Flyfishing is a top activity for me. My work week is intense - 60 hour + weeks - and when I go…read morefishing I attack with the same vigor, usually getting my line wet 40-50 days a year. About half to 3/4 of my fishing days I use a guide. Engaging with a good guide not only gives me access to great water but it also increases my fish count and - with the right guide - helps me improve as a fisherman. California, Oregon, Nevada, Montana. I'm licensed and four states every year and hit these State's waters top waters regularly. The guide community in each state is pretty small community. I have spent time with many guides over the years narrowing down to the top view in each state. In California I fish many different water types. From my place on the Fall River, to the wild Trinity, to the mighty Lower Sac and quite a few in between. Over my 30 years of fishing I've created great friendships with guides along the way. And Arian Aaron and Wild Harvest is among the best in the state! The first time I fished with Aaron was well over a decade ago. We floated the lower Sac. I was quite familiar with the river, so to me going with a guide was more about having someone row a boat while I fished then necessarily teaching me about the river. We'll was I surprised. Aaron far exceeded my expectations. Showed me more about the River than I could possibly have learned in a lifetime of fishing with others. From stealthy holes to underwater obstructions to back channel Eddie's, Aaron was on his game and I knew I had found an expert. I have since fished with Aaron on many northern California rivers since with the same experience. Nothing but best of class knowledge and best of class fishing experience. He's super personable and fun to hang with. And believe me, these tend to be long days fishing and with the wrong Guide they can be painful. Aaron makes these days fly by with success on the water and great conversation and camaraderie in the boat. Whether you are an expert or a beginner, I highly recommend Aaron and Harvest Wild for a guide service. But, book early since he has many "regulars" who pre-book him every year.

The sunrise over Lake Shasta was gorgeous. The early morning start was perfect for beating the summer heat and the wake from all the water sport boaters. Within 10-15 minutes of being on the water, and poles in for less than 5- we got our first bite. A beautiful rainbow trout! The bite was pretty consistent from there on out- Eric knew the right areas to fish & had all the equipment to get us to the depths we needed to be at. His set up on the boat is very dialed in & even with two or 3 fish on at once, he makes it easy. By lunch our family had already caught 30+ fish. We threw back a bunch of spotted bass and lost a number of large trout. At the end of the day, we went home with 26 trout (rainbow and browns) and 4 keeper sized bass. Eric kept the fun going, was enjoyable to be around and made the process so simple on us. He's even willing to help process the catch at the end of the day. 10/10 stars for Eric and his guiding service. We'd recommend a day on the lake with him to just about anyone we know- avid fisherman and newbies alike. Thanks for everything Eric!

After a full day of Fly Fishing 101 with Steve Crosetti, owner of Mojobella Fly Fishing Guide (530-333-3484 @ fishon@mojobella.com), our curiosity of women anglers was fulfilled. An incredibly thoughtful birthday gift could not have selected a more knowledgeable angler and highly respected naturalist. Six AM started our thrilling day with five changes of weather allowing Mojobella lessons on casting and loop strategies in wind, rain, fog and sunshine. With each condition Steve responded with more vigor, more energy, and more renewed determination to show us the range of casts our rods offered us. Steve is an excellent teacher who is easy to understand and follow his footsteps. Our drastically different ways of learning; visual vs technical, left Steve unphased, a master at judgment call. He used different approaches that varied from a stand back and watch with a gentle yet critical eye, literally hands on, and often roll modeling in sight of us. With recent rainfall, he was no short of giving us the life history of the elusive Stealhead spawning at our feet and the important lesson water clarity has on fly selection. From the fishes perspective and the logic of casting in backwater eddies, riffles, rapids, upstream and downstream approaches too. He literally left no river rock unturned when it came to relevant information, not too much but just enough to feed us all the necessary ingredients to aspire to become an esoteric member of "Ladies on the Fly".
