Stopped by for a quick coffee and snack before checking out some wedding venues. I have been here another time during the fall and it was pretty good so decided to come back on our day off. The coffee out quick, and the cashier helped us decide on some of their popular seasonal offerings. I got the Sweater Weather Latte which was solid. It had sea salt, maple, and brown sugar. My wife got a salted caramel latte with cold foam, I would say I liked hers a little more because of the cold foam. So I'll add that next time. The place has a great aesthetic, great to do a little work on your laptop on, or just enjoy some coffee and a treat. We will be back!

Very cute cafe with friendly staff!! Love that there are vegan options, it is so tough to find dairy free baked goods in cafes in the Midwest. Good music taste as well. My rosemary honey latte was delightful. Would recommend.

Elder + Oat is the BEST bakery in Chicago's suburbs! Their muffins, blueberry granola bars, their Brown Butter Pecan Scones, and their doughnuts are delicious! Their coffees are fabulous as well! I usually get a Doppio Espresso with honey and sometimes get a Cappuccino. Both are perfect and never disappoint! The service is tops, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and their food options are the best in the burbs!

A great coffee shop if you're looking for a place to study as well. They have Housemade syrups and lots of seating with a great atmosphere. Would recommend this to anyone looking for good coffee and study vibes

They couldn't even put hummus on the other half of the bread.

I was at this place today and it was a very unpleasant experience. I ordered an iced latte and a Mediterranean sandwich. There was a hair on the plate. When I went to tell her, she just grabbed the hair with her hand and asked if I wanted another plate. She didn't apologize or show any empathy. I asked her if she could make the sandwich again, and she, surprised, asked me if that was really what I wanted. I said YES!! Annoyed, she grabbed the plate and turned away without saying a word. I always like supporting small businesses; Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this one. They need to be more attentive to their staff and train them to provide better customer service. By the way, her name is Ashley K.

Stopped by Elder + Oat for a Sunday morning coffee and treat in Downtown West Dundee. The inside had a good mix of seating, board game offerings and very cozy vibes. They serve Counter Culture coffee which was a great surprise! The staff were very nice and explained the menu well. Note that all bakery options are not available all the time but they have a window to show the back of house staff making baked goods. We got a fresh cinnamon twist donut and buttermilk garlic scone to go. Both were delicious and flavor packed! I got an iced lavender latte with oat milk and my partner got a hot chai tea. Both were made to order and delicious. We would certainly come back in the future to try other beverages and baked goods!

Experience photo-documented with comments. Parking in back. Service was the worst part of the experience. UNHURRIED in the negative sense. Products were good. How can you beat a bakery? Loved how they had hot sauce as part of their condiment station. Ambiance was hipster cubed... vegan friendly, pet friendly, and everyone welcomed. Cozy seating, but COLD inside. BRRR. Bring a slanket and gloves.

Dropped in this weekend as there's not many great coffee places in Kane county, though I think Elder + Oat is safely one of the best, if not the best. The coffee cold foam drink was extraordinary. You could actually taste the coffee and it wasn't spammed with sweetener. The donuts were some of the best quality maple donuts I've ever had. An absolute favorite & will definitely be back for a relaxing weekend.

A welcoming neighborhood coffee place. On a Sunday morning,, they were busy, but attentive to everyone, They promote sustainability , which is amazing. They also donate food to a local food drive, plus they not only compost their older food, but they also give it to a brewery for them to make beer out of it! Their coffees were smooth and creamy, not bitter. Definitely one of the best coffee places around. Read less

So disappointed we paid $10 for this "sandwich" that ended up going into the trash. We said we're vegan and have allergies but didn't realize till we got home after a 30min drive that it had dairy cheese on it and not to mention just a teaspoon of hummus a slice of tomato and like 3 slivers of bell peppers. Wish the staff was more knowledgeable of their menu items and could've clarified or made sure it was correct before handing it to us. Gotten this before in the past multiple times a year or 2 ago but it seems like the service has sadly gone downhill a bit, just disappointed because we used to love this place!

I would highly recommend! Cute, cozy and welcoming atmosphere as well as great coffee and food! Everyone is very friendly and helpful!

This is one of the most incredible coffee shops I've ever been to. Elder + Oat really set the bar so high for any coffee shop I go to next! They pride themselves on their sustainability and resourcefulness which I think is awesome. They donate food to a local food drive, plus they not only compost their older food, but they also give it to a brewery for them to make beer out of it! All of their ingredients are locally sourced, from the syrups they use in lattes to the herbs they use for their sauces. I love knowing the ingredients I put into my body here are all real and organic! Also I could go on and on about their food, the pesto to be exact. That sh*t is DELICIOUS! Their apple cider doughnuts were fantastic; they were so rich and moist. The focaccia bread is flavorful and airy, I especially like their sea salt & olive oil one. The food and coffee here is so A1, I highly recommend it! What makes this place better is they have a parking lot out back which makes this shop easily accessible. The front side of the store is right in front of a no-parking busy street in downtown West Dundee, so the parking lot and entrance directly in the back of the store come in clutch. The staff and owners are so hard working, gracious, kind, authentic - I could go on! Truly such an unbelievable local coffee shop and community space. They also do brunches, catering, weddings, etc. This is a fantastic spot you don't wanna miss out on!

Very good chai latte made perfectly with the right amount of spice. Really enjoy their vegan donuts, tasted just like a regular one. Atmosphere was great and enjoyed the cozy-ness to it. Will be back!

But that's OK because I had the most delicious ham and cheese croissant. Of all the places I've ever eaten croissants at this was by far the best one ever. Buttery, fluffy, with just the right amount of ham and cheese inside. Just to bite into it was like I bit into a cloud. The person I was with had the poached eggs with smoked salmon on a croissant and said it was outstanding-best ever. It is on the pricey side, but when you're eating niche food like this, you would expect to pay more money. I did buy some pastries to take home for later macarons, and a couple of pieces of cheesecake and a honey cake which were OK maybe not the best. I wish they had had more flavor. The cherries in the honey cake were lacking that great cherry flavor. The macarons were good bigger than usual or what I'm used to but OK. The cheesecake was too dense for me, but the person I was with and others enjoyed them profusely. The place is adorable inside very cozy, small but plenty of places to sit and the person behind the counter couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Check this place out if you're looking for a delicious croissant I would really like to also try the sourdough bread which looked amazing.

I had been by the bakery a number of times but never really got the chance to stop in, it seems to be one of those hidden-in-plain-sight spots, so I was glad to finally have the opportunity & take full advantage. Walking in I was politely greeted by the cashier who directed me to take a tray & tongs (I'm new here) and asked if I needed help finding anything, but I made my own way around the store to get the lay of the land first. I wanted a concha. Scanning every case, I found them along the back wall & promptly tong-ed myself a vanilla, then grabbed a few other items that looked good. My wife is GF, so I picked out my own treats and limited the selection to what I knew I could eat sooner than later. The cashier rang me up & my 3 items added up to less than $3 so I gladly handed over the cash--in my old neighborhood you'd be lucky to find 3 baked goods for less than $5. Good deal right there. After impatiently making the car trip back home, I poured a cup of coffee, snapped a picture of my concha, and dove in. It was fluffy, a little crunchy on the outside, and perfectly sweet. I had to remind myself to take sips of the coffee. I also tried a few bites of the other pastries & they were equally as pleasing, I'm just unsure of what they were called.....they just looked good & I was in an adventurous mood. Suffice to say, I had no issues with the product or service, and would absolutely come back & recommend La Illusion to others. I reserved the last star in my rating because it was my first visit and some of the cases were open a bit when I got in (I helped close them which is no big deal). I'm certainly looking forward to bumping the rating up to 5 after I go back.

Fear not, Sweets by Kash to the rescue!!! I called Lindsey up about 3.5 months out from our wedding date and explained everything. She did say that was not her specialty, but man she hit it out of the park! We were having a small wedding and wanted to have cheesecake as our "cake". We already had a sweets table and wanted to beef up the options for guests, as well as pay homage to our first date. Our first date was at the Cheesecake Factory and we thought it would be perfect for us. It was easy to set up a tasting. We chose to pick up the cheesecake from Lindsey and have a little date night at home and test it all out. The packaging was super cute and the decorations on top were beautiful. But the flavors, WOW! I think cheesecake is so underrated. It's rich and creamy and is such a great dessert. We devoured the tasting cheesecake in a few days LOL. Honestly, with how simple everything was to set up and get answers to our questions immediately, I knew we had someone good. But the flavors, MMMMMMMMM!!! We didn't even finish an entire piece and I knew Lindsey was the baker for us. We love to support local businesses as well, so in the end everything worked out. So we booked Sweets by Kash and had her deliver to our venue and set up the cheesecake for us. They were all so beautiful and we got so many compliments on the taste. We ordered chocolate chip cheesecake and Oreo, as well as a gluten free chocolate chip cheesecake. Our GF guests really appreciated being able to eat a dessert in its entirety and said it was outstanding. We opted to save the top so we could enjoy that deliciousness all weekend, but someone walked away with it sadly. I will absolutely placing an order so we can celebrate our wedding anniversary with our special cheesecake (and no, I will not be waiting an entire year, because that cheesecake is too dang good to wait!). Thank you Lindsey for being amazing to work with and I don't have the professional photos back yet, but if you zoom in on this one, you can see the lovely set up in the background.
