This cruise with dinner is amazing. Takes three hours of beautiful sightings of the wildlife and all the great homes along the river. The dinner was to die for, cooked perfectly and big size portions. We had a great steak, salmon with salad, baked potato, squash and garlic bread to die for. This was the most amazing cruise. We are new to the area and my husband wanted to do something special for our 51st anniversary. THIS WAS SPECIAL.Our oarsman, Dave, was wonderful. It was quite apparent he loves this job of cruising down the river. He shared some interesting things with us, but also gave us our privacy. Impressed overall The good Booked this cruise for our anniversary and it ended up being really fun. It's tough to find new things to do in Redding, it's a small town. We booked and then ended up needing to move our reservation because of the recent heat wave. Todd was very accommodating and changed our date with no problems. Also, my wife is gluten free and they handled that REALLY well and with a great attitude about it. They provided GF salad dressing, garlic bread and croutons on top of delicious salmon that my wife loved. Well done. The scenery was great and it was SO nice to sit back and enjoy the ride with my wife, not having to worry about a boat or food. Our oarsman John was nice. Polite, knowledgeable about the river and lots of animals on the river. The boat was great, comfortable and more private with the sun shade. They had some music provided, selections picked John. The not as good My steak was ok, but not overly amazing. Also, the only drinks available were bottled water. While they do allow you to BYOB or wine, it was something that I thought could have improved. John was really chatty, especially during dinner when he stood right beside us as we ate... Also, it would have been nice to have used our selection of music and maybe I should have asked for that. See Redding from a totally different perspective! River Romance Tours offers guided drift boat cruises down the Sacramento River. I recently took my wife on a cruise for her birthday and it was amazing! The trip started at the convention center and went all the way down to the bonnyview launch ramp...about 3 hours or so total. We went under the Sundial Bridge which was just incredible. I have lived here for a long time and I had no idea the river had such amazing scenery. Along the way, the gentleman rowing the boat stops on the river and grills up a phenomenal dinner that you eat in the boat! The person rowing the boat stays behind a canopy that keeps you out of the sun. Our guide was obviously very skilled and was careful not to invade our privacy, but he was so wonderful we ended up chatting with him most of the way. This was really an experience and my wife and I were absolutely thrilled! read more

My husband and i Feel in love on this boat. We took our Cruise about two years ago. Our boat ride started off of Bonnie view boat ramp and ended in Anderson park. It took about 3 hours total. It was just Amazing. The Guide was friendly but yet stayed out of our zone. The food was better then most of the restaurants in town.. This was something i told my (then boyfriend) i wanted to do.. Life can be challenging, as so many of us can testify during these tumultuous times. But there is a refuge waiting to take you away from all this...River Romance and three hours of peaceful drifting on the beautiful Sacramento River. If you've done your research and read the reviews, I can't add anything more than others have stated. This is an amazing experience. You will not be disappointed. Our guide, Dave, knows this river and navigated it like a boss! I was skeptical about ribeye being cooked aboard...but I'm a believer now. Best salad, steak and potato in a long time, and not just because everything has been on lockdown for three months either. It was seriously good grub. There is not a single thing about River Romance that I would change. The attention to detail, the skill of the guide, the meal, the setting...and it's all in our back yard. What a blessing! If there is any hesitation on your part about the famous 'heat' in Redding being a factor, I can tell you the day we departed it was 107+. I was certain this would be a miserable adventure and desperately wanted to cancel . You need not fear...temperatures are much lower right on the water. It was perfect. 5 stars is all I can give, but I'd give more if they let me! I am already looking forward to doing this again. And if you are looking for a special gift idea, what a great gift this would make for someone else. I would not hesitate to recommend River Romance to friends, family, locals and beyond. Nicely down. Hard to beat this ride or should I say experience. Four of us booked the cruise in late April on what was a rainy weekend except that the Sunday we chose turned out to be alternately sunny and drizzling and just right. We met Todd, the operator, at the ramp near the Calatrava bridge, which coincidentally, two of our group from Milwaukee immediately identified, since they live near the masterpiece Calatrava on the Milwaukee lakefront. Our cruise took us down the Sacramento to Bonneyview over a two hour period in which we sailed through some fairly strong current at times and some rapids a few times, all quite safely, while exploring the wildlife, especially birds, and drinking some Saxum 2013 James Berry Vineyards with some cheese and appetizers. Todd did a good job as captain, commentator and crew. We had a chance to see the Sacramento close up, having lived near it for a long time, but never seeing it from this point of view. A great experience that we want to do again. read more

I learned a lot of information and still had enough privacy to have my romantic year anniversary with some champagne while listening to good music. We stopped halfway and fed ducks. While our food way preparing the served a wonderful salad with a homemade recipe for the dressing. I had a wonderful chicken and my other half got steak and it was cooked phenomenally! My wife and I went on this, for a romantic night out! My wife and I routinely eat at some of the nicest restaurants when we travel. I am also an avid boater and love the water. I have to say this exceeded our expectations. I believe it was an exceptional value. I have paid this much for lesser quality meals without the river boat ride. The food was wonderful. The ambience and scenery was very romantic. Needless to say I couldn't keep my wife's hands off me when we got home!!!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice night out. I would also like to thank John the oarsman. Being an avid boater, I could tell there was a lot of effort and knowledge that went into his work. He was constantly positioning the boat so the Sun was not directly on us. During the three hour journey, John told us about local wildlife and landmarks. I could tell he enjoys what he does. To top it off he cooked a wonderful steak and salmon while doing this. I really can't express what a great value this is. To anyone that's interested you really can't lose out. I do believe I have to make this a tradition with my wife. We visit her family in Corning at least once a year. So I can say romantic riverboat cruises has another loyal customer.
