In Moab while experiencing Arches and Canyon Lands we decided to spend the night. Of course we always travel with our dog Max and so the search began. Most "pet friendly" motels charged a whopping $70 per night for a dog. Not what i call friendly. But we found the Expedition Lodge that was not only pet friendly but welcomed dogs with no fee. On check in the vlerk was friendly, moved us to an upstairs rooom. This was once a Travel Lodge then a Rodeway before current owners took it over and renovated. The place has a funky 50s vibe of Happy Days and is extremely family friendly. It had a very nice pool with a dynamite slide and an arcade with ping pong and video games. The room was very clean with two queen beds, retro fridge and microwave. Red tuffets sate at the end of each bed for sitting ir luggage plus a chair. The floors are quality plank vinal and clean. The bathroom was a kick with a huge tub shower and toilet in 60s avocado green. Uograded shower head. Upgraded thru the wall ac kept the room very cool with a minimum og noise. Double paned windows. Breakfast include standard coninental fare PLUS hard boiled eggs, waffles you make plus Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. It was very good. Breakfast room is good sized with vinal records on the wall. Fun. Yes it is an older motel right on main street so there is some street noise. Yes it is not luxury. But this is a very nice, clean place to stay with your pet and or family. We've stayed the Expedition Lodge every President's Day weekend for several years now. If you have kids and dogs, this is the place to go! They have a heated pool with a slide, and a hot tub. This year the hot tub seemed dirty and didn't seem to receive any maintenance or cleaning entire weekend we were there. They have a great breakfast with hot items like waffles and egg sausage sandwiches you can microwave. The cafe space is nice, and we would hang out there in the evening and play games. They have an arcade and ping pong table as well. Our room this year was clean and in good shape, other than our coffee maker not working. read more

We went for 4 days to hike in the Arches park. This hotel is very clean, well located. Bedroom is big, well arranged, bathroom a bit small but not minuscule. They could have done a better for the sound isolation between first and second floor. The breakfast are good, the restaurant bathrooms is quite 60s but with a SPA (see picture) Anyway we are pleased and thought we would spread the word. read more

This was our first stop on our cross country trip from Tucson Az to Brooklyn NY. The room is darling and clean with comfortable beds. The bathroom was nice and clean with shampoo, conditioner and body wash that smelled fantastic. Did I mention dog friendly? We got in late and had to leave so we did not get to use the pool but it had a water slide that looked like so much fun. Right in the middle of town near all kinds of coffee shops and shops. I got a good price early in the season. Room was big, comfortable and had cool retro style microwave & fridge. Breakfast area is very stylish with a wall of classic vinyl and record covers, jukebox, art and seating. Microwave egg sandwiches and the usual fare. Main Street traffic is a little noisy, but I bet everyone slept well, considering all the adventurous activities in the area. Small roadside heated pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. Guests were busy reloading gear and exchanging tips for best places to go for photos. Fun place, good base and nice vibe. read more

Great stay! Yes, our reservation was lost. Snd our room was no longer available, BUT the staff went above and beyond and gave us 2 connecting rooms. There was a Pool (and towels), hot tub, FREE game room, FREE breakfast (fresh waffles, Jimmy Dean sandwiches, yogurt, juice, and so much more more!!) Rooms were clean, the staff was great! We got nervous bc someone in town said it was dirty and the staff was lazy, but it was the complete opposite! Very clean and the staff(especially for breakfast) was moving quickly and none of the food or drink items went empty. Would absolutely come back to here again if the opportunity arises. read more

#1 Arrived late because of a snowstorm. No one picked up the phone all day, so it was unknown how to check in, which caused us to worry all day, and stress about what we were to do once we arrived. There was no voicemail, or instruction. When we arrived there was a small note on the door saying to go next door, where there was a strange looking man hanging out outside, and I had to ask if he worked there, as he looked like a random person from the street. If you don't have a voicemail explaining what to do, why not have the phone ring in the place someone is actually taking care of check ins? Horrible customer service. #2 At almost $200 a night, our room was extremely loud, guests and traffic from the street were extremely loud, because all walls are paper thin. #3 Many things were broken in the room, including the padlock on the front door, the heater and vent in the bathroom, the toilet seat, and plug by the bed. I feel like this is a $65 dollar room tops, very subpar experience, the only thing that made up for it was the beautiful surroundings. This place needs to fix everything broken and fix the check in process, and lower the cost of rooms. Would not stay here again. read more

I had no idea what to expect, but we were totally drawn in by the old fashioned charm this hotel seemed to have. It harkens back to a simpler time of roadside motels. Oh my gosh! We were so happy with our stay here. We checked in and although the parking was a bit busy, there was plenty of room. We just had to walk about 50 feet to our room. No big deal. Our room was charming and spotless. I'm the type to carry wet wipes with us to clean. But I didn't need them. It was very clean. The bathtub and toilet were 1970's green. The kids were horrified! We thought it was hilarious. There was an old fashioned phone and new "vintage looking" appliances. Breakfast was amazing with a very clean space and a very attentive attendant. Wow!! We had a lovely time! My 13 and 14 year old sons enjoyed our stay at the Expedition Lodge! My husband and I were skeptical at the cost, but we decided a unique experience would be worth taking the risk! It was worth the cost for our stay! We arrived around 8:30 pm and our boys were able to swim and slide for a few hours and play ping pong and video games! Our room was unique with 3 queen beds!! Again, after being on the road with teenagers, they were excited about having their own bed for the night! The beds were comfortable and we all had a good night's sleep! Breakfast was mediocre. They offered Texas waffles, yogurt, cereal, and an assortment of breads and fruit. Coffee was decent! The decor was amazing! We loved the record wall, 50's themed tables and chairs, but BEST of all, this place was clean! The breakfast area looked like June Cleaver cleaned it herself!! What a quaint little stop! read more

Save yourselves, this place is every man for himself and it's time to get out while you can. I was drawn by the Jeep hanging by the road as part of their road sign, but after checking in I found a room full of *nope. I like the idea of hard floors because in theory, it's super easy to clean them with soap and a wet mop, but unfortunately, these floors came with a layer of dirt and grime which covered them. I found strands of loose hair on the floors and layered within the bed sheets. The furnishings were pleasant enough, nothing particularly special with a get the job done and check all the boxes type of design. I knew going into the that I wasn't getting luxury, but in a time like 2020 a lot more effort on cleanliness should be taken, A LOT. I tried to convince myself that this was ok enough, bring in the sleeping bag and don't touch anything while you're in the room but after 30 minutes in the room I just couldn't subject myself and the family to this place any longer. I called the front desk up, asked them to cancel my stay and refund the card. Without much defense, apology or attempt to rectify the cleanliness issues, they agreed to check me out of the hotel and I drove down the street to another hotel. I don't know what else to say but, I hope that the management here is able to take more care and attention to the way their rooms are getting cleaned and turned over so that other guests never have to experience what I did. Room with two queen beds was very spacious along with a teal colored mini retro fridge. Very cute. We were on the second floor & after 5 nights, we figured the best rooms are right in the very middle, like where the bend is so you're in the corner shielded from the street noise. You'll feel the room vibrate from the semi's coming into town but nothing you can't sleep thru unless you're an extremely light sleeper, besides after a day of hikes you'll pass out and not even notice it. The mattress I slept in was alright, bed creaked a bit but nothing major. I travel with my ergonomic pillow which saves me in my travels. Shower Water pressure wasn't exactly strong but sufficient. Hubs said shower drain clogged a bit, I guess he unclogged it before it was my turn. Breakfast was poor. There's not much variety. Instead of having scrambled eggs and bacon hot plates, you'll get the egg and sausage patty with fake cheese on a English muffin which you'll pop in the micro. There's a fruit basket, mainly green apples (who likes those? Lol) bananas and oranges. Plus two yogurt options and tons of bread slices and muffins. The breakfast room is spacious and decorated nicely tho. Theres a handful of board games and a game room with old arcade type machines. A pool outside with slide was always full after we got back from a day of trails. Location is perfect. You walk to shops and restaurants in about 5 mins or less. Parking was never an issue. read more

We chose it bc we liked the non carpet flooring & free breakfast & were then pleasantly surprised there was a water slide & overall very nice pool area. The arcade was fun but my kids said it needed maintenance. We loved the room's vintage style but there were a few things in need of attention like a broken dead bolt & somewhat dirty shower. Breakfast was great, lots of good options. We will absolutely stay here again next time!! read more

Confession! We rolled up to see a traditional motel redone but we were nervous. That was the last time. My wife and our 5 kids played in the arcade, washed clothes from our hike which was spectacular and 10 min drive to the main arches National park!, slept well in one room! That was the first night. We slept great! Then coffee in and cereal for kids with great waffles, hot sandwiches we could warm that were as good as Dunkin's sandwiches and great options! Pool and slides were awesome! Nothing but raving review...overcoming perception but one of our families favorites! Whoever owns this has my mind running about what could be done in real estate in our home town of Fort Myers Fl! read more

There is something weird about the foundation of this hotel because every time a truck drove by on the road, the entire room would shake. I'm a light sleeper and wasn't able to sleep because the tremors would wake me up every time I was about to fall asleep. I slept probably no more than 2 hours last night. Other than that, the service was really good. We were out of body wash and needed extra blankets, and they brought it up to us within 10min both times. The breakfast had more options than other hotels we've been to. It's a fun place overall and in a convenient location, but not a good option if you want to get good sleep. read more

A fun motel experience! The games room, with arcades and ping pong, was a hit with our sons, and so was the outdoor pool with twisty water slide. Breakfast was substandard - lukewarm instant oatmeal in a pot!? Hard boiled eggs didn't taste right, and the bowl of vanilla flavored fat free yogurt was disappointing. We ended up finding a dog-friendly room at this funky little motel on the main drag. Staff was exceptional even though they had to deal with the COVID stuff and a lot of customers. We checked a few places in town and didn't have a reservation. The Expedition Lodge gave us a great, clean, and fresh room at a fantastic price. There was no extra fee for the pooch which is a nice perk. Don't expect this to be a Hilton or Hyatt. It IS a great value and a neat place to stay. read more

We stayed here for 3 nights in May. We selected it based on price vs. ratings. I'd definitely consider a return visit were I in the area again. The Lodge is located on the main street through Moab. It can be a bit noisy, but almost all the hotels are located here, so it isn't a differentiating factor. The property is a corner lot with a fence around it. The parking lot is out front, and the rooms all open onto the lot. Breakfast was free. They had fresh fruit and some selection of cereals, bread, waffles, etc.; no meat. Our party liked it okay. There is a game room adjacent to the breakfast area that has a multi-game classic arcade machine on free-play (which I didn't utilize as much as I'd expected). There is also a ping-pong table. The Lodge is centrally located such that you can readily walk to most of the downtown business and restaurants, of which there are a lot. The room itself was interestingly decorated. The theme is sort of 50's travel retro. Our room had a small greenish refrigerator with a matching microwave (but from Samsung; I wouldn't have thought Samsung would make appliances in that color currently), a metal table and chairs, and some wall art that fit in. It was cute. No issues with noise, cleanliness, etc. The staff seemed friendly in the few interactions I had with them. read more

Loved this vintage find with modern updates. Thank you for keeping the original art in the rooms! Pillows and beds were heavenly for our tired bodies! The triple queen room was an incredible solution for our family of 5. The lodge is in the heart of Moab, so it's walkable to restaurants and shops, while quiet in our room. Kids loved the water slide! Too bad the hot tub wasn't open. No breakfast during covid. Everything felt very clean, even though the hotel was booked up while we were there. Booked online. When we showed up they had overbooked the hotel and put us at the home wood suites next door.

I really wish I didn't have to give a negative review, but after just being screamed at by the supposed owner Christy, I would leave a zero star review if I could. I really wanted to love this place (very cute retro remodel) but as we were checking out I noticed the woman cleaning and folding laundry without wearing mask (which are currently mandated in UT) , and then saw a gentlemen cleaning a room going in and out of the room without wearing a mask as well. I felt very uncomfortable knowing the linens we slept on, the towels we washed our faces with, as well as the entire room had been breathed all over by the housekeeping staff. After seeing this I went to the front desk (which only one of the 3 staff there had a mask on) and calmly asked if masked were required; I was pretty sure they were but wanted to make sure before letting them know about the housekeepers I saw. The first front desk girl said she didn't know and another woman very quickly stepped in and told me they aren't required (which they very much are) and told me the housekeepers don't go in while you're in the room so they were social distancing. I calmly told her how it made us feel uncomfortable as guests knowing our rooms and linens were cleaned by staff not wearing masks; that's then Christy just blew up at me and said "well don't travel then!" I was shocked she would ever tell a guest not to travel! Seriously?! It's because of those traveling right now you might survive business wise! She then kept raising her voice and started ranting about how she voted for Trump (which is relevant how?) and masks are choice (once again they aren't while they are mandated) and she was yelling so loudly I actually started to record her! Once I did she just walked away and wouldn't talk to me anymore. I went out and told my husband what happened and then decided to go back in and try and get her supervisors information, I asked the first girl I talked to and she said "I'm not at liberty to give you that information." Once again seriously? Yes you are. Christy then came back over and wouldn't tell me her last name and then said she was the owner. If that's the case it's extra insane to treat guests like she was treating me. She then told me to get out and walked away again. Once again I calmly said I couldn't believe she was yelling and screaming at a guest like this and I was sad but I would be writing a review. She then jumped up from her seat and physically came at me and started mocking me! She started making faces and said "oh no, not a review, waa!" I was once again so shocked at how immature and rude she was being to a guest! So after leaving I called and reported them to the health department and finally spoke with them today. They mentioned it wasn't the first complaint, so if you care about cleanliness and sanitary conditions during a pandemic avoid this place, well like the plague! So, so sad she could treat guests this way, not take keeping guests as safe as possible and following laws seriously. I've also heard they own the hotel next door too so I'd beware of there too. Think it's called the Homewood suites, or something close to that. read more

Great location in downtown Moab with very helpful staff. recommendations for dining, nice filling breakfast options (typically of like a holiday inn Express or something- Waffle maker, yogurt, pastries, juice, hard boiled eggs and some cereals. Rooms were clean, pretty well sound insulated from the busy street, but a bit bright at night (no blackout curtains, just Venetian blinds). Pretty gnar. Checked in, and at first glance the room was spotless but as my kids ran around the room, their feet literally turned black, the floors were sooo dirty. And their pool was murky and filled with bugs and dirt from top to bottom. We were told it was windy which is why it was dirty and they had just added chemicals. When we asked to be refunded after only an hour of being checked in for the reasons above I was screamed at, and told I would be paying for the room. And that I didn't know what I was talking about. We had an amazing stay here. My kids loved the pool with water slide and the arcade room. The room was just what we needed. We loved having three queen sized beds and the kids were excited about staying somewhere retro. They are also pet friendly and even gave us complimentary dog biscuits. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We left a growler in the fridge and didn't remember until long after we drove off. When I called the hotel they took the time to search for it and are shipping it to us for free. We will definitely be back! Wish I could give it more stars! read more

We stayed here over MLK weekend, I have delayed my review as I was very upset at check-out from this property and I wanted to be as fair and objective in my review as possible. That being said, based on the photos and reviews, I really wanted to and expected to love this place. The front desk person was so friendly and helpful and I really have to commend him and his professionalism. When we arrived, I had booked a room with 3 queen beds, and did not even think that the hotel would not have an elevator. The only room with 3 queen beds was upstairs. The stairs were steep, open concrete stairs. I had to get our stuff, my two 21-month old sons, and my elderly mother up the stairs. My mom's mobility is not great and she is on oxygen so I had to haul that heavy monster up the stairs too. Because of the pool, the stairs were wet and the area around the stairs on the ground level was slick due to people leaving the pool and the water freezing. All of this made the stairs super scary. Once we got into our room, at first glance it was so cute, and I really love the style they are going for; however, the room and hotel in general can best be described by using the phrase "lipstick on a pig." This is a still an old, rundown hotel, with a cheap cosmetic redo. The tub didn't drain well so we got to our room and someone else's standing bath water was still waiting for us. The pool seemed less than clean and significantly colder than stated on the website and but the person at check out. The bathroom was straight out of the 50s, it seems, green and all, and not in that cool retro way, but in the hey cheap-ass, do something about me kind of way. The toilet didn't flush well, and the water would go from freezing cold to scalding in a matter of seconds. It would cycle like this many time throughout even the shortest of showers. While, I can deal with many of these issues for a few nights, what put the final nail in the coffin for this place was the incredibly unprofessional display by a "manager" at check out. We were loading the car and securing my toddlers for a fun day in the nearby national parks when a dispute occurred. The manager screamed and yelled at the top of her lungs at two employees over towels I believe. She used incredibly inappropriate language including the F-bomb. With children at the phase of parroting, I really did not appreciate this. She saw us packing, saw two car seats and the boys being carried to the car, but this did not change her behavior. There were also several children playing in the nearby pool. Based on this alone, I will not stay here again and I will encourage all those I talk to about Moab and lodging to find another property. read more

Beds: Perfect level of firmnes - comfortable. Extras: 24 hour game room, large breakfast (6am-10am) area as well as nice lounge area in common lobby. Board games were avaiable in lounge area. Breakfast: Standard continental with cereals, waffles (with various topping options), pastries, oatmeal, juices, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, hard boiled eggs. Neat, clean and plentiful. Spacious eating area. Pool: Outdoor only. We didn't utilize the outdoor pool or hot tub as temps were cool and rainy during our visit. Basic info: Hotel is fairly close to and most rooms face ( on main street) road, so you will have definite traffic noise at all hours. Privacy note: Only blinds on the windows - no curtains for more secure privacy or blackout options. Noticed can be viewable through gaps in blinds from outside. read more
