Came here during my Philly visit. Very authentic and great-tasting Portugese dishes here, highly recomnmended by brother-in-law. Grilled salmon has a lot of yummy vegs. Seafood paella cooked to al dente and has great flavor, mussells are plump and juicy, not overcooked. This place clearly specializes in seafood! Food and service excellent. However, the prices on the menu are NOT correct. Bill came and it was 15 dollars more than on the menu! I questioned it and the server was gracious however she was looking at an app and said the prices had increased. If that is the case they should advise people that! They need to update the menu prices as well as their web prices! No problem with the food - big problem with the lack of correct pricing. read more

I am sad to have to write this review. I'm not sure if Riverside BBQ got new owners or management... I usually go here once a month and the food is phenomenal. It's been about two months since I've been here ordered food last night for me and my kids. The four piece flat iron steak platter only came with two pieces of steak. The shrimp platter had about 10 times the amount of garlic they normally use, every single thing was cold (I picked up my food and live 3 min away) except the fries were luke warm, the kids could not even eat the steak because it was so chewy. The shrimp had an expired taste maybe this is why they put so much garlic. I'm currently sitting here the next day feeling like I have food poisoning. Used to be my favorite restaurant in Riverside but sadly, I don't think I'll be returning. $80 worth of food in a real restaurant should never be fastfood quality. read more

This is a basic bbq spot whose food is anything but basic. Went there with a group of friends and ordered "family " style. We had the combo meals that had some of everything and everything was delicious. We ordered additional sides of beans which were super delicious. I was looking for BBQ spots in the area and Riverside BBQ came up. To my surprise as I arrived it was a Brazilian BBQ spot, Rodizio Style. They didn't serve alcoholic beverages but it's BYOB and there is a liquor store right next door. Clean restaurant, great staff. The guy that set me down told me the different ways you can order. 1 A La Carte (if you just sampling one item) 2 Combos (if you a little hungry) 3 Buffet style (combo if you want to unbutton your pants on your way to the car) I went for buffet style, since it was my first time I wanted to try everything. If I had to give this review a title Jeckyll & Hyde of Restaurants. One day the food is good and priced Fairly. The next time the food is mediocre and the price is through the roof. I think they make up the prices as they go. For example, I sent my daughter in with instructions to get rice, beans and picanha (similar to sirloin) and sausage. My daughter came out with 2 thin slices of picanha and a little bit of rice. They charged her $5.00. They told her they were closing after allowing her to get the rice. It was a robbery in my opinion. I guess this is how the restaurant is getting it's stimulus check by over charging customers. I'm not going back. The positive is that the picanha was good, but isn't worth it. read more

Delicious and not that expensive. I don't know why people say it is expensive. I always order the combo for 2 which is a reasonable 25. You get steak, chicken, ribs, rice, beans and fries for 2 people. Very filling. The chicken is tender and easy to eat. So are the ribs. Steak is thin and somewhat tough but edible. The rice and beans are perfect: smoky and comforting. Always have rice and beans left over. It's comfort food at a reasonable price. I guess people want McDonald's pricing? Whatever. This is a message to the owners of this restaurant: I am a customer of this establishment going back almost 10 years. It was great under the ownership/management of Mrs. Celeste, then under Mr. Mauro once he acquired the restaurant a few years ago. Right after Mr. Mauro sold the restaurant to the current owners we starting seeing a downgrade in the quality of the food (cheaper groceries?) as well as a total lack of management. The staff is great but they are clearly without leadership. Where are the owners? Have you lost interest? Honestly this place surprises you. When you first walk in there is a front room so you get confused as yo where are you going to sit. But there is a whole back dine in restaurant in the back. So if it's your first time here just keep that in mind. Also their food is wonderful. I love Portuguese food so I might be biased but the flavors of any dish you order are phenomenal. I have tried the chicken francaise, the steak on a rock (I'm pretty sure that's not what's it's called but we are gonna go with it), the spicy shrimp, and normal bbq chicken. All entrees come with rice and french fries and also a salad. This place is also BYOB btw (there is a liquor store right next door just in case). The most flavorful Brazilian food and the portions are huge! When I have went to Brazilian bbq/ steakhouses before, Fogo De Chao and Chima, the food was plentiful but were under seasoned and bland. The food at riverside bbq was seasoned excellently. I ordered a combo for 35.00 and it came with ribs, 2 types of steak, sausage, and two types of chicken. along with rice beans and french fries. All the food was delicious, the meats oh my, even the french fries were delicious on their own I didn't even use ketchup. The portions were so big that the combo together with the rice and french fries could be shared and I have a big appetite, but I finished it and enjoyed the portion. We ordered mussels in garlic sauce and that was delicious. You could taste the skill of the cooking in it because even though fresh garlic was used it was not a pungent garlic flavor, rather it was a complex flavor of garlic, of another sweet component, and an additional flavor that I'm not sure what it was made olive oil and some more ingredients. I would highly recommend this gem of a restaurant we had a truly fantastic experience. read more

What a wonderful meal four of us had here last night. Sampled so many things - grilled octopus, garlic shrimp, paella, grilled top sirloin, pork & clams w/potatoes, and barbecued chicken. Each entree was delicious, seasoned perfectly, generously portioned and served with a smile. BYOB & they'll supply the corkscrew and ice bucket. Try the flan or "deliciouso" for dessert. Great restruarant! Went here for my Mother's birthday. Please dont be fooled by the outside scenery. It is very deceiving, my family almost didn't want to come in (which is ridiculous). But I convinced them. The restruant is actually bigger and there is a back with more tables and simple decorations that still gave a restruant vibe. This place is not only take-out, they definitly create an enviroment for eat-ins. The service was amazing. Our waitress was polite and helped us pick our dishes since we were not Portuguese which was helpful. The food was finger licking good and the portion size was even better. The ribs were so well seasoned, I just kept on licking my fingers. My mother and sister shared the steak combo and received 4 jumbo sized steaks. My mother couldn't describe how good the steak was. The best dish of the night had to be the appetizer. The shrimp with garlic sauce WAS perfect. We had to order another side of just the sauce to put it on our rice and meats. It was that good. I recommend anyone there to also try the Portuguese soda, I've never tried a soda that tasted so natural. I loved it. We tried practically all of the desserts and it was also good. I will definitely be coming back here and try out more dishes. It was good to spend a night out with my family but also prove them wrong. Don't judge a book by its cover! I'm Portuguese and I am used to the great quality and experience from any Portuguese restaurant. This place is the complete opposite of that. I placed an order and when i arrived for pick up, they had nothing for me. Then, they went ahead a threw together a few things for me as i was there waiting. When I arrived home to open up all the food, it was horrible. i had to serve this sub-par food to my guests. They cut up their ribs to make it seem like there is a lot, but its actually not. There prices do not match what you are getting. Expensive for absolutely nothing. I was excited to find this Portuguese restaurant in my area. But, now I am just super embarrassed i trusted these people to serve my guests. I will continue to look for a better Portuguese restaurant in my area. DO NOT BOTHER GOING HERE! read more

The best Portugese food in south jersey! We've eaten in and gotten take out many times over the past couple of years, and each time the food is consistently great. Our favorites are: clams in cilantro sauce, seafood paella, grilled salmon, grilled swordfish, grilled Bronzino. Basically if you love fresh, simply prepared fish, this is the place. Always end with homemade flan and coffee! The lady owner is super friendly and hardworking. We are sad that she's sold the business, and the restaurant will be under new ownership. Amazing food! Just moved down south and was not able to find BBQ so close to home anymore. Took the drive to Riverside from Eastampton and soooo worth it! My wife and I come here once every week or two for the chicken and ribs combo - it is so good! We love the Portuguese BBQ flavor and the rice that comes with it. It is about 1/2 hour from our house so we aren't in often enough to try other items, but the chicken, ribs and rice are highly recommended. We always get takeout, and I am not sure if they have soda on tap here, so plan to spend a few $ on drinks if you eat your meal here. read more

We have dinner here at least once a week. We even host our Christmas party here every week. Chef Mauro definitely has the best home-cooked meals. He is super friendly and accommodating. He will even let us know when he will have something special on the menu coming up. The Bacalao Grilhado is a true feast. Try the Spanish (round) potatoes, they are the BEST. read more

This woman-owned, BYOB restaurant is one of the best in the area. The owner makes everything in-house and from scratch including the salad dressing, the bread and the to-die-for fruit tart which should be ordered in advance or it might be sold out by the time you get there. Portions are huge (plan on leftovers!) and the prices are very reasonable. Do not miss the fried potatoes--a combination of potato chips and french fries. The grilled food and the paella are excellent. They also have a large take-out business. You need to visit this place and tell your friends to get there as well. read more
