I will not return to River Canyon Lodge. Last time I was there for a Half Marathon, I thought they had billed me and had not budgeted for the hotel bill. They had not, but that was my mistake. I booked a room for the half marathon coming up in March. They immediately billed me, which I did not plan on. Its caused a huge problem and left me with zero dollars. I spoke to the lodge. First they tried to blame it on the website I booked through. Then they explained that they normally don't bill immediately, but they are treating the Half Marathon weekend differently and there are no refunds/cancellations. Its no wonder the Half Marathon organizers do not recommend that people stay here. I explained that I had planned on being a loyal customer, given them a great Yelp, and enjoyed staying there, but this would be a game changer. They did not care. Its a shame, they have a good location, friendly staff, and plenty of parking. I still don't understand why they would choose to be more restrictive with this half marathon. read more

I've been going to Moab for many years ( spring and fall) and staying at the River Canyon almost every time. In my opinion you get great value for what you pay for. We have always been given great service. We went most recently this Monday April 7 and stayed until Thursday the 10th. We have come to know Austina at the front desk. She is delightful. This time however she was off ( on vacation I hope) and we were greeted by Lisa who also gave us excellent service. The River Canyon has a great swimming pool and Moabs largest hot tub. It is conveniently located within walking distance to everything downtown. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished. They are biker friendly. I'd give it a 4-1/2 if I could. read more

Quaint hotel. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Willing to help book your excursions or give tips/recommendations about the area. Hang out in the lobby to enjoy the local vibe. Only con was no breakfast. But have a great recommendation of the Pancake Haus. Will be back next trip to Moab. read more

We stayed here two nights and they didn't have breakfast, boo! The swimming pool and huge hot tub, made it worth the trip. The only time I got in the pool my entire trip and it was worth it. The hot tub is for 12 people. The room was nice and so was the lobby. Great location close to everything, town park nearby. If I'm going to pay a lot for a room I want my free breakfast. This was the only place we stayed that didn't have breakfast. read more

My husband and I were in town for the Canyonlands Half Marathon. The rates were steep for a motel, but that was the case for all lodging in Moab this particular weekend. The staff were very courteous, the rooms clean, albeit small. But this is a motel and it wasn't a surprise. The microwave, fridge, and large flat screen tv were good amenities. The bed was smaller/basic, but comfortable enough. We would stay here again. read more

The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. I was very uncomfortable in the bed and the manager let me out of the 2nd night of my reservation though according to their policy, he did not have to do. I would recommend this hotel for sure and the location in Moab is within walking distance of many amenities in downtown Moab. Thank you to the staff! read more

This place was clean and affordable. Besides from the large amounts of screaming children and thin walls, it was great!

You get what you pay for in life, this place is NO different. The location is great, right in town, you can walk to everything. Unfortunately, things fall apart from there. Terrible service at the front desk, I almost walked out, but everything else was full and I didn't want to sleep in my truck. Once in my room I noticed how dirty it really was and there was even an old box of cereal in the cupboard. This box of cereal was the ONLY thing in any of the cupboards, nothing else.. Fortunately, the bathroom was fairly clean and the shower worked. This hotel is in need of a major renovation and deep cleaning. Good luck read more

The bedroom and bathroom were clean, and the beds were comfortable. The water never gets cold from the bathroom faucet. Bathroom fixtures were falling apart (sink faucet came apart) or about to (the towel rack sat at a 30-degree angle from horizontal and wiggles when one touches it). Biggest complaint: the staff. When we checked in, it wasn't busy at all, yet the front desk staff acted as though nothing could put them out more. One employee was disinterested, one was overtly rude. The place is fine if you need somewhere to crash, but I would recommend this place only if everywhere else in town is booked. read more

For the money, my room was great. Clean, comfortable, convenient. The three "C's." It is not a luxury stay, but for a nights stay, perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. I booked the room through Expedia and the transaction was seamless. I would stay here again. read more

We had arrived at this hotel after reading some reviews and were pleased to see it had onsite parking, as we had been told otherwise. Upon entering the hotel, the doors were unpainted, but we figured they were going for a rustic feel. When we tried to enter the room, the key didn't work, so we had to return to the front desk to get that fixed. After getting the key fixed, we entered the room which had a very strong, unpleasant odor. The bed spreads were old and upon inspecting the beds we noticed stains on one of the mattresses. The room had mirrors above the bed and the room itself was extremely small. The comforters appeared to have not been changed since 1983. The air conditioning was as loud as an oncoming freight train. We felt bad for the suitcases that they had to remain in the hotel room while we drank our sorrows away. We felt we could not comfortably sleep here after two long days of hiking, so we tried cancelling our reservation. Understandably, we were told we couldn't be refunded for the first night, as we had already checked in. We decided we would rather pay over $200 a night for alternative accommodations then remain in this hotel for a single night. Two days later, we still have not heard back about whether we would be refunded for the second night. If you want to save $500 and the stress of finding last minute accommodations, i would strongly encourage you book somewhere else. read more

i am a nice person, but i travel a lot and this was one of the worst hotels i have been to. the air conditioning didn't work, we asked if they could fix it and the guy never came and they did the bare minimum to help us. it was too hot to handle trust me. the microwave doesn't work, the fridge works but it froze our sandwiches. i understand these are hard times but management didn't seem to care about us at all read more

Night female receptionist was unfriendly and condescending toward foreigners. Management needs to coach employees in customer care and be aware that the successful hotel business is mostly based on customer service and how they make their guests feel welcome. This facility is ok for the price but need to have insect control. Especially when the room door is not fully sealed. You can see the hallway light when it is fully closed. A pea size live bug was found on the blanket and mosquitoes were every where in the building. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless the above issues are corrected. read more

This place is decent. Is pet friendly. The rooms clean. The two staff at the front desk were not from the area. One from Turkey and the other from Thailand, so they didn't know what other places to recommend on I-70 and I-15 to see along the way. Plenty of parking space for a 22' moving truck and trailer at the back. WiFi access is a plus (this is getting more standard these days, but can't assume it will be there). No breakfast included which for the price I think they could have. Could be $20 cheaper per room/night I suppose. read more

This is a wonderful dog-friendly place to stay for a great price. The people at the front desk were very nice, the rooms were clean and spacious, there was plenty of parking, and it is within walking distance of all of the shops and restaurants. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

Very helpful and friendly front desk staff. We stayed in a small queen bed room on the third floor. The room was clean. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, which were both clean. Home is close walk to downtown! Our room had views of red rocks surrounding Moab. read more

Hot tub sucks & so does the wifi but can't beat the price & the swimming pool.. it is large. Rooms aren't the most comfortable but for the price, what do you expect. Lots of room to park trailers, etc. Cleaning staff is good. read more

Our stay here was very enjoyable. The rooms are clean and had everything we needed. The best part was the location of the hotel, right off of Main Street and in walking distance of restaurants and shops. No continental breakfast which was a bummer but they do give you a coupon for a local breakfast place. Would definitely stay here again! read more

Good location. Clean, Bike friendly. Daytime front desk girl is pre-occupied,and seems annoyed by any request.

For a good nights sleep this place is off the main drag but still downtown so you can walk to everywhere, the rooms are nice and big, really dog friendly..dog treats at the front desk and dog water in the lobby, the rooms on 1st floor are for guests with pets so no worries if you want a room where no pets are allowed, tons of parking no matter what you are driving including rig pulling a trailer, there were several in the lot and still plenty of parking for all, the staff was great, okay no breakfast but if that is what you want all the places that have breakfast cost way more. So unless you have at least 4 people in your family cheaper to pay and go eat breakfast where you want. read more

Good price point and location. Other than that, a pretty substandard hotel. It took over an hour to get an extra blanket. Within two hours of checking in, we said a light bulb was burned out. It was never replaced. The window seats in the queen rooms are not upholstered as advertised. When I discussed my concerns with the front desk, the person I talked to threw another co-worker under the bus and said she couldn't do anything because her manager had already left and I booked the hotel through a third party. Overall a poor experience. read more

The rooms are amazingly small. It's really a feat how they crammed so much stuff in such a small room. Normally I wouldn't even care about that, but it's shocking how little open space there is, and how claustrophobic and can make you feel. The sink is located in the bathroom, which is really annoying when you are traveling with anyone else. Also, the walls are super paper thin. I could hear the people talking in the room next door at night, and they were clearly not speaking loudly. The doors on the rooms slam shut and you hear that all night. No breakfast is included. The Wi Fi is painfully slow. On the plus side, the place is clean, it is well located close to main street, and the hot tub is nice. read more

Spend 3 days there on a recent dirt biking trip to Moab. Outstanding value!!!!!! Nothing fancy...but everything you need for a great stay. Very clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff, and great location. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. read more

You really can't beat the location of this hotel. We parked our car and walked to great restaurants, shopping, and the main street of Moab. We really liked that our room had a kitchenette that provided a refrigerator, microwave, extra sink, and lots of storage. It also had a large TV, good wifi, rollaway beds (for $10), pool & spa (however the spa is broken), and plenty of outlets. The downsides of the place were: the staff was very unhelpful, there isn't a laundry facility onsite, and the kitchenette divides the room so one half is cold and the other is hot. Also, they don't provide breakfast, but with so many great restaurants nearby it wasn't a problem. read more

The hotel was clean and well located. The furniture is modern but the rooms are tiny. The hotel seems to be made of thin walls and cheap construction. There was no free breakfast, only a $5-off voucher (per room, not per person) for a pancake breakfast somewhere else. I made the mistake of accidentally leaving a jacket behind. Unfortunately, the hotel staff never found it. read more

This was a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced motel. The location near the National parks and a lot of eateries really was perfect! We rented a Jeep from canyonlands jeep rental for our first day but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone! Since the motel is in a quiet location, we slept well. We rented a Jeep from Twisted Jeep Rentals and had a super day! read more

It's so nice to enjoy the experience of someone going the extra mile. Not only is the place clean, comfortable & centrally located but the staff was great. We were visiting Moab for the weekend and chose River Canyon Lodge, in part, because of their kitchenettes in each room. My son has severe food allergies so eating out is generally not an option. Wouldn't you know it? He ended up having an allergic reaction to something that we brought into our room (still not sure what) that required an epinephrine shot and trip to the ER (right around the corner). After he was in the clear and released we contemplated cutting our trip short because we didn't want to risk him having another reaction in our room (again not their fault). Our only other option was to see if we could switch to a new room. We decided it couldn't hurt to ask and even though they were at full capacity, Jade and her manager gladly moved us to a new room and even made us feel like real humans in the process. Thank you for inconveniencing yourselves and allowing us to enjoy a restful nights sleep because of it! We are definitely fans. read more

I would stay at this motel again on another visit to Moab as it is clean, a block from down town, and a comfortable place. But, I would only book a room for the 3rd floor. I think the rationale to have wood floors was for the ease of keeping the floor clean and looking nice, but it is quite annoying if you have people in rooms above you, especially if they have kids, as the ceilings seem paper thin. That being said, it had a fridge, microwave and comfortable beds. The hot tub and pool are good and the staff was pleasant. Odd, the WIFI complaints I have read were not evident during my stay, I actually was pulling about 80 mbps and was flying through emails and the internet, I suspect they got that issue fixed as of 4/2017. Oh, it was rather odd on a drizzly night where they told everyone to get out of the pool and hot tub because of lightening and insurance reasons, there wasn't thunder or lightening anywhere, they should revisit that policy. read more

Not friendly, not helpful, not recommending it. Arrived late wanting a two-bed room. Altho my booking did have an error re this I had requested a roll-out bed in the booking. What happens? We fight for ten minutes with desk person wanting to prove I made a mistake. I am offered a suite at +$50 which wont allow the small service dog. She rolls out a rollaway and leaves it by the elevator. I take it up to the room -which is stiflingly hot - the only one of 6 hotels on this trip that didn't pre-cool the room and the most expensive and the smallest. The rollaway will not fit in the room - insufficient floorspace to put it anywhere let alone actually open it. I take it back down. "You should have made the right booking". Yes there is a $25 fee for a service dog absent a certificate from State of Utah - like a traveller would have one and no sich fee was disclosed on the confirmation. am re-offered the non pet-accepting upgrade suite. My partner sleeps on the floor. We leave. No shade whatsoever in the parking lot and its mega hot and sunny here. Lobby is attractive. not much else is. Dont go. read more
