The maple cinnamon cold foam was delicious. For food, I got the ricotta chili crisp toast and the flavors of honey, chili and creamy ricotta paired with the crunchy toast was perfect. Forced to close which is unfortunate , but you can tell once the locals left the business crashed hard. When it was the 5 owners that place was immaculate and always a pleasure to sit down and chat with the 5 owners regardless of how busy. Once, it turned the two new owners and their third partner external that works at a data center. It turned to the worse. I mean you had bida buns working there hard and then she suddenly left. That should send a big red flag when the business was going down hill. Bida Buns does amazing work and is a delight to chat with. Came here on a rainy day. I've been to many areas of West Dundee, but not here. It's nice because there's a rear parking lot and rear entrance. It's a decent size coffee shop with a couch and many tables. I ordered their house coffee and a butter pecan scone thing. The coffee was okay. I like the scone flavor but it was pretty dry. If it warmer, moist, and maybe some sugar sprinkled on top, it would have been perfect. read more

Looking for a coffee place while in the area, we decided to drop in. We parked in the back lot and entered from their back entrance. Service was decent. My first item I ordered was out of stock. Went with a cold coffee and it was ok. The lid of my coffee didn't feel like it was the right size. I was trying to not spill on myself. Now, for comfy seating this place gets all the stars. Stopped by for a quick coffee and snack before checking out some wedding venues. I have been here another time during the fall and it was pretty good so decided to come back on our day off. The coffee out quick, and the cashier helped us decide on some of their popular seasonal offerings. I got the Sweater Weather Latte which was solid. It had sea salt, maple, and brown sugar. My wife got a salted caramel latte with cold foam, I would say I liked hers a little more because of the cold foam. So I'll add that next time. I was at this place today and it was a very unpleasant experience. I ordered an iced latte and a Mediterranean sandwich. There was a hair on the plate. When I went to tell her, she just grabbed the hair with her hand and asked if I wanted another plate. She didn't apologize or show any empathy. I asked her if she could make the sandwich again, and she, surprised, asked me if that was really what I wanted. I said YES!! Annoyed, she grabbed the plate and turned away without saying a word. I always like supporting small businesses; Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this one. They need to be more attentive to their staff and train them to provide better customer service. Stopped by Elder + Oat for a Sunday morning coffee and treat in Downtown West Dundee. The inside had a good mix of seating, board game offerings and very cozy vibes. They serve Counter Culture coffee which was a great surprise! The staff were very nice and explained the menu well. Note that all bakery options are not available all the time but they have a window to show the back of house staff making baked goods. We got a fresh cinnamon twist donut and buttermilk garlic scone to go. Both were delicious and flavor packed! I got an iced lavender latte with oat milk and my partner got a hot chai tea. Dropped in this weekend as there's not many great coffee places in Kane county, though I think Elder + Oat is safely one of the best, if not the best. The coffee cold foam drink was extraordinary. So disappointed we paid $10 for this "sandwich" that ended up going into the trash. We said we're vegan and have allergies but didn't realize till we got home after a 30min drive that it had dairy cheese on it and not to mention just a teaspoon of hummus a slice of tomato and like 3 slivers of bell peppers. Wish the staff was more knowledgeable of their menu items and could've clarified or made sure it was correct before handing it to us. Positives: Nice atmosphere, good coffee, pleasant staff. I like to see non-chain establishments however they still need to be reasonable. Less than positive: They now have a menu with no prices, which is new. They charged $1.00 for a squirt of honey in the coffee which is unknown until you look at the receipt. This is one of the most incredible coffee shops I've ever been to. Elder + Oat really set the bar so high for any coffee shop I go to next! They pride themselves on their sustainability and resourcefulness which I think is awesome. They donate food to a local food drive, plus they not only compost their older food, but they also give it to a brewery for them to make beer out of it! All of their ingredients are locally sourced, from the syrups they use in lattes to the herbs they use for their sauces. Their apple cider doughnuts were fantastic; they were so rich and moist. The focaccia bread is flavorful and airy, I especially like their sea salt & olive oil one. The food and coffee here is so A1, I highly recommend it! What makes this place better is they have a parking lot out back which makes this shop easily accessible. The front side of the store is right in front of a no-parking busy street in downtown West Dundee, so the parking lot and entrance directly in the back of the store come in clutch. Such a cute and cozy coffee shop and bakery located in downtown West Dundee. Love the friendly and relaxing vibes as soon as you walk in. They have a board games and kids activity stuff to keep the little ones engaged. We tried the ginger bread latte, golden milk & honey latte, egg and cheese breakfast biscuits and freshly made donuts. Everything was made with the freshest ingredient and they have gluten free and vegan options as well. They are open daily from 6:30 am till 2pm on weekdays and 7- 3pm on weekends. After standing in front of the Elder + Oat stand at the Arlington Heights Farmers Market, and staring at some good looking donuts, I just had to try some. After standing in a short line I ordered one donut and four cookies (I had to bring something home for my husband to try). I had a gluten free apple cider donut. The donut was light in the apple flavor but the donut was very soft and the sugar had a nice crunchy sound to it. I took the cookies home and didn't realize how huge they were until I got them home and unpacked them. These cookies are almost a meal themselves. The cookies were packed with flavor and tons of chocolate and are topped with sea salt that add some saltiness and make them sparkle in pictures. They have a great selection of specialty coffee, tea, pastries, and a few breakfast items. I think everything I got was just okay to me, but I probably should have ordered different things for my preferences. My wife and I came here on a hot day after a long walk at a local trail in West Dundee. We were greeted by friendly faces and a nice quiet vibe from the atmosphere they created. We decided to ask them what their favorite drinks were and they didn't disappoint! Aside from the fact that we were told they had no oats of any kind or breakfast sandwiches, the experience was nice.
