The trail was still stunning though with all the fall foliage which is the reason why we came. None of us are particularly fit but we managed just fine took us just so ver an hour each way. Next time I would bring a picnic. Another thing, check the weather before you go. It was quite warm for late October, we were shedding layers like there was no tomorrow. I wish I had worn a tank top. Also the terrain is not difficult but hiking shoes are definitely the best option, but you'd be fine wearing sneakers.

They supply the yaks, paddles, and life jackets (required). It's a good time. The guides will educated you on the bats, Lake Nickajack, and the history of the area. It's around a 3 mile paddle total at a leisurely pace. The bats. Basically, at bat time, you'll float around near the bat cave until the bats start to sweep out. It's a spectacle. Lots of bats, most of them flying close to the water. Nice. Do it. It's worth it.

Several docks available for wide body vessels at this time. 2nd Full service facility including covered dockage, fuel, pumpout station, ships store, year round deep water, better than most dock and roofing condition, close to the main river yet protected. And last but not least an onsite restaurant Steve's Landing. Open 4 seasons. Their monthly rate was very competitive and affordable for our budget. We plan on settling in to our new slip by months end. We are looking forward to a wonder 2017 boating year. Before you sign up somewhere else you have to check them out. See ya on the water.

There's a Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center that has restroom facilites, a gift shop, and displays to set the scene of the battle. There's limited free parking at the lot behind the center, otherwise you have to pay for street parking. Lookout Mountain Battlefield is actually quite large- about 3,000 acres of land on the summit and slopes of Lookout Mountain. Point Park is much smaller at 16 acres, but it hits all the highlights with dramatic overlooks, monuments, and cannon positions to help understand the Battle of Lookout Mountain. There's plenty of hiking here as well, with trails to Ochs Museum & Observatory and beyond. If you're not a history buff or don't like hiking, there are still amazing views to be enjoyed!

An ultralight plane tows the glider up to altitude (about 5 minutes) then releases you to glide for about 10-12 min (or longer depending on the altitude). Dalton was a great instructor/guide whose love of flying was infectious. He showed me how to pilot the glider and let me take the controls for several minutes. The view from up there is amazing! I worried I'd get motion sick or have issues with the height seeing as there's literally nothing under you. But nope! One minute into the flight and all of that faded away. I would definitely do this again if I visit Chattanooga again. P.S. Be sure to read all of the website and any emails they send you. There's notes about what to wear, how early to arrive (much earlier than your flight time), where to go (one location to sign in and another for the flight; and you drive yourself), plus a no refund policy for poor weather. Also be aware you have to purchase the photo/video package before going up, since they don't attach or use the camera unless you've asked for it (it can't be an afterthought). If you buy it, they download them onto your phone as soon as you've landed; no waiting for them to be posted online days later. Loved that! P.S. If you're lucky, Gypsy (the cutest little dog) will be there to keep you company while you wait for your turn to fly. She was so adorable. From the Training hills with Scott and PLJ, to the Tandems with Rich and Dalton to the awesome people that keep everything running smooth like Brittany, Cheyenne, Mountain Mike and the owner Matt. Just as awesome was the community and love for the sport. I stayed in a cabin and was greeted on my first day by a couple named Bob and Susan who asked if my buddy and I were hungry and wanted to eat with them. I offered to pay and Bob said sure, with friendship only. It felt like the entire park was there some nights sharing flying tips and stories and just having a great time in general. I am coming back to get my solo aerotow and mountain sign offs and know I will be greeted by wonderful people and very saftey focused instructors and staff. I have always loved flying but this place is off the charts. I am already booking my trip back for the end of June and can hardly wait. Thank you all for making it such an enjoyable experience and thank you Kelvin for bringing me back to the sky again!
