The shop itself was wonderfully decorated and had a wide variety of books and souvenirs. I went to the shop a few times during the week we were there. All of the customer service staff at the shop were amazing, one of which went digging through boxes in the back for 5 minutes so they could find my size in a shirt I really wanted. Since my partner and I were there to celebrate my birthday, we decided to splurge for the bus tour so I could see the local cemeteries. Our tour guide was Lady Lex who had big theatre kid energy in the best way. She was incredibly engaging and patient with everyone who wanted to take a lot of photos. Our bus driver Robert was great as well. I was truly appreciative of Lady Alex's statement at the cemetery that while the stories are intriguing, ultimately they are about real people who lost their lives and we should respect the tragedy of that. While I love a good ghost/true crime story, I think it's important to humanize the subjects of those stories. Overall I had a fantastic time and was really thrilled to see the beautiful architecture of the Menger Hotel and local cemetery. I would definitely recommend the shop and the tour.

The heat and humidity added to the discomfort but that's on nature, I'm not holding that against SG. In fact, I don't have a clue how the host conducted the tour in costume in the 90 degree, 90% humidity without breaking a sweat. Jules was our guide and I just have to hand it to him for tolerating my friends and I for displaying the opposite reaction to whatever reaction he was trying to manufacture via his story telling. No one welcomes a ghost touching up our leg at Moses Roses more than us - I guess. So you begin the tour with a welcome from Jules, rules and regulations and finally initiate a ritual by looking up at the moon and welcoming all spirits by howling at the moon really loud. You want to do it so loud that people passing by turn and possibly wonder if you are okay. We went to 5 bars total- there were drink specials at each bar which was nice. My favorite perk was vip entrance access to Pat O'Brien bar. We will walk to the ends of the earth for a good buffet, Peter Piper Pizza, Pluckers (just to name a few) -but avoiding half a block to the main entrance... well were LIVING. Look in all honesty - If you're trying to enjoy a drunk night out - this may not be for you because I can see how standing outside bars listening to a 20 min haunted story could be a buzz kill. Now, if you're genuinely interested in history and spooky stories - then this would be great. Stories were pretty interesting and surprisingly I remember all of them - someone quiz me now. I wouldn't say this is a SCARY experience overall so keep that in mind. If you want to get scared just order an Uber XL right afterwards - prices are ridiculous and you may get our driver who drove the most reckless.

We visited a few houses and the court house in Corpus Christi. I wish we were actually able to go into at least one of the buildings. Just being able to walk around them, with most of the curtains and blinds closed seemed lacking. Being able to use the emf readers and spirit box was really cool, although the spirit box died after about 10 minutes and there were no extra batteries which was upsetting, especially for paying $30 for an hour tour. It's easy to see why this is one of the most visited cave sites for tourism worldwide and the…read moremost-visited in Texas. It's a very well-developed cave to visit. By "developed", I mean that lighting and a path has been installed to make traversing it A LOT easier than when it was discovered. By "path", I mean smooth, textured, non-slip, paved sidewalks from one end of the tour to the other--complete with stainless steel handrails along almost every step of it. The effort it took to make a cave system this accessible is beyond commendable. At one end of one of the tours there is a long uphill slope to get out of the cavern, but you don't have to walk--they have a roller/conveyor belt that you stand on and ride to the top. The erosion-carved rocky "rooms" of the cave system defy description. They are up to 100 feet tall, 100 feet wide, and over 200 feet long, and are filled with otherworldly mineral formations that have been actively "growing" for millions of years. Photos don't do this justice. When you see it in person, it's just breathtaking. Adult-only tours would be an occasional welcome option, as a less-than-silent baby/toddler ruins the silence that the below-ground space allows. Parking is abundant, but it is not free. Even out in the spacious Texas Hill Country they decided that $10 per car was appropriate. I hate paying to park (anywhere), and in a rural setting like this, it just feels like such a shameless money-grab! I wish they'd just charge more for the tours and let us feel like parking is "free". More intensive, deeper tours for small groups that require higher effort into undeveloped parts of the caverns are offered on a limited basis. This sounds like something worth returning for.

I didn't realize that Tykes is on the bottom level of the regular course, which was nice because it meant we all got to be in the same place. The people were nice and competent. If I could change one thing, I think the zip rails needed some lubricant. By 45 minutes both of my tweens were tired out. They enjoyed the gift shop while I finished out the highest zip rails, which were thankfully a little bit faster than the lower ones.
