One of my best friends and I decided to come here after getting tattoos. This place is adorable and the staff is super friendly! I love the homey feel and I love the unique offerings they have for ice cream flavors! I know the flavors rotate so in the pictures that I will be sharing those were the flavors at the time! I am absolutely going to be going back to see what some of their holiday offerings will be! However if you do go there and they have the raspberry habanero, it's definitely at least worth a taste! I will say that the heat does build! I will say that the heat does build while you are eating it, but it was delicious! In addition to fun flavors they also have fun ice cream cone options as well! Two words: Pretzel Cone. I've been to Riverbottom many times, but never had nor even considered the pretzel cone, until now. And it just works. Classic sweet and salty combo, which should suit almost any frozen flavor you fancy. Did it change my life? I mean, minutes later I encountered a man and his macaw, so there was some magic in the air, but it's just good, not earth-shaking. At present, only ice cream is being offered (no fancy coffees or anything), but this may scale back up as they gauge demand. Staff advised checking their Facebook for updates. If you like ice cream, you'll enjoy yourself. Just be advised, the pistachio doesn't skimp, you will have large pieces to contend with. Bob and Bobby, the owner's of Riverbottom, are making the best ice cream available. Their ice cream brings back the quality and value I remember from the 1950s when it was made from fresh, simple ingredients. You won't find any of the stuff made in a chemical plant. The service is always fast and with a smile. The decor and feel of the place are warm and comfortable. My wife and I love spending time together enjoying the whole experience. Quality ice cream! We were passing through wanted some ice cream. So glad we stopped here! All the flavors we tried were delicious. I really loved the strawberry, anytime fresh strawberries are involved -yumm! I got my mum some salted caramel and key lime, she loved those. I only wish I could go back to see what other fresh fruit flavors they do during the season. So glad we decided to support a sweet local place:). My kids loved their flavors. Simply put, Riverbottom is in the running for the best ice cream I have ever had. Straight up. There is another place I visited last year in Phoenix that is also in the running for this top position, but it would be a very difficult choice to make as far as my preference. If you love ice cream, this place is about as much of a no-brainer as they come. And seriously, who doesn't love ice cream? The ice cream here is not of the frozen yogurt, lactose intolerant, dairy free variety. This is old fashioned, homemade and unapologetically sinful bliss. I most recently sampled an ice cream made with the Girl Scout cookie "tag-a-long". This was exquisite. I would say head down and try some yourself but I am sure it will be long gone by the time you read this. The owner informed me that he only made 6 gallons and it's already been significantly depleted in the first 3 days since it's release. The shop itself is located just off Main in downtown Algonquin. We stopped for a quick ice cream cone and this was a good pick. They offer about 8-10 flavors but the quality is there and the staff is real nice, young kids. My wife and I were visiting from Texas to see our family for the holidays and came across this hidden gem. The weather was cold but you can never go wrong with ice cream! Not only are they an ice cream parlor, but they serve a full menu of espresso drinks. All of the ice cream is made in house with natural ingredients and you can taste the passion that the owners have put into it. I had a great time chatting about their experience running their parlor for the last year and a half. Very nice place to hang out on a cold or warm day. As for the food, I went with an iced latte and my wife chose the cookies and creme ice cream. We tried several other flavors (Eggnog was great!), and wow you can't go wrong with anything here! Cookies and creme - this is honestly the best ice cream we have ever had. Typically cookies and creme looks like vanilla ice cream with chunks of cookies, but this was out of this world. What they do is blend Oreos into a powder and add it into the mix, giving the ice cream the appearance of a chocolate base. The flavor is extremely smooth, is really reminds me of licking the creme on an Oreo. Iced latte - I am a bit of a coffee aficionado and I will say that their espresso is on point. I tried them once and the ice cream was good. I ordered cookies & cream. It was nice and creamy and tasted homemade and fresh. The only thing I don't like it that the menu is rotating so they don't always have flavors that I like. Also, the hours are weird. They seem to just be randomly open when they feel like it. There were lots of times where we would call to see if they were open and they indeed were not open for that day. They would say "we will be open when weather gets better." I don't know about you, but the weather does not affect my craving for ice cream. I went during the summer of 2020 and they had a table set up outside so that you didn't enter, because of COVID. So their employee was outside wearing a mask and taking orders. It looked like the employees inside were also wearing masks. We stumbled upon riverbottom on a random Sunday night while strolling down the strip in Algonquin. We had our dog with us and she was warmly welcomed in by the friendly owners of the shop. The homemade ice creams are delicious, especially the plant-based ice cream. They use Conscious Cup coffee roasters out of Crystal Lake and the owners of riverbottom are environmentally conscious and use sustainable practices in their business. After we ordered our coffee, the owner brought our dog her very own homemade pup ice cream. We were really impressed by this local coffee shop and we will definitely be back when we are in town. Holy cow! (See what I did there?) The ice cream here is A #1 amazing! The coffee is great too! I quite enjoy the little muffins which are baked early and which never seem to make it past 11 or 12 pm lol (I guess they run out so fast because they're so darned good!). The location is good, and I'm sure that those hitting up Cucina Bella and other Main St. and riverside restaurants feel moved to walk across the street and indulge in some great after dinner or after lunch ice cream. The owner and workers here are always pleasant, kind, polite and efficient. They often greet returning guests by name and are very friendly. I appreciate that, which is why I am happy to give Riverbottom Ice Cream a glowing 5-star review! Now, if only they would open up an awesome coffee shop over at Re|New on Main (or anywhere, really, because their coffee is to die for)! Adorable little ice cream parlor for sure. Menu is a little difficult to see where it's at. Customer Service: Very welcoming. Was asked if it was our first time offered to have multiple samples which was very delightful. Meh. I've experienced better. I went in for the grand opening, and wasn't very impressed. The ice cream was hit-or-miss, with some flavors tasting pretty good, and others going straight into the trash can. This place is going on their 1 year anniversary and I have loved their ice cream and shakes since my first visit. All of the ice creams are handmade by the owner. His staff is amazing at giving you the best perfect scoop on a cone or in a cup. I have not tried their coffee yet since they have late morning starts, but a sure thing to do one late morning or early afternoon when I need a boost. First off, the ice cream could not be better! Nothing can compare to this, this is HANDMADE GOODNESS! My favorites are Captain Crunch ( favored over the next ) Pistachio flavored. Quite a few talks with the owner, he has aspirations to make this corner spot amazing. Location is perfect. Especially for the pokemon goers, 3 are reachable inside the parlor.
