Simply the best experience in Northern California, and the hosted trips are great!! Lower Sac floats are the closest thing there is to a sure thing while more technical options include all the steelhead rivers including the Trinity (ask for DJ)! read more

Just got back from a 4-day hosted trip to Alaska with AC Fly Fishing, and I can honestly say it was the best guided fly fishing experience I've ever had. The level of professionalism, attention to detail, and overall experience from the AC team was second to none. Every day on the water was perfectly organized -- from logistics to gear to the incredible local knowledge the guides brought to every run and river. They put us on fish in some of the most beautiful settings imaginable and made the whole trip feel effortless. Whether you're a seasoned angler or new to destination trips, AC Fly Fishing sets the bar for what a guided experience should be. Top-notch operation, outstanding guides, and just great people all around. Truly the best guide experience around. I'll be back. -- Dave L. read more

I had fished with a number of these guys over the years - but at previous operations. Always fishy dudes. I was at @lostcoastoutfitters in SF and asked if he had any suggestions for a great guide out of Redding. He immediately hooked me up with Anthony and AC Flyfishing. That was a couple of years ago and I've run a dozen plus trips with AC. Everyone has been valuable as not only do they drop me into great water, but I learn a lot each time I fish with them. Bucko, Jay, Jason, Anthony etc... no weak link in the guide line up. They also coordinate everything for you for hotels and pass through the discounts. Last Saturday I drove up with my three sons for a quick afternoon/evening. #nailedit. Thanks Anthony and guys. Looking forward to the next visit. read more

My boys and I did a walk and wade with Travis on the Upper Sac. Beautiful location, excellent guide, and we all got fish...even a nice Brown which isn't nearly as common as the Bows. Highly recommend Travis and AC Fly Fishing. read more

Anthony and all of his guides are top notch. They really know how to put you on to fish and give you a great experience. Whether you are very experienced or a novice, you will learn something and enjoy the company while catching quality fish. I have fished with Anthony for many years now on the lower Sacramento River, steelhead rivers in NorCal as well as Alaska. He and his crew are my go to guide service and should be yours too ! read more

Fabulous outfit right here. Spent a day with Bucko doing a walk and wade trip on the Pit and Burney Creek. Conditions were not ideal, with water higher than normal, coupled with a freak late season rain storm blowing in. Despite these challenges, Bucko put us on the fish and we had a great time. Fabulous instruction and a great personality, we couldn't have asked for more. Beyond the trip/day-of, Bucko and Anthony were awesome as well in terms of scheduling, logistics (discussing options around the rain and possible blown out rivers, etc). Would highly recommend, and indeed, I just booked a second trip with AC and Bucko for the fall. read more

Since I had such a great experience on my June 2021 outing with the 4 guides assigned to me by AC Fly Fishing, I had to return to the Fall River and the Lower Sac this fall. This trip - like the June trip - did not disappoint! While my 2nd visit to Fall River took place on a foggy, chilly day, it was nonetheless glorious though my guide John duly calibrated me on how Fall River residents might behave because of the change in seasons. Undeterred, we pressed on with two different rigs and awaited the bug hatch - any hatch. In the early hours of the day with juvenile trout taunting me, rising left and right where I wasn't, I managed to convince a couple of juveniles into John's net. When the bug hatch finally took shape about mid-day after temps reached the 50s, John found a run where the trout were cooperating and I managed to add to my scorecard - in spite of my lack of finesse. While we fished almost to last light, the ride back to the boat launch wasn't too shabby either as it treated me to terrific fall views of Burney Mountain, Mt Lassen, and Mt Shasta - all with early snows. My 2nd trip with AC Fly Fishing on the Lower Sac that same week was an E-ticket ride as well. In spite of an early start (0630 hrs!), a mild, rainy day in the fall is no excuse *not* to fish the Lower Sac! That early of a start ensures that you and your guide are well ahead of the armada of drift boats at this time of year since the trout are frenzy-feeding on salmon eggs.. With expert rigging by my guide Matt, I managed a double-digit quarry even though I had my share of "conservation releases" and a bunch of misses - all "my bad". Matt was super patient with me as I continue to learn how to mend on moving water from a drift boat and to discern the difference between a strike and the ticking of the bottom fly off river bottom. In all, both outings on this trip were very much "two thumbs way up." Given my continued positive experiences, I look forward to returning to the waters of the southern Cascades with AC Fly Fishing. read more

Thank you so much for a great day on the Lower Sacramento River!! One of my best days fishing ever hands down. These guys are true experts and know northern California waters like the back of their hands. If you aren't catching fish its probably your fault ! Highly recommend booking with these guys if you want a guaranteed good time with guides that put you on top of fish ! read more

I really do not want to write this review. I booked this trip in April for June. I had an unexpected medical situation arise unexpectantly requiring surgery. Notified Matt immediately to change the date since I would be physically unable to fish or walk. Charged me $100 to change the date 30 days out even though I told him I wasn't 100% certain 30 days was enough time for me to physically recover. Fast forward today June 28 I called a full month prior to my July trip advising I would physically be unable to fly fish on the rescheduled date. So again he wanted to charge me another $100 change date fee. Tried to cancel so I could reschedule once I was physically unable to walk and fish. He said sure but I'm keeping the initial $100 reschedule fee plus your deposit. I asked Matt how would you feel if you were in my shoes? Matt said "I would feel upset like you do. But that's our policy. There is nothing I can do."WOW I run a small business and have had clients with deaths in their family or medical issues. I have always gone outside THE CONTRACT treating them like people with compassion and empathy issuing refunds because helping people in their time of need was far more important than profits!! . Matt clearly does not share that same sentiment. Beware!! read more

I never would've thought in a million years I would be fishing, but after hanging with the AC group I can't get enough! These guys have a great sense of humor and know exactly what they're doing and how to catch honking tanks of fish! They live and breath this life... you might even say they are part fish... Trust me, don't waste your time with other groups out there, just contact them and book them. You'll thank me later !! read more

Matt Shipley is an EPIC guide! Thank you AC Fly Fishing for setting us up! Matt new the where and how to put us on the bite! Our trip on the Lower Sacramento will never be forgotten. Between my friend and I we pulled in 28 fish. We each lost 8 to 10 as well. I felt like I went to a kiddy fish pond...we could now keep them away from our lines. Matt was also a great teacher and I came off the river with some new knowledge. read more

If you're ever thinking about going on a guided fly fishing trip, Anthony is your guy! He put me on massive fish all day...it was incredible. Within the first 30 minutes we were already connecting with beautiful rainbows. I've never caught that many fish (of that size) in a single day of fly fishing. It was by far the best day I've ever had on any river. Anthony really knows his stuff and his patient demeanor makes him a pleasure to be around for anglers of all skill level. I highly recommend AC fly fishing for your next guided trip! read more

Great operation out of Redding CA. Trip was easy to set up and fishing was amazing. Fished all day with Matt and can barely move my arm from all the action. Despite a very amateur angle Matt put us on the meat. Whole team is dialed in. I will be back. read more

AC Fly Fishing - Fishing Near Me - Redding, California

Earlier this week I had my first fly fishing trip, and Anthony made this experience as fun, educational, and memorable as it could be. He was very patient with my inexperience in casting and hooking the 'bows, and spent the day kindly reminding me the basic lessons that he taught me at the beginning of the day. Anthony put me on DOZENS of fish, and while I was fortunate to catch a few beautiful fish, had I been a better fisherman, I might have caught 40-50. I am now legitimately hooked on fly fishing, and will undoubtedly book many future trips with Anthony. read more

Been fishing with AC for 10 years and always a 10+ professional, friendly and great guides ! Highly recommend for all from beginner to 30 year seasoned flyfisher. The new younger guides are solid and fishy. read more

I had my first fly fishing experience with Anthony this weekend, he is an exceptional guide and I would highly recommend him to anyone. My boyfriend has been fishing for 16yrs and still learns a lot from him every trip (he's a repeat customer). I have so many good things to write that it's easiest to list them out: 1. He was very good at explaining everything. He teaches in a way that makes sense to someone who has never held a rod in their life as well as someone who is very experienced. 2. He was very patient. He responds to every question thoroughly and clearly (I ask a LOT of questions) and was never the slightest but irritated when he had to repeat something, had to fix my rod, help me with something, etc. 3. He was very respectful of the fish and the river. He was always mindful of our behavior so that we had an enjoyable experience without harming the beautiful area and it's aquatic residents. 4. I caught my first fish thanks to his expertise. I love fly fishing now and am grateful to have had this experience with Anthony as my guide. I intend on going out with him again someday and certainly will be fly fishing many more times in my life after this weekend :) read more

Matt Formento, our guide, spent 28 minutes on his phone, we had our lines in the water for a total of 11 minutes on a 6hr drift. This guy sucked all the fun and joy out of the entire day. He also needs a 15min warning before you need to go to the bathroom and he pouts every time he has to untangle a line. The drift seemed like more of an inconvenience than his job. He gave me the impression he was too good to drift with amateurs and has a hard time controlling his ego. I would give him a -5 stars rating if it were an option. We had to ride in his car to get back the launch site and he couldn't understand why neither of us would sit in the front with him. Typically, that means people can't stand you. read more

Anthony and his crew (Chris, Darren, Matt...) are extraordinary guides. They know the river as well as anyone and will put you onto fish no matter the season, the hatch, the weather, the flows). They teach better than anyone (totally underrated guide skill no matter what your level). They laugh more than anyone (pretty important if you are spending 8+ hours together...). If you want to catch fish and have a great time doing it, these are your guys. read more

Great guides. Immediately put us on fish. Will use again. Scheduling the trip and execution on the day was easy. Thanks AC Fly Fishing!

Can't express enough what a great experience fishing the Lower Sac is. I completed my 5th trip this weekend with Anthony and his team. They are professional, prompt, and attentive. Most importantly, they know the river and put you on the fish. If you aren't getting strikes and landing fish, fault the Indian not the arrow. I very much look forward to my next trip to the river with AC Fly Fishing. Thanks again Guys. read more

What a trip! My kids bought this trip for me as a Father's Day gift. Though I've fished for many years, this was my first fly fishing experience. Anthony is both an incredible guide and teacher of fly fishing. He has an easy going, friendly style. He has to be THE MAN on the Lower Sacramento River, taking us from hole to hole with consistent catches throughout the day. We both lost a few during the day, but caught at least as many. Never having fished that stretch of river, I was in awe of the fight of these big, strong, wild fish. Thanks so much to Anthony! My son and I are ready to re-up and I've already talked to a few friends about future trips. read more

Going fishing with my long time friend John made me a little nervous given I was a beginner fly fisherman. I have always been an avid bait fisherman mostly in lakes and ocean. So I was hoping that our guide Anthony would be patient with my lack of fly fishing skills. John had used Anthony before and really liked him and said he was the best. Let me jump to the conclusion first. We caught tons of fish! I was amazed how patient and helpful Anthony was. He started with the basics in a way that didn't make me feel like an idiot. His attitude was alway positive and even. It was a learning process that effectively enabled me to catch beautiful rainbow trout right away. I have much to learn still, but Anthony was able to teach me enough for me to actually enjoy the catching and fully participate in the trip. Anthony's knowledge of the Lower Sacramento river was extraordinary I know his keen knowledge of the river greatly enhanced our fishing experience. He seemed to know all of the "secret" hiding places the fish were at. Also, he made the trip fun! All in all, I would say that the trip was a success. I would definitely use Anthony again and would highly recommend him to both beginner and expert alike. Oh, and btw, we caught and released over 50 nice sized fish over two days! Thanks again Anthony. read more

I have fished with Anthony at least a dozen times now and would never consider booking with anyone else for the Sac, the Trinity, or the Klamath. He is, simply stated, the best guide I have ever fished with. You CANNOT go wrong here. read more

Thank you for an amazing first trip to the Lower Sacramento River Fishery. It is now in my top five floats which includes the San Juan in New Mexico. Your knowledge of the river and the fish in it is awesome. As we fished an evening fish and a morning one, I can say that no matter when you hit the water, with the right guide (which is you) and gear, you are going to be successful. With a total of 20 very respectable fish in the two trips I had a big smile on for the entire trip home. A very special thanks to you for your patience and teaching ability you used with my buddy on his first ever fly fishing trip. He is now hooked, so to speak, on the sport. To take someone from knowing nothing to catching the fish he caught, is amazing. You can count on the two of us coming back along with some family members to spend more quality time with you on the river in Redding as well as some fishing in other Northern California waters. read more
