Stopped by for a quick coffee and snack before checking out some wedding venues. I have been here another time during the fall and it was pretty good so decided to come back on our day off. The coffee out quick, and the cashier helped us decide on some of their popular seasonal offerings. I got the Sweater Weather Latte which was solid. It had sea salt, maple, and brown sugar. My wife got a salted caramel latte with cold foam, I would say I liked hers a little more because of the cold foam. So I'll add that next time. The place has a great aesthetic, great to do a little work on your laptop on, or just enjoy some coffee and a treat. We will be back!
Very cute cafe with friendly staff!! Love that there are vegan options, it is so tough to find dairy free baked goods in cafes in the Midwest. Good music taste as well. My rosemary honey latte was delightful. Would recommend.
A great coffee shop if you're looking for a place to study as well. They have Housemade syrups and lots of seating with a great atmosphere. Would recommend this to anyone looking for good coffee and study vibes
Stopped by Elder + Oat for a Sunday morning coffee and treat in Downtown West Dundee. The inside had a good mix of seating, board game offerings and very cozy vibes. They serve Counter Culture coffee which was a great surprise! The staff were very nice and explained the menu well. Note that all bakery options are not available all the time but they have a window to show the back of house staff making baked goods. We got a fresh cinnamon twist donut and buttermilk garlic scone to go. Both were delicious and flavor packed! I got an iced lavender latte with oat milk and my partner got a hot chai tea. Both were made to order and delicious. We would certainly come back in the future to try other beverages and baked goods!

I was at this place today and it was a very unpleasant experience. I ordered an iced latte and a Mediterranean sandwich. There was a hair on the plate. When I went to tell her, she just grabbed the hair with her hand and asked if I wanted another plate. She didn't apologize or show any empathy. I asked her if she could make the sandwich again, and she, surprised, asked me if that was really what I wanted. I said YES!! Annoyed, she grabbed the plate and turned away without saying a word. I always like supporting small businesses; Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this one. They need to be more attentive to their staff and train them to provide better customer service. A welcoming neighborhood coffee place. On a Sunday morning,, they were busy, but attentive to everyone, They promote sustainability , which is amazing. They also donate food to a local food drive, plus they not only compost their older food, but they also give it to a brewery for them to make beer out of it! Dropped in this weekend as there's not many great coffee places in Kane county, though I think Elder + Oat is safely one of the best, if not the best. The coffee cold foam drink was extraordinary. You could actually taste the coffee and it wasn't spammed with sweetener. The donuts were some of the best quality maple donuts I've ever had. An absolute favorite & will definitely be back for a relaxing weekend.
This is one of the most incredible coffee shops I've ever been to. Elder + Oat really set the bar so high for any coffee shop I go to next! They pride themselves on their sustainability and resourcefulness which I think is awesome. They donate food to a local food drive, plus they not only compost their older food, but they also give it to a brewery for them to make beer out of it! All of their ingredients are locally sourced, from the syrups they use in lattes to the herbs they use for their sauces. I love knowing the ingredients I put into my body here are all real and organic! Also I could go on and on about their food, the pesto to be exact. That sh*t is DELICIOUS! Their apple cider doughnuts were fantastic; they were so rich and moist. The focaccia bread is flavorful and airy, I especially like their sea salt & olive oil one. The food and coffee here is so A1, I highly recommend it! What makes this place better is they have a parking lot out back which makes this shop easily accessible. The front side of the store is right in front of a no-parking busy street in downtown West Dundee, so the parking lot and entrance directly in the back of the store come in clutch. The staff and owners are so hard working, gracious, kind, authentic - I could go on! Truly such an unbelievable local coffee shop and community space. They also do brunches, catering, weddings, etc. This is a fantastic spot you don't wanna miss out on!
Very good chai latte made perfectly with the right amount of spice. Really enjoy their vegan donuts, tasted just like a regular one. Atmosphere was great and enjoyed the cozy-ness to it. Will be back!

They have a board games and kids activity stuff to keep the little ones engaged. We tried the ginger bread latte, golden milk & honey latte, egg and cheese breakfast biscuits and freshly made donuts. Everything was made with the freshest ingredient and they have gluten free and vegan options as well. They are open daily from 6:30 am till 2pm on weekdays and 7- 3pm on weekends. Check it out and enjoy delicious coffee, pastries, and more. The service is great. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
Excellent Coffee place where people specially elders are treated with Great love I visited this place first time as it was referred by someone. It was worth. Very homely atmosphere. Nice Christmas decoration. I was very happy to see that many customers and staff was in ugly dress . It looked interesting and entertaining. Food and drinks were incredible I ordered Italian Buttercream sourdough and brown-butter pecan scone with elder +oat latte. I also tried garlic + rosemary focaccia with pesto sauce. Everything was amazing I had a great experience and must visit it again with my family and friends soon
So disappointed we paid $10 for this "sandwich" that ended up going into the trash. We said we're vegan and have allergies but didn't realize till we got home after a 30min drive that it had dairy cheese on it and not to mention just a teaspoon of hummus a slice of tomato and like 3 slivers of bell peppers. Wish the staff was more knowledgeable of their menu items and could've clarified or made sure it was correct before handing it to us. Gotten this before in the past multiple times a year or 2 ago but it seems like the service has sadly gone downhill a bit, just disappointed because we used to love this place!

Elder + Oat is the BEST bakery in Chicago's suburbs! Their muffins, blueberry granola bars, their Brown Butter Pecan Scones, and their doughnuts are delicious! Their coffees are fabulous as well! I usually get a Doppio Espresso with honey and sometimes get a Cappuccino. Both are perfect and never disappoint! The service is tops, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and their food options are the best in the burbs! read more
This was my first time visiting Elder + Oat after a friend recommended it to me and I will definitely be going back soon! I got one of their winter menu items, which was the Snow Day Cold Coffee. The maple cinnamon cold foam was delicious. For food, I got the ricotta chili crisp toast and the flavors of honey, chili and creamy ricotta paired with the crunchy toast was perfect. I also tried their vegan chocolate glazed old-fashioned donut. Great spot for meeting with friends or doing work. They have a huge collection of board games to play as well! read more
Came here on a rainy day. I've been to many areas of West Dundee, but not here. It's nice because there's a rear parking lot and rear entrance. It's a decent size coffee shop with a couch and many tables. I ordered their house coffee and a butter pecan scone thing. The coffee was okay. I like the scone flavor but it was pretty dry. If it warmer, moist, and maybe some sugar sprinkled on top, it would have been perfect. read more

I wanted to find a cozy place to catch up with my reading, and I decided to stop in Elder + Oat. It has a comfortable and cozy vibe inside, with a selection of handcraft hot beverage and pastries. Bonus, there's a a variety of gluten-friendly pastry selection! The people were friendly, and they patiently answered my questions about the selection of pastries on their menu. I ended up ordering a Cortado and Cherry Almond Scone. The drink was good, but the scone was on the harder side. read more

After standing in front of the Elder + Oat stand at the Arlington Heights Farmers Market, and staring at some good looking donuts, I just had to try some. After standing in a short line I ordered one donut and four cookies (I had to bring something home for my husband to try). I had a gluten free apple cider donut. The donut was light in the apple flavor but the donut was very soft and the sugar had a nice crunchy sound to it. I took the cookies home and didn't realize how huge they were until I got them home and unpacked them. These cookies are almost a meal themselves. The cookies were packed with flavor and tons of chocolate and are topped with sea salt that add some saltiness and make them sparkle in pictures. These donuts and cookies are so good that I can't wait to try their store location. I highly recommend Elder + Oat. read more

Cute little coffee shop in east Dundee. The interior is super cozy and would be a great place to work, study, or play some of their board games. They have a great selection of specialty coffee, tea, pastries, and a few breakfast items. I got the hibiscus berry iced tea, an elder and oat (latte?), the spinach and feta pocket. and a blueberry lemon scone. I think everything I got was just okay to me, but I probably should have ordered different things for my preferences. The scone was of the crumbly kind but still pretty good, and I just didn't like the floral flavor of the elder and oat. They have lots of other options though so I'm excited to try more stuff! read more

My wife and I came here on a hot day after a long walk at a local trail in West Dundee. We were greeted by friendly faces and a nice quiet vibe from the atmosphere they created. We decided to ask them what their favorite drinks were and they didn't disappoint! Aside from the fact that we were told they had no oats of any kind or breakfast sandwiches, the experience was nice. We settled on the Elder and "oat" (whole milk) and the Hun Bun. Both were great! Well balanced drinks without overpowering added flavors. I really appreciated that in a day and age where people play far too much with their latte flavors. We'll definitely come back to try some oats and other options where we'll update our review! read more

You know that midmorning, havent had my seventh cup of coffee feeling. That's right where I found myself yesterday traveling along Higgins Road. I was jamming out to Higgins by Humphrey McGee and needed a caffeine fix because I was starting to chew on my mustache Enter elder + oat The staff were tiny, but mighty. When I asked about the best pastries in the case, they absolutely f*ing nailed it. The maple donut is a unique experience that everyone must try. I've eaten donuts from Milwaukee to Portland and never have. I had a donutary Bliss like the one I experienced at elder + oat. No, I didn't notice any elders and I didn't notice any oats. I was too busy stuffing my face. Coffee was great too. I got the drip coffee black because I don't wear candy pants. But if you do wear candy pants, they seem to accommodate every walk of life. I can't love this cozy community minded cafe enough. Stop in and talk to any of the staff or owners here and you will hear words and phrases like sustainable, locally sourced, hand-crafted, organic, vegan, gluten friendly, plant based, composting, donations to local food pantry and hosting community events. That is important stuff. It is good to feel good about nourishing our bodies, healthy treats and a healthy community. Thoughtfulness shines through in every detail. Wonderful people, pastries, coffee, and vibes. Elder + Oat is the perfect early morning pick me up for Java heads and crafty connoisseurs alike. Everything is made with sustainability, low environmental impact, and health and accessibility in mind. And it's delicious! You can legitimately taste the difference. It may be the hard way, but it's the right way! Nothing is skipped over in the name of convenience. The workers were fantastic and accommodating. My favorite local cafe! The cozy, comforting vibes are simply immaculate, and their drinks are hand crafted to perfection. The baristas, bakers, and owners are always extremely kind and hardworking, and my experience here is always so pleasant! They offer an inclusive menu with gluten-friendly and vegan baked goods that rotate with the season. They heavily focus on fresh, in-season flavors with an emphasis on local. Their vegan old-fashioned donuts use a high-quality local flour and are fried in coconut oil versus a traditional seed oil, making them much better for you and giving them a richer, more delicious taste!
