It's okay. It's in a very convenient place and the outside eating place is well set up, despite being right by traffic and being super loud. My mom and I could not have a conversation that didn't involve yelling, since they blast music in the enclosed space. Service was good, nice people working there, but my main gripe is their prices. I'm not sure why half a sandwich is $10+ and it does not come with chips or even a damn pickle. I want to support local but not when they have delusional prices. For a 24 oz iced coffee, a half sandwich and a full sandwich (which is literally 2 regular sized loaves of bread, mind you) we paid $64 plus tip.

The cafe is conveniently located on Cannary Way in Sumner. We placed a breakfast order online and it was quick and easy. We ordered a Hot Mess, Country Hobo and a Breakfast Burrito. Rivers Edge Cafe is cute and homey.

Oh the turkey bacon melt on sourdough was wicked good. Also had a half garden salad with ranch and the tomato and olive portions were my favorite. If I lived here, this would be myyyyy spot!

I've been wanting to try this place for ages! I ordered online and picked it up. It was a smooth process and the gal working the window was sweet and repeated the order with my special requests. I ordered the Cuban (adding onions) and a Roast Beef deli type sandwich. It's too bad they don't come with anything ordering a whole sandwich (which run about $10-15). I thought they would have a variety of typical salads (pasta, slaw, mac etc) to offer but only saw potato salad on online menu. Ok about the sandwiches! They were both delicious! Happy to see they didn't skimp on the meat due to cost. The pulled pork on the Cuban had a mild smoked flavor which I thought was perfect, tender and all the components were flavorful. Hubby really enjoyed his roast beef/provolone saying it reminded him of a deli he loved in his teen years. He said next time he'd request cheddar to stand out more but overall pleased with it. We'd both order them again. I'm a soup lover, I noticed they offer one soup of the day so I'll ask about that next time. I also love sausage biscuits/gravy which they offer, she said breakfast is awesome so can't wait to try that too soon. Nice that they offer some outdoor seating. We will be back!

This is a busy place and after visiting I know why. The staff are helpful and patient with every new guest. Recommend items and overall just a great customer experience. The food is very good the sandwiches are amazing and we now know where we will go for a good salad. Right here for sure. You can dine in or outside and it is perfectly situated in a large parking lot so access is not an issue. Highly recommended stopping by for coffee, a beer, breakfast, lunch, actually anything you get will be great.

This place is amazing. Looks like a coffee stand, but has amazing food. We go here for breakfast at least twice a month. The breakfast burritos are amazing and my wife likes the biscuits and gravy. They also have really good bagels. I have also had the Chicken Caesar wrap, egg salad sandwich, and more of the lunch items, and they are all great. This place obviously takes pride in what they serve people. I hope that doesn't change. Thoroughly impressed read more

We had a great late lunch at River Side Cafe. The restaurant is small but the food is excellent. My husband enjoyed the ham breakfast scramble and I had the daily special which was a large bowl of cheddar broccoli soup and 1/2 of a ham & Swiss sandwich. They serve breakfast all day. Would give this place 10 stars if possible. My aunt and I come here often to sip on mimosas and occasionally a bite to eat. I love everything I have had here the pesto sand. The Cuban sand. Biscuits and gravy. The pastrami sand. The French dip sand. And the Caesar salad. As I said we go often :) the service is always great the owners are both very friendly people and the girls who work the counter are always so so so welcoming and kind. Nice little place right by The Cannery. Very nice modern industrial atmosphere. Great music playing overhead. I ordered the turkey bacon avocado sandwich. It arrived in short time even though the place was half full around lunch time. The bread was lightly toasted and there was a pickle wedge on the side that was chilled and crunchy. Not too filling but very tasty! Overall, a great place to eat. They serve breakfast and also have some beer on tap. read more

Excellent sandwiches and cold local beer! My wife had the Club, my son the French Dip, my daughter had the Turkey kids meal, and I had the Cuban. All of us kept raving about how GOOD these sandwiches were. All the ingredients were exceptional top tier and it's clear a lot was made in-house. Combined with a large selection of cold local beers and non-alcoholic drinks, and this is now top of the list for a weekend lunch spot. Don't sleep on this one. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite today and was pleasantly impressed with this little spot next to the Old Cannery. We got 2 club sandwiches on sourdough and a chicken bacon wrap. Definitely one of the best sandwiches I've ever had...loaded with meat and the price was very reasonable. Will definitely be back supporting this cafe!!! read more

Used to be on point and I like the staff and seating outdoors. Seems they are busier lately and dont have as much time to be thorough. Asking for any subs or changes on an online order is ignored. Too much meat and too much mayo on their sandwiches. read more

This is THE place to go for amazing sandwiches. So far I've had the chicken pesto (thick cut chicken and bacon-so good), French dip, chicken caesar wrap and hot pastrami. I'm craving a BLT so I'm looking forward to trying that next. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the service speed. We've dined in, ordered out, and ordered online and still have had to wait a bit for the order. At least the servers are very pleasant so that makes the wait pretty easy. Love this place! What a great spot for lunch! I have no idea how my coworks found this gem but I"m glad they did. Can't say much about their breakfast options as I haven't had a chance to try them but they look great, I can say I haven't had a sandwich here that I didn't like with my favorite being the hot pastrami with extra sauerkraut! The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere relaxed, they also have a small Lounge area that would be ideal for a quiet morning cup. read more

We were in the area and decided to give Rivers Edge a try for lunch. Everything we tried today was either excellent or very good. Hot Pastrami with spicy honey mustard was outstanding. BLT was perfect. Soups were delicious and were quite a heaping portion for a cup size. Service was pleasant and friendly. Looking forward to another hot pastrami on my next visit. read more

Omg! This place is the bomb! What sweet little Sumner was in much need of! Not only is their food and coffee TERRIFIC, but the best part is the service! They are a busy place, understandably so! But, no matter how busy you are ALWAYS welcomed with a bright smiling face and warmth and enthusiasm! This is a local family owned establishment, where the owners care and are a part of the team! Their sandwiches are BIG and fresh and fantastic! Not too many places that you can get a good breakfast on the go either (that's not fast food) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Must try! Found this gem while working in Puyallup for a few weeks. Great food with even better service. Tried it for an early lunch and ended up returning 8 days in a row. Lunch specials every day. Great coffee, breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, wraps and the best French dip I've had in the 22 states I've traveled to so far. Don't pass this place up. read more

It's right in downtown Sumner so it's easy for people to pop right in, but there were others who were also working remotely for the day. Lots of seating, lots of plug ins, and free wifi. I love how bright and airy it is here, too. Definitely is the best spot for a sunny spring or summer day. On Tuesdays, they do $5 Taco Tuesday which is such a steal! For $5 you get two tacos with your protein of choice (carne asada or chicken). I decided to try this since I got the quesadilla last time. Some of the cuts of meat were pretty grisly/fatty which was a bit of a turn off, but overall they were good. I also got the chips, salsa, and guac on the side. I think next time I would skip the salsa as it was super chunky and not a salsa texture at all, and had no kick to it. The guac was really good though! I wouldn't say it's the best coffee shop I've ever been to, but the atmosphere here is so bright and cheery that I'll definitely still keep coming back when I'm looking for a change of scenery that isn't my desk at home! Plus, did I mention they have mimosa flights?

Now, first of all I was already concerned because the lady who makes the sandwich's was giving off some weird vibes and she didn't write down my order. In my opinion a sizable tip. My total was eight dollars and some change. I left a four dollar tip for providing a decent service. Since discovering a stomach ulcer I can only eat certain kinds of food and I am beyond disappointed with the sandwich. Unable to eat something I paid for is sad plus I'm now 20 minutes away and can't return to request another one. If this café does not want to serve people like me they should put up a right to refuse service and then people who look like me won't come in to their establishment to order food and pay for something at the can't eat. We thought it was interesting that there were firemen there, ordering take-out smoked meat, but that just meant that the place had good food. The service was very good, even on a Friday night. I had ribs and brisket, and my husband had ribs. The portions were very large. The brisket was tender and smoky. There was BBQ sauce on the table but the meat did not need anything. My husband thought the ribs were just a little chewy. When we BBQ ribs we like the meat to be so tender it just falls off the bone. The smoky meat, however, was wonderful. Don't be grossed out but I took the bones home to make soup stock, and they are boiling in chicken stock right now. Dinner was not cheap. For two entrees of meat including 2 sides, 2 corn bread muffins, an iced tea, coffee and tip, dinner was $100 for two people. This, of course, did not include any alcohol. Would we go here again? Maybe. We can do smoked ribs as well as they can but we would not try to do brisket.

Given more history, I did hear that after Covid the restaurant lost certain companies that they used to get their food from which could explain the downgrade in the quality. The cucumbers had gone bad and some of the lettuce had even been wilted. The salad definitely was not worth eight dollars. I have had side salads with fresh ingredients for the same price at a dive bar and this is supposed to be a very well-known kind of upscale barbecue place that's in a well-known community that supports their business. The server was also mediocre and I honestly don't believe it would've been better but we were with a well-known customer, the employees seem to be a little bit more friendly, but definitely did not go out of way to make sure my meals were good. The macaroni and cheese taste very bland. There was not a whole lot of seasoning to it. Some of my brisket was dry and some of it was cold so that makes me wonder how long it's been sitting. The brisket was also kind of a seasoned, but not very well. The Tri-tip also was dry which I don't recommend getting. I did enjoy the baked beans and potato salad, but be aware because some cups of beans have mainly onions and bell pepper with barely any beans and some of the cups have no onions and peppers with just all beans. I have had a lot of barbecue in this state being a native of Kansas City and relatives from Texas. I know what good food is especially barbecue! I guess for this area it's one of the better places to go. The only other location that's nearby is Jack's barbecue which is their specialty is beef ribs, but they put literally pepper in everything so there's no flavor at all except for spicy!!!! At least at this restaurant, I'm not drinking a gallon of water because everything is so spicy like at Jack's but that's for another review. I got the half French dip sandwich, half club sandwich, and a full-size ham sandwich for my husband to take to work the next day. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and carefully prepared, making it a standout takeout meal. The French dip was outstanding. The roast beef was tender and flavorful, and the bread held up well, even as a to-go item. The au jus sauce came in a secure container, making it easy to enjoy later. It was warm, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. The club sandwich was another win. The breakfast selection is great from breakfast burrito to biscuits and gravy I always order a coffee in the morning they use Dillanos Coffee roasted in Sumner just across the river. They just added BEER ON TAP !! 8 different micro brews available and hard cider Growler fills availbe. The staff is awesome so friendly and they work hard to make you happy . This is a great place to get coffee or something to eat. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. The food is fresh and tastes great, the banana bread was my favorite. It's also a great place to go if you take lunch at non traditional hours. We take lunch at 10am and it's great to be able to get a sandwich and not just breakfast food that early.
