miss. The taco salad is great, but the burgers are so-so. Fully stocked bar, and they have specials all the time. Pool tables are a great addition, but they need some new pool cues. The trivia night is fun, and they have plenty of TV's. It's a good place to eat and/or drink during the day or night. The outside dining is a good idea. Definitely a place we go a few times a month. read more

The more times I have been the more impressed I am with this place. It is unassuming and easy to miss, but you should make a plan to go check it out. Again, the burgers are killer! My review is for the food. I had the Taco Salad, as it was the special for the day. Thank goodness it was a special because I would not have liked to pay full price for the very little meat they put in the salad. It was mostly lettuce with some tomatoes, black olives , and jalapeños. I had to dig around to find the meat. Disappointing. My husband got the club and said it was very greasy and they had put too much butter on the bread. I did like the crispy mushrooms. I doubt I'll eat here again. read more

Just reopened. Went there at lunch to check out all the changes. Positives: 1 brighter 2 cleaner 3 love the floor 4 love that the drop ceiling is gone 5 water was good 6 fries were good Negatives: 1 bar is still cut in half by the bar 2 service is still bad 3 hamburger was burned and dry, server never came back by to check in on us after he delivered two burned hamburgers. Comments: Was hoping for a step up in food quality. Would like to have seen upscale hamburgers like 5 guys, Red Robin, anchor, bricktown brewery, oasis. So I am from Arizona here to help clean out my Moms house and needed a serious break. Drove into Derby looking for a beer and a burger. Ended up here. Wasn't super busy and service was a bit slow given it wasn't busy. Well burger had absolutely no flavor and the waffle fries would have been good except they were cold. Despite the "Best Burger in Derby" accolades. I am here to tell you it's NOT! Typical Kansas and it's low expectation of what the rest of the country gets right and good! read more

If it's not broken don't try to fix it. I have tried this establishment five times since changing owners. I've been disappointed each and every time. Whether it's poor customers service or quality of food I've received all the above on each visit. Very disappointing when a pillar restaurant in the community is no longer available due to these changes. All that being said the atmosphere has improved. read more

The food is really very good, it always has been. However, I want to echo what some other people are saying. The removal of the drop ceiling exposing the bare concrete ceiling was a horrible idea. The noise in this place is literally ear-splitting. I cannot have a conversation with anyone in there. I seriously find it intolerable, and always get my food order to go. The waitstaff and bartenders are attentive and nice, and I repeat that the food is great, The burgers in particular are top notch. But to hang out for any length of time? Forget it. read more

I always show up late at night and the Bartenders are always attentive. I don't stay long, but the beer is usually ice cold. Have not tried the food but I hear the wings are awesome. Best to go on Sunday when they are only 75 cents. I agree the music is kind of loud, but hey, your in a bar. Will try the wings and give an update. read more

I went to Little Buster's frequently until moving out of state a couple of years ago. The food, service, and atmosphere were great. I can't believe how awful the new owners have made what used to be the best place in Derby. It is now just a stupid loud echo chamber. The new owners have removed every trace of sound dampening material and turned up the volume multi-fold. It is impossible to carry on a conversation without yelling. The service was awful. It took an unexplained long time to get our meal. When indicating I did not want a refill of my not yet finished drink towards the end of our meal, the waitress actually picked up my glass and took it away before I even realized what had happened. This while we still had finished plates still on the table. A terribly disappointing experience overall. I won't be back. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY THE OWNER!!! We came in around 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon to an essentially empty sports bar and were greeted with "that whole side (of the bar) is reserved for a party." Are you the party?" Then we asked if he could accomodate around 25 people for about an hour (for a baseball team meeting.) And, although he seemed bothered by it, he said yes and pushed six 4-person tables together. Then when the players and their families started to filter in he was upset because they were also sitting at other tables that hadn't been pushed together. We ended up having a lot more than 25 people, most of whom were going to be ordering food and he stood to make A LOT of money on a dead Saturday afternoon. However, the owner just stood off to the side and gave us all the stink-eye, so most of us just opted to leave and take our business elsewhere. Little Busters used to be fantastic...however, the new owner has certainly changed that! I will NEVER go back!!! read more
