Let me tell you that there used to be not a lot of good restaurants in town so this is a treat! Saturday brunch was crowded and there was a party going on. Service was pleasant and didn't find it slow at all. Food offerings were creative and flavorful. They even gave warm cornbread with butter on the side for the table. I had the grilled fish tacos on warm grilled flour tortillas. Hub-luv had the brunchee burger which he LOVED. Parents had pulled pork flatbread which they enjoyed. Prices are fair specially for brunch $10 for unlimited mimosas, bellinis and bloody Maria's! OMG what a hidden gem!! Came here with my family on a rainy Sunday for brunch. My dad wanted to stay local so our options were limited and we picked River Mill purely based on location. I was hesitant because it seemed like we were driving into a residential area. Atmosphere is very casual and bar-like so I didn't expect everything to be as good as it was! Service was attentive and we were greeted with a warm loaf of cornbread to start. Seriously so good and warm and buttery. I could've had just that cornbread for breakfast and be done! Anyways, the menu seemed like normal brunch fare but our dishes were actually rather eclectic and more creative than expected. I ordered the chicken and waffles. This was the strangest rendition of chicken and waffles I've ever had yet it was one of the most delicious. It was almost a tower...starting from the bottom was all sorts of potatoes in a sauce that I couldn't figure out. Atop that sat a singular waffle and syrup. Atop that was the *grilled* chicken (instead of the expected fried), with an egg over medium! SO many flavors and textures, I was almost overwhelmed. Honestly, it was excellent, and I would order it again. Everyone else's dishes were equally complex (and also quite big). We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Given the portion sizes, sharing wouldn't be a terrible idea. My family of 4 will probably share 3 dishes next time. For drinks, we had the mimosa (brunch cocktail and unlimited) and the froze (from the regular cocktail menu). Located on Ocean Ave, just minutes from the SSP, River Mill is tucked away (if possible) on a busy road but with lots of residential areas. It has a parking lot, which is very convenient especially if you are having a large gathering. The menu features many items you'd find at other places but they each have a twist. The group started off with the tuna tacos and dumplings. The tacos were out of this world good. Just the right amount of flavor, crunchiness and that wasabi sauce, wow. The dumplings were nice and fresh, and really good for sharing. We were then given a complimentary dog bacon and cheese dip. Let me tell you, make sure you order this... you will not be disappointed. For dinner I got the Holy Schmidt burger. Really really good too. I was stuffed after everything. Oh, how could I forget all the craft beers on tap. Lots of local seasonal stuff. They were very accommodating to our big group considering that we did not call in advance. The staff tried to seat us all outside as they were very busy inside, which would have worked great had it been a pleasant sunny day but we had to go in eventually as it started to rain and lucky for us the inside had gotten less busy. The food served was excellent certainly. We had the Sunday brunch menu for the large party of about 20 of us. I had the Pulled Pork Hash which was totally delicious and my wife had the French Toast Casserole which we had never seen before but it was very rich and tasty. This is honestly a hidden gem in Lynbrook! I was initially drawn in by the view of their sports bar with tennis playing as a tennis fan. As I walk in, there is actually a whole restaurant in there as well. As a family of 4, we each ordered an entree and two drinks. The total came out to around $200 after tips which isn't bad at all. I came to river mill for a brunch with a party of 20 and the waitress was very attentive to our party. We all opted for the bottomless which was ONLY $10 a head with the purchase of an entree. You have the option of sipping on mimosas, screwdrivers, bloody mary's, beermosas, bellinis, bloody maria's or mellow mary's while you dine in. If thats not enough to get you to check this place out keep reading. Your meal starts with COMPLIMENTARY cornbread that was hands down the BEST cornbread that i've ever had in my life. The edges were perfectly crisp and the inside was soft, almost a creamy consistency. For my meal I ordered the egg in a bowl, which was raved about on other posts and it did not disappoint. The brioche bun was topped with melted cheese, short rib that easily pulled apart, a fried egg, and gravy. The gravy was fantastic and really added something special to the dish. Another crowd favorite was the french toast casserole: Creme Brûlée Custard, Toasted Pecans, Maple Syrup. It's hard enough to please one customer, pleasing 20 is nearly an impossible task but River Mill succeeded!! Not one complaint was made. Friendly staff and absolutely great BARTENDERS!! The wait was about 20 minutes or so but I didn't get impatient waiting by the bar and talking with the bartenders. I asked him to make me something sweet, but not too sweet. He made a yummy drink, but I had to ask him to add more juice (light weight here :)) Once we sat we enjoyed the wings and the tacos! so good! The service was fast and attentive. River Mill has been a spot I frequent weekly since it's inception and you should strongly consider putting it in your restaurant rotation. Lunch and dinner menus are strong with a pleasant blend of old staples and new innovations. Brunch is fantastic as well and my vote for best in the area. Bar area is welcoming and perfect for watching sports year round. Beers on tap are always good and cold and tap lines are clean. New signature cocktails are a welcomed addition. Service is always outstanding and beyond friendly. They go out of their way to be helpful, accommodating, & pleasant no matter the day or the circumstances. My family has a tradition that whenever a cousin turns 21 we take them out to dinner and drinks. Each one has been at a different location. Each has been great for one reason or another. The latest was here at River Mill, and the great part here was the food. Wow, the food was SO good. My brother got the pork chop, and asked me to taste it so that I could be jealous. Putting it all out there - I've been here once. My wife was a big fan of the Swiss Tavern and was anxious to visit River Mill when it opened. We found our opportunity last Monday when we stopped in for lunch. The decor is a beautiful combination of rustic and industrial. The beer list, while not overwhelming had some respectable selections. I had a Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' and my wife had an Ommegang Witte. We ordered Tavern Wings with Sriracha Butter and Kung Pao on the side. The Sriracha had a pleasant kick, but the Kung Pao had a wonderful sweetness with a small bit of smokey heat. The Wings were huge and cooked to perfection. For entrees, I had the Chicken Schnitzel sandwich with Apple, Bacon, Maple Honey, Fontina Cheese and a huge pile of wonderfully spiced fries. My wife had The Ace Steak Sandwich with Garlic Aioli, Swiss Cheese, Arugula, Red Onion and an equally heaping portion of fries. We split the sandwiches and were equally impressed by both. The food here is good for what I remember from past times dining here. However, my family and I came for Mother's Day with a 3:00 reservation. Another reservation that was made before ours came in and they had 13 people instead of the 7 they had made the reservation for. Rather than honoring our reservation, we were knocked back 45mins for another person's mistake. Not a great move..... Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and was impressed that only within an hour of opening the place was filling nicely with about 6 other tables of families and couples dining. The decor has a rustic yet modern feel with brand new wood floors, a huge wine rack in the main dining room, and wallpaper that gives the illusion of a stainless steel tile. For drinks we got bloody Mary's and prosecco. The prosecco took about 20 minutes to get to us because it was in storage. We assumed they were chilling it, which I'm sure they were, but once it reached us it was still room temperature. No big fuss though, they brought it back to the freezer for a little while longer and eventually it was brought to us at the right temperature. To start we got baked chopped clams. These are nothing like your typical buttery baked clams with bread crumbs. these are basically like a bready airy stuffing with chopped clams and other flavors. Needed the lemon juice but still tasty! Then for lunch we each got a flatbread. Huge portions! I could only eat half of my caprese flatbread which was delicious. This chef is a true talent. The menu is far from a typical pub menu with a great selection of creative choices. If you start with the Bavarian Pretzel make sure you have someone to share it with. The dipping sauce is cheese with lump crab meat. It's GIANT and delicious. Crab cakes were really just that ......plenty of fresh crab perfectly seasoned and formed into sizeable cakes. Chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese was excellent. Order any flatbread and be impressed. It's an entire meal...a really good meal. Not sure which burger to order? Order a burger slider trio. Specials change daily. The associates are friendly, helpful and deliver great service. This location has changed hands a couple of times and neither of the first 2 were barn burners. I've only come here on Saturdays for their bottomless mimosas, and even those are great. Service: Amazing, they are busy on weekends but they still give you good service. Always friendly!! The waffle is like dessert lol. The chicken is grilled and the sauce around it is great!! I've also tried the Maple Mustard Salmon and Shrimp Rockefeller entree here and they were great!!! The salmon was so well done, the shrimp Rockefeller was good, shrimp was huge but the cheese sauce was a little weird for me. Still good! Ambiance: Nice scenery outside if there is space available.
