I'm a sucker for a spooky tourist spot so I was really excited to find out about Sisters Grimm while planning my first trip to Texas. The shop itself was wonderfully decorated and had a wide variety of books and souvenirs. I went to the shop a few times during the week we were there. All of the customer service staff at the shop were amazing, one of which went digging through boxes in the back for 5 minutes so they could find my size in a shirt I really wanted. Since my partner and I were there to celebrate my birthday, we decided to splurge for the bus tour so I could see the local cemeteries. Our tour guide was Lady Lex who had big theatre kid energy in the best way. She was incredibly engaging and patient with everyone who wanted to take a lot of photos. Our bus driver Robert was great as well. I was truly appreciative of Lady Alex's statement at the cemetery that while the stories are intriguing, ultimately they are about real people who lost their lives and we should respect the tragedy of that. While I love a good ghost/true crime story, I think it's important to humanize the subjects of those stories. Overall I had a fantastic time and was really thrilled to see the beautiful architecture of the Menger Hotel and local cemetery. I would definitely recommend the shop and the tour. read more

Sister Grimm has a great shop downtown. It is easy to find per their instructions. We signed up for the walking tour for several reasons: I thought we would have more opportunity to interact with the guide and the tour would be a 1 1/2 hour long rather than the 2/1/2 hour bus tour. There was Plenty interaction with the very knowledgeable and articulate tour guide who was additionally able to share a few of their own ghostly experiences which made it all very real. The apparitions at the Menger Hotel made great stories. However, the tour went over the 1 1/2 hours which was fine but THEN you walk all the way back another at least 1/2 mile to where you started. It was late and exhausting. The trek back was at least 35 minutes. Then we had to walk back through the mall to the car-another 15 minutes. My thought was...should have taken the bus tour in the end it was about the same length of time and no exhausting walking in the heat. We were dehydrated and sweaty and tired which sort of took the fun out of the tour. Over all my 12 year old LOVED it. My older daughter thought it was good. I liked it but not the sweaty tired part. My Parkinsons husband was spent and a bit grumpy. My advice....take the bus tour. read more

Sisters Grimm is a fun shop to visit if you're visiting Downtown and are looking for some Gothic literature and some unique finds. We found some amazing perfume, a Journal, a spooky puzzle, and a couple books. The store has a sitting parlor which is so lovely and spooky. I was hoping for a few more Oddities. They had some beautiful pinned insects but was hoping for more GRIMM oddities. They also give Ghost Tours, which we didn't have a chance to attend. read more

If it weren't for our tour guide Graveyard Greg, the Sisters Grimm Ghost Tours would be less than 5 stars. I listened to other tour guides during our San Antonio visit... their speeches just weren't as energetic, fluid, or knowledgeable. The other garrulous tour guides added unnecessary filler information and had long pauses... and walked kind of slow. Donned in black cowboy hat and boots, Graveyard Greg exited out of the Sisters Grimm shop where paranormal fanatics awaited with assigned bracelets. We walked several blocks, learning about ghost sightings, historical insights, horror stories, and the last hanging in Texas. My daughters were 10 and 11 at the time. While the subject matter was grim and gory, Greg explained the past exceedingly well and in large part refrained from derogatory language. I booked our Haunted History Walk as part of a package for staying at the nearby Menger Hotel. Our tour was Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm. If memory serves, I could not sign us up for the much longer bus tour because drinks were served and my underage children were in tow. TIPS + wear comfortable walking shoes + if warm-to-hot weather is in the forecast, bring water and wear clothing that will help keep you cool. Even at night in May Texas can be hot... plus a young woman in our group passed out & slammed her head on the concrete. This is one of the consistent places or things we do in San Antonio. We have been on every version of their tours, walking, bus, graveyard. We went to the shop in its first location and now it has a spot right in the Menger where it's tours start. They pack quite a bit into the space, and have a wide variety of displays and items for sale from Harry Potter stuff(boo) to books on lady poisioners and places to visit with a dark history as well as a let's summon demons coloring book! They have fun signs and stickers. Cool artwork and knickknacks as well as pursers Shana loved. One that is shaped and looks like a hearse and another with a clock that works as part of it! SHANA SAYS: I want to live here, not buy the stuff and decorate my home, but just live here. They had a cool handmade doll and so much other stuff as well as the tours. I really wanted to love this ghost tour, but unfortunately, it missed the mark in several ways. Our guide was a super sweet and funny guy who was clearly passionate about what he does. He also dressed the part--his top hat and tall frame made him easy to spot, which was great for keeping our group engaged. The highlight of the tour was the Menger Hotel. The haunted history of this place is fascinating, and it truly had an eerie energy. Our guide did a great job sharing stories about Sally White and the more haunted rooms, but I wish he had gone deeper into some of the more well-known ghostly activity, like reports of levitating beds and unexplained cigar smoke. Still, this stop was the most engaging part of the tour, and the pictures of apparitions (one on his iPad, another framed in the hotel) added a nice touch. From there, we got on the tour bus, where we watched a local news segment about hauntings at the hotel. This part was actually really interesting and added credibility to the stories, making it feel more like a true ghost-hunting experience. However, things started to go downhill after that. 1 The tour was way too long--advertised as 2 hours but stretched into 3. A big chunk of that was spent in a pitch-black cemetery, where we listened to a very long-winded explanation of seances, personal stories from our guide, and previous sightings. While I appreciate his enthusiasm, it just didn't feel like a ghost tour at that point--it felt more like a personal monologue that went on too long, especially given that we were freezing and visibly uncomfortable. 2 The tipping speech at the end felt off. When we finally made it back to the bus, the guide didn't open the doors right away and instead gave a speech about how they "live on tips" and how this is "how I feed my family." He then reminded us that both he and the bus driver expected tips and listed every payment option available (CashApp, Venmo, Zelle, etc.). I absolutely believe in tipping, but after paying $110 for two tickets--and with a group of 30+ people--it just left a bad taste in my mouth. It felt like a high-pressure sales pitch rather than an optional show of appreciation. Overall, our group had a great energy, which made the night more enjoyable, but the tour itself was lacking as a ghost tour. It felt more like a history lesson with ghost stories sprinkled in, rather than a truly immersive paranormal experience. If you love San Antonio history and don't mind a longer tour with lots of storytelling, you might enjoy this. But if you're looking for a spooky, ghost-hunting adventure, this may not be the best fit. read more

We joined this tour a week and a half ago while we were in town for our wedding anniversary. We almost moved to s.a. so this town means a lot to us. We have wanted to take this particular tour for a few years now but its so rare we are here without our toddlers/babies in tow. We were scheduled for a 9 pm tour but they combined us to the 8 pm and it was perfect. A group of 8, and our tour guide was great, Dark Alley. I enjoyed her story telling very much. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting S.A. She said it perfectly that if you open yourself up to the experience great, but if you dont, you dont. And that's it. I dont really leave myself open and in fact didnt take a single pic of a ghost bc things do tend to follow me and I dont want to bring anything home to my kids. They definitely didnt ask to go on a ghost tour, lol. We loved going to casa navarro and all the other locations they took us on. I forgot to ask why the dinner tours were off.. that seems like a very cool evening. read more

Loved this ghost tour. Lady Lex led us and she dressed and acted the part. She is totally into the whole "spooky" genre. I really enjoyed her voice, her entirely genre appropriate dress and her knowledge of the old school San Antonio history. She did an excellent job. I have been to San Antonio three prior times and this tour showed me a part that I had never experienced. There is so much history and drama associated with this city. The old hotels are phenomenal. This is the best of the San Antonio ghost tours you can take.  The rich history is shared in a very interesting way.  Both children and adults on my tour were kept engaged. Our guide, Stewart the Strange, had terrific photos to share with us as we went to each haunted location. Each photo had terrific images of the paranormal activity. He explained each photo, helping us understand who our what we were seeing.  We learned a lot of information about specific ghosts and haunted locations.  He was very dynamic and animated when he shared the stories.  I now, officially, will not be going to the Holiday Inn or Gunter. Stewart the Strange wore a headset that broadcast his voice for all twenty of us to hear. He also kept us moving at a comfortable pace. My wife and I were visiting San Antonio for our anniversary. My knee has been hurting, so we opted for the bus tour. Lili at the shop was kind and helpful. It is a fun place to shop. This is where the tour meets. Sean, our tour guide, was full of tons of history to share. He was funny, sarcastic, heartfelt, witty, and just entertaining. He was a great storyteller too! The bus driver (Robert, maybe? Im sorry. I forgot) was safe and even kicked in some humor. The tour had videos and pictures to share on the bus. We started at the Menger Hotel, drove by several haunted locations, stopped at an old house near the old Red Light District, the spanish governor's mansion, and a trip through the cemetery at night. I have done a lot of ghost tours around the US and even abroad, and this is one of the very best I have been on! It was a good mix of history, humor, and theatrics, and because it is on the "ghost bus," it covered an impressive amount of ground. Our hostess, Lady Lex, was terrific. She had the perfect mix of whimsy and seriousness (and she gave a Cure shout out, so of course I loved her!). We went from place to place with the expert driving of Cindy, and Lady Lex kept things interesting as we moved along, making you almost forget you were being transported around the city. The stops along the tour were all interesting, and she gave us a great picture of the haunted background of San Antonio. Stayed the night at the Menger Hotel (we're locals). The next morning decided to check out the shop Sisters Grimm. AWFUL customer service & hospitality. I will never step foot into that shop ever again. The girl working there yesterday (8/21 11am) has the worst customer service. We get it Miss Goth/Wednesday attitude. You're miserable & hate your job/people. BUT we have always wanted to do the Sisters Grimm Ghost Tour... Pfft if that's how you're treated. No thanks! I wanted easily 4 different items at that store, but after getting that kind of service I would never give y'all my hard earned money. We travel annually to a new city and nearly always do a ghost tour in that town. I really enjoyed the Sister's Grimm Ghost Tour. For me, I'm not really that into the ghost aspect, but there always seems to be a little history mixed in - about the buildings, spaces and places and/or about the dearly departed who may be appearing in spectral form. The Sister's Grimm tour included EMF readers which is always a nice touch for those who are more into the ghostly or those who want to get ghost bumps, I mean, goose bumps. ;) Some of our friends who went on this tour ended up visiting some of the sites by day that we visited on the tour at night - ghost tours are great to do early in your visit to a new city for that reason. 10/10 recommend. read more

We live in a tourist city, but we never do any of the touristy things. So last night, we stayed up way past our bedtimes and hopped on the Ghost Bus to tour around downtown. It was fascinating getting to hear some of the lesser known history surrounding our city.
