The shop itself was wonderfully decorated and had a wide variety of books and souvenirs. I went to the shop a few times during the week we were there. All of the customer service staff at the shop were amazing, one of which went digging through boxes in the back for 5 minutes so they could find my size in a shirt I really wanted. Since my partner and I were there to celebrate my birthday, we decided to splurge for the bus tour so I could see the local cemeteries. Our tour guide was Lady Lex who had big theatre kid energy in the best way. She was incredibly engaging and patient with everyone who wanted to take a lot of photos. Our bus driver Robert was great as well. I was truly appreciative of Lady Alex's statement at the cemetery that while the stories are intriguing, ultimately they are about real people who lost their lives and we should respect the tragedy of that. While I love a good ghost/true crime story, I think it's important to humanize the subjects of those stories. Overall I had a fantastic time and was really thrilled to see the beautiful architecture of the Menger Hotel and local cemetery. I would definitely recommend the shop and the tour.

Meanwhile, the captain's just cruising along like, "This is fine. This is my Tuesday." Daytime? Beautiful, classy, postcard stuff. Nighttime? Turns into a floating bar fight with better lighting and a tour guide doing stand-up. End result: I came for a relaxing boat ride... Left feeling like I survived a low-speed aquatic bar brawl in one of the best spots in Texas.

Bridge crossings and ramps throughout are helpful. You can make this a river walk or a shopping trip, it can be as budget friendly as you like.

Just being able to walk around them, with most of the curtains and blinds closed seemed lacking. Being able to use the emf readers and spirit box was really cool, although the spirit box died after about 10 minutes and there were no extra batteries which was upsetting, especially for paying $30 for an hour tour. Monte, our storyteller, told us this story of the Alamo, I felt as though I was there! People gathered and it was free will offering into the hat. He was better than any taped headphone set. He was very knowledgeable and gave people his time to answer plenty of questions. Monte is a must see while at the Alamo plaza! He even mentioned he has other points of interest in town to tell about...I can't wait to visit again. Monte will be on my list.
