Amazing service and delicious ice cream! Some of the best cookies n cream I've had. We had Dark Side of the Moon and it was great tasted birthday cake! Hands down best ice cream shop around.

Matt H.

Two words: Pretzel Cone. I've been to Riverbottom many times, but never had nor even considered the pretzel cone, until now. And it just works. Classic sweet and salty combo, which should suit almost any frozen flavor you fancy. Did it change my life? I mean, minutes later I encountered a man and his macaw, so there was some magic in the air, but it's just good, not earth-shaking. At present, only ice cream is being offered (no fancy coffees or anything), but this may scale back up as they gauge demand. Staff advised checking their Facebook for updates. If you like ice cream, you'll enjoy yourself. Just be advised, the pistachio doesn't skimp, you will have large pieces to contend with. Kiddos may not be emotionally prepared for a commitment like that.

Ice Cream, coffee and good times. What more do you need? This place is legit. Coffee is cream was on point!

Simply put, Riverbottom is in the running for the best ice cream I have ever had. Straight up. There is another place I visited last year in Phoenix that is also in the running for this top position, but it would be a very difficult choice to make as far as my preference. If you love ice cream, this place is about as much of a no-brainer as they come. And seriously, who doesn't love ice cream? The ice cream here is not of the frozen yogurt, lactose intolerant, dairy free variety. This is old fashioned, homemade and unapologetically sinful bliss. I most recently sampled an ice cream made with the Girl Scout cookie "tag-a-long". This was exquisite. I would say head down and try some yourself but I am sure it will be long gone by the time you read this. The owner informed me that he only made 6 gallons and it's already been significantly depleted in the first 3 days since it's release. The shop itself is located just off Main in downtown Algonquin. It's a quaint and cozy atmosphere. The owner and his wife run they place and are both pleasant and wonderful to chat with. This is definitely worth a stop in if you are in the area.

Why did we not know about this place sooner?! The ice cream was delicious, so creamy and full of flavor. I had one with coffee flavor and loved it. The kids had blue ice cream with fruity vanilla flavor and they loved it as well. Complimentary mini cone for my 2 year old. Staff was very friendly and place was cute.

Great tiny coffee shop that has great ice cream. Sorta reminds me the coffee shops in The arties town called Silver City in New Mexico . They have a guitar and speaker in corner so must have music one or two nites a week. A must if you like small town America and coffee/Ice Cream. Beware parking is tight . We went Friday nite and had to park a block away. ... Still worth it .

Kimberly G.

Mmmmm they have awesome flavors to pick from. Generous with serving size. Tasted homemade and not as heavy as some homemade ice cream. I got their pistachio and dairy free matcha. Their dairy free flavor is very light tasting but still had the matcha flavor which I enjoyed. My man and I don't get ice cream often but we really like this place and are happy it's nearby.

This is by far the best ice cream place around. The flavors are delicious and unique with some staples that are always there (like Blue Moon which is our favorite and not found very many places) and some that are seasonal (cinnamon toast crunch-yum!- and peppermint)There are dairy free ice cream options, too, plus coffee and other treats. The location is cute in downtown Algonquin, which is being renovated and looking nice. It's between a bunch of nice parks, near the river, and down the street from the bike path. Nice little spot to take a break from your day and grab a treat. Plus the owners are super friendly and supportive of the community. Great place, great people. You have to try the ice cream, or you're missing out. read more

Visited for the first time on a hot Sunday. They seemed pretty busy but everyone seemed to get their order fulfilled quickly. I got an affogado with vanilla ice cream. The coffee snob in me was at first disappointed by the whipped cream and chocolate drizzle on top, but I was immediately won over when I found how delicious it was...haha. I brought my book hoping to relax with a coffee and read a little, but at least today it was packed with really loud kids - one shrieking at the top of its lungs and another screaming about a game they were playing. The shrieks got to me, so I devoured the affogato and headed out. Edit - just want to clarify this is certainly *not* the store's fault!* But might not be the little coffee shop atmosphere I was hoping it might be. The chairs and tables also do not encourage you to stick around very long. But so far everything has been really tasty. read more

I am thrilled to have an ice cream store in our downtown area especially because it is in the same location as my favorite ice cream store growing up (Golden Eagle RIP). The flavors are creative and all are delicious. We are huge Conscious Cup fans so we were so excited to see that they are carrying CC coffee and even feature it in the adult coffee floats! My daughter fell in love with the pistachio and she normally goes for the superman/fruity overload so I was all about it when she chose pistachio. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. I was excited when I saw there was an ice cream and coffee place opening in this location last summer. I've been here many many times over the last year (I'm a graduate student working two jobs and often need a pick me up) and I really like the place. Both the ice cream and espresso drinks are really good. The owner is very nice and welcoming and he even takes suggestions. Last year when they opened I recommended putting affogatos on the menu and the next time I came in there it was! (The affogato here is really good by the way) They also have a free rewards program for frequent flyers which is nice. Would definitely recommend! read more

I wanted to like this place -- I really did. Many businesses have tried to make a go of it at this location and failed. So I'd love to support a great local business. And Riverbottom has a lot going for it -- the shop is clean and pleasant, the customer service is friendly, and the ice cream itself is thick and creamy. However, what I can't get beyond are the flavors. I've tried several different flavors here and they all have a weird artificial taste. The pistachio ice cream tastes like artificial cherry. The butter pecan and sea salt caramel flavors both have this weird, almost minty aftertaste. I thought maybe I was imagining it, but I had my daughter try it and she agreed with me. It's really a shame, because the location, the service, and even the texture of the ice cream are all wonderful. And the owners seem like very nice people. But I don't want to spend $4 for ice cream that has a funny taste. I'll have to continue going to Kimmer's in St. Charles, which has ice cream with a similar texture but much better flavors. read more

I had no lunch plans and I knew exactly what I wanted for lunch. I arrive and the girl at the counter was having a bad day and I could tell. She avoided all any eye contact with me, she did not want to engage in any small talk and she was there to receive a pay check and that was that. Ok fine, I get it we all have bad days, just get me my food then. I ask her "how spicy is the spicy check wings?" So goes, "they are alright spicy." WTF, I'm giving a puzzling look and I'm not sure how to respond to that statement but whatever, I get it your cat died, your bf just broke up with you, your car insurance just went up 5%, sure I get it. I place an order for the spicy chicken wings and I wait. I take in the ambiance and it's a great place to chill and grab some bubble tea and lunch. I wait about ten mins and my wings are ready! When I walked up to get my wings I noticed there was some mochinut and I had to get some! I get three flavors, strawberry, taro, and green tea and then I head home to sample the food with my family. First up were the wings, they were scary looking but in a spicy kind of way. Was my stomach and whatever after comes after ready for these wings? I sure hope so! So I went in for my first bite and I was pleasantly surprised. The wings were super good! The flavoring and everything was fire, flame, hit the spot good. And the spice level was 'alright' (see what I did there?), it had a kick but nothing that my kids couldn't handle. My wife enjoyed the wings as well and she said they were good. I'm glad I stopped by and got the fried chicken wings to try because they were amazingly delicious and I'll be back for more. I finished off my lunch and tried some mochinut and they were good as well and you don't have any complaints from me on the food. The service on the other hand, get a new girl who wants to come to work and put on a smile. Like I said I understand we all have bad days but for me to write it in my review it must have been really bad. Great job on the food Cloud Tea. Happy to have you guys in the area and keep up the good food. You've earned your 4 start review.

The donuts are exceptional...always fresh, soft, and some of the best you'll find anywhere. It's one of those places that keeps our family coming back. What makes it even more special is Mike. Every time we walk in, he treats our family like we're regulars. He's genuinely kind, welcoming, and always takes the time to make our kids smile. In fact, every time we leave, my kids say, "He's just so nice." Great donuts will bring you in. Great people keep you coming back. The staff is nice, some space but limited outlets, noticed and heard young kids and moms throughout my stay making a racket which unfortunately for small town spots is difficult to accommodate. It was fine and easy to drink but not much smooth balance I've had with other matcha like Eleventh House in my hometown or Rabble's incredible Lawnmower doing watermelon with the green tea. Downtown Indianapolis sure does spoil! Would do coffee next time, the Dubai latte I had at Cook St seems the winter way.

Out of curiously I searched to see if there was one in the area and found Coco Rolls. Since we were on the town, we decided to stop in and check it out before they closed. First I will say that they are located in a strip mall, but in a part of it that makes it hard to find. We drove past it a couple of times before we realized they were in a nook on a courtyard area. You do have to look to find it as you will not see it from the road easily. Upon entering we found a fun little shop. There's not a lot of seating, but I feel like most of their customers are an order and go crowd. When we entered there were no other customers, we ordered our rolled ice cream and sat at the table they had to eat. While eating others came in, but ordered and left. I had the Oreo and Nutella rolls my lady had the caramel. Both were delicious. Overall, we were pleased. I wish they were closer to where we lived, but it will be a nice occasional visit. I can't comment on the Boba as we didn't order any, but maybe next time.

Hot Taro tea with boba was ordered- not hot at all, it was just warmed to room temperature. Taro powder mix is not mixed well and i could feel texture all the time I was trying to drink. Flavor was decent. But I think they need to use mixer to have more uniform mix than just stirring it with spoon. They have plenty of cake and icecream options and have mini squishy vending machines.

I took my daughter here yesterday (Friday' 5/8) after using Yelp to find an ice cream spot to…read moresurprise my daughter after being in the Huntley area... I mean the name is super fun, almost surprising it isn't a big name already.... While there were only a few people ahead of us, I will say it took a pretty long time for us to be able to order ( we were the 7th and 8th person in line and I think we were there well over 20 maybe even 30 mins and we are in the road...) But the wait was worth it. The ice cream (my daughter got a cyclone, I got a shake. I kinda don't know the difference as my shake had candy in it (and maybe some milk and some soft serve--while I think my daughters was all ice cream--but I'm guessing because I would have thought the cyclone would have candy while the milkshake would be all ice cream and milk...but no bother while I'm guessing my daughters had only ice cream (I was chatting with another family we met while waiting in the long line so I didn't watch too closely) but boy when I got the ice cream it was totally worth it. I got the peanut butter cup (which had some amazing on chocolate ice cream) and my daughter got the snickers...those seem pretty standard, but they weren't standard at all...they put a very well packed small bit of ice cream on top of the shake/cyclone that really looks like raw cookie dough....i don't have a picture (there may be some in yelp) but this super packed, small ice cream was the piece that turned this up a notch....it just looked so darn appealing and it was great. The owner was super jive, saying they've been open about a year (and they had a big line after me too, so that was good to see) Overall while they had maybe a dozen different ice creams (they all seemed like high quality ice cream--and I think they have a few different flavored soft serves too which is intriguing for next time..... The positives- the ice cream was great and it LOOKED incredible...and that's more than half the battle. Everyone's items looked great too which really had me hungry when our ice cream was made -- and it was worth the wait. The negatives - the menu is a wee bit confusing...basically they need a menu as the light wall isn't very clear what things are....i know you can customize things but it's hard to tell what all the customizations were -- and they had several other menu items that I wasn't exactly sure what they might be. They also had a cool looking cotton candy maker right by the check out register but it wasn't marked as a cotton candy maker and I didn't notice any menu item that used cotton candy (and we were in line a long time). I wasmt alone in this confusion as the nice couple (who were ordering with their kids) ahead of me were also a bit confused....and obviously we had to wait a bit longer than expected (which while the store was full it wasn't exactly crazy crowded like I image it would be in the middle of summer). But trust me the good far outweighed the bad...it was worth the wait. My suggestions: 1. Have a handout/ paper menu that is much more descriptive (especially here where the ice cream is not facing the I Entrance so it's hard to know in advance what ice creams they have-- and also because they seem to have some more unique than standard ice cream shop items but I kinda didn't know what they were.::: They also could have a smaller option (the Medium milk shake is pretty large and the Small Cyclone is more like a Medium elsewhere. I know many would applaud this, but I kinda like less is more with ice cream (as after so much it doesn't have that same appeal even it it tastes good :) ) My suggestions -- beyond the above:..: Play into the Scooby Doo thing legally by having things like 'The Creeper' which would be maybe a mint chocolate chip (which they didn't have bet) and the Mystery Machine or Scoopy Snack etc. just play on the name without having Scooby Doo... We will be back before the summer 2026 wraps.

I sampled a variety of flavors and really enjoyed the Twix Bar, Marsh-Mallow Smores, Salted Caramel Blondie but ultimately chose the Boston Cream Pie. My only drawback was staff could have been happier, the floors were a bit dirty, and toppings counter was a bit disheveled. They also promote most ice cream flavors as "Howling Ice Cream" but some containers were clearly marked as Haggen-Dazs. Either way, I enjoyed my ice cream and would revisit! Tip: They did have (3) non-dairy ice cream flavors on top of many sorbet flavors.

I have been to plenty of places that serve Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, and it is about half the price for the amount of ice cream we got. By far the worst experience I've had getting ice cream and that is a difficult thing to accomplish. Not only was this extremely overpriced, but not even the correct ice cream advertised.
