The flavors were all over the place, so everyone can try something different. Had a solid Pilsner that I enjoyed. My wife had to try something crazy so she had samples (4 oz) of the peanut butter and the cinnamon bun beers. They were extremely flavorful but a sample was more than enough of each flavor. Awesome brewery in Ridgeland! I'm from the Charleston area and was driving around HHI/Beaufort so I decided to check this brewery out. The brewery isn't a large place but they have eleven different beers on tap. You can get a flight with four to six different beers so I decided to get six! I'm a big IPA fan and all three of the IPAs were tasty. The other three non IPAs were good as well. I sat at the bar and they had a TV with golf on. Quick service with a knowledgeable staff. Do not sleep on this brewery! This small brewery just outside Bluffton packs a big punch and has some of the best beer in the area. Their Hazy IPAs were amazing and they have other styles that have taken home some big awards (Silver metal sour @ GABF). Glad I checked this place out. read more

The beer here was excellent, and the staff was extremely knowledgable. They made the extra effort to talk about beer, talk about their usage and benefit of things like untappd, going to bottling some items, and also spoke well about other breweries. I did not like their Red IPA, but everything else was awesome. The Lunch Break IPA was a wonderfully smooth IPA, and their Peach Sour was a refreshingly tasty treat. The tap room is decently sized, but the location is horrible. Hidden in a random shopping center with little access to food is about the only downfall for this place. Decided to take an afternoon off the island and explore Bluffton. It was a no brainer to swing by and check this place out. The brewery is tucked away in an industrial park. It was a little tough to find at first but after a trip around we found it. Very clean inside with a small tasting area. There are a few seats at the bar and then some high-top tables.The only downside I can think of is that dogs weren't allowed inside. They had 10 beers on tap so instead of trying to pick one I just got a flight of 6 beers. They have the option of trying their flight of 4 beers or building your own. I was feeling froggy so I made my own. I tried the Salty Dog Pale Ale, River Dog IPA, Perkolatte Coffee Milk Stout, Red IPA, Riverwalk Empire American Pilsner, and the Citrashake Imperial IPA. The River Dog IPA is probably the most popular beer which can be found at most bars around town. The Perkolatte was a very good stout but I think that my favorite is the Citrashake. Something about IPAs with Citra hops just get me. The bartender was very friendly and was telling us all about their operation. Afterwards he gave us some stickers (we decorate our cooler with stickers from everywhere we visit.) This is a cool place to check out whenever you are in the area. read more

Hidden Brew Heaven! While en route to our vacation destination in low country, we stopped for a brew stop and to check out one of the local craft breweries. We had our pup with us but one appeal is the welcome of canines- the owners have definite dog love as proclaimed on their website AND by the nice set-up of hightops and comfy bar stools on the outside. It was a nice warm day so we were happy to sit and had tableside orders for pours. You can choose a flight of your liking and my companion loved his options. At least 12 brews on tap as well as a few listed on the board which was an added bonus! A good stop - the hidden quality is its location in a small office park. Good quality and great choices! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to visit this brewery for the first time while staying in the area. There were 12 brews on tap to select from. The beers were all quite tasty and had very rich flavors. It would be nice to see more than one lager option; maybe a pilsner, too. The bartender, Dan, was friendly and attentive to the patrons. I've visited many breweries at this point so I know that many are located in business parks. This is the nicest business park brewery I have ever seen. There are other small businesses nearby like a dentist and a consignment shop (why didn't I stop there?!?). Seems like it is the middle of nowhere, but there must be a decently-sized population behind all the trees. Anyway, I was looking for a brewery to stop in on the way to checking into hotel in Savannah. The first one I found had a hard to navigate website that left a weird taste in my mouth. Took me a little while to realize the colors and style reminded me of an ad for Spring Break in Cancun and then I realized the frat boy theme was not targeted at me, an old fogy. When I found this website, it was dark with script font and felt super classy. Their website definitely reflects their style. Inside was dark, heavy wood high tables and barstools. There were lots of senior citizens hanging out for drinks and with pups outside. It was quiet so perfect for good conversation. Unfortunately, a family did come in and their young daughter played with an electronic toy with the volume set on the highest level. Otherwise, this place is great! The owners were some of the nicest people that we met in South Carolina. The brewery itself was located kind of in the middle of nowhere and it was quite hard to find. Google Maps will take you the wrong way, so just keep your eyes peeled for the signs! There was a substantial amount of parking there and it's all free! I was really impressed by how nice the tasting room was. It had a down home feel with a charming South Carolina flair. The dark woods were adorned with Carolina flags and cute nautical notions since we were so close to Hilton Head. It looked like a rugged Pinterest-er sailor exploded in the room and made it their own. We were greeted immediately by the owner and the cute bartender. She was a student nearby and was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. We tried the Imperial Perk-o-latte (robust and deep coffee flavors brewed with the local Corner Perk roast) and the Peaches en Floralia which was actually made in Chardonnay wine barrels. It was divine, like a fine mix between a light fruit saison and white wine (even though it was actually a sour blond ale aged on peaches in bourbon then Chardonnay barrels). The beer was so fragrant. I have never had anything like it before. We also tried their River Dog IPA and really enjoyed it. For such a young brewery, River Dog has started off on the right foot. They have starting canning their Riverwalk Empire and I really can't wait for them to can some more (If you are reading this please can the Peaches en Floralia). A short drive from Hilton Head Island, this little brewery is definitely a "must visit" in South Carolina. read more

Man I love this place ! The nitro Milk Stout was so good I bought a growler of it to take home. All the beers I had were great east coast meets west coast beers is the best way to describe River Dog the style they brew. The food truck serving Maine lobster rolls were excellent with my Pilsner and IPAs . So in short I had a freaking fantastic time here. read more

This is neat little brew pub. It is located in a light industrial complex just off the highway that connects Hilton Head Island with I95. They have a decent selection of beer. The have a set of about half a dozen beers that they produce regularly and about an equal number of seasonal or special beers. I had a small flight of samples. I liked their IPA, Saison, and Stout. They seem to be expanding relative to my last visit a year ago; they now are canning several of their brews; I have seen them in grocery stores in the surrounding area. I recommend visiting this brew pub. read more

We are in the beer industry and appreciate visiting other breweries to check out what they're doing. I enjoyed not only an awesome sour but also a imperial perkolatte that knocked my socks off! We hung out for quite a while while having great conversations with Austin, who was a wealth of knowledge, charisma, and funny stories from his trip to Vegas. River Dog is now offering some great food to go with their crafted beers. Very reasonably priced and delicious. Gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, anti-pasta plates, salads, and more are on the offer. I've had a good sampling my last few visits and I can say i liked everything I had, with the pulled pork sliders, and the panini being my favorites so far. I'll try the pizzas next. Excellent beer! a hidden gem!! River Dog has got them all covered. I'm a stout and sour fan (odd I know) and their coffee and peanut butter stouts are superb! Their sours are perfection (especially Untarted Territory). My husband and father had 3 excellent hazy IPAs to choose from. My mom, who is not a beer drinker was thrilled with everything from the Low Country Ambrosia to the Peanut Butter Stout. We are all beuond impressed with River Dog's brewing. Moved from the San Diego and was skeptical of the small town brewery scene of Bluffton. River Dog, from day 1, did not disappoint. Hands down the best craft brewery in the Savannah/Bluffton/Hilton Head area. They have an excellent variety of hoppy, stouts, pilsners, and wheat beers. read more

Very cute. Strange location inside a business park. The employee was very nice, I liked the inside and the pictures of the dogs by the bathrooms but was not into their beers.I split a flight with my husband and there wasn't a single one I would have ordered a full pint of. We each pawned one of our least favorites on each other to finish. Maybe it's my Yankee tastebuds but there wasn't much substance to any of them and while their IPA started out good it had a really off aftertaste. I had really high hopes after reading the reviews but I wasn't impressed. read more

Huge fan of the Perkolatte beer collaboration with Corner Perk. The staff are all super friendly and can make a great recommendation on brews based on a description of beers you like. The tour is fantastic and full of information. It does get a little warm in the brewing area, so be aware of that. read more
