My classmates and I had a wonderful time from beginning to the sad end of having to go home. We were a large group of 36 people so we got a good deal for the middle package which was about 1.5 hr ride down the river. The instructors, from my experience and what I heard, were super animated and energetic! They made the experience for us first timers, a breeze and fun. There's a photographer who follows you along the way in which you can purchase all the photos at the end for $45. Given the quality of the photos, I feel as though it's a very fair price especially as we ended up with almost 40 pictures to look through. Overall, I had a perfect first white water rafting experience. There's bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms on site if you want to freshen up for the long car ride home. All the staff members were great especially our guide, Justin!! I would love love to come again and do the longer 6 hour ride in the near future. Highly recommend this company! read more

I went white water rafting here with some friends for a girls trip & had a great time! The team is very professional and friendly. Everything ran smoothly from checking in, to reviewing instructions, and rafting itself. We did a full-day rafting trip today of the upper and middle Ocoee River. We have a scout troop with 28 people on the trip. All the guides were terrific. The guide for our raft was Hannah and we can't say enough good things about her. She was focused on ensuring our raft of six had fun and enjoyed all aspects of rafting on the Ocoee, while keeping us safe. While we did Class IV and III rapids, don't let that scare you. Absolutely the BEST outfitters on the Ocoee! We camped Saturday night on an incredibly spacious primitive campsite. There were lots of campers around us, but no one was close. Bathhouse could use some updates, but it was still fine. The real highlight was the white water rafting. We had so much fun, and Benji, our guide, was a hoot! This is was my first time going whitewater rafting with this company; High Country Adventures. On a beautiful late fall day, we [my friends then with my coworkers] did the three-hour adventure with guide Corey D. then with Gabe. As you arrive at High Country Adventures, I would say that the place is quite easy to find, and the employees were friendly and informative. They made sure we knew what to do in the water before we went in. As we were traveling down the water, both guides warned us before all the crazy rapids. We were well prepared, those that were in the group and have never gone whitewater rafting felt safe. No one came out of our tube! The river has between class 3-5 rapids which seems intimidating but wasn't too frightening. We even got a chance to swim in the river in a calm stretch. When we got back to the building after the trip, our guides directed us to where they sanitized all the paddles, helmets and life jackets. It was organized and well run. All in all, an excellent experience, if you have never done it, try it with these guys! You will have a phenomenal experience. You might get hooked like I was! Amazing! Check in was quick and easy. The instructor in the begining was fun as she gave us insightful directions for our safety. Parking was sufficient. Bathroom stalls were tiny! The bus was crowded, not socially distanced. So bring your mask. Marshall was playing great sing along, energetic tunes. Our guide, WILSON aka Sunshine, was excellent and very patient with us. Rafting requires group coordination and the ability to follow instructions. Let's just say some people have a harder time than others. Wilson was nice, great energy, very personable, knowledgeable, and strong enough to pull the raft and us out of the water. My son and I flipped out of the boat. Wilson didn't sweat it. In a calm, caring voice he instructed the crew how to get us back in and he pull me in with ease. What a great lifesaver! Oh, and guess what, he has pretty good singing vocals :) We had a great time rowing downstream. Pics are expensive especially since they don't print them. Today I had anxiety because it was my first time rafting!! From the moment I stepped onto the property it was welcoming!! From the people in the gift shop to the guides everyone was amazing. I need to send a big shout out to Wilson our guide. Wilson was patient and very helpful with directing us and making sure we were safe. Wilson is an amazing guide and I'm so glad we picked him for this experience. He was very personable and told us so much information about our journey. We came through a wave and loss two of our members but Wilson was fast to act and got them back on the raft safely. Needless to say after being on this journey with Wilson I want to come back and do rafting over and over again. Only bad part was no Social Distance on the bus!! Had the chance to do the level 4 and 5 section of the river and it was a blast!!! If you liked the level 3-4, the 4-5 are not much different with better rapids plus the Olympic section was so cool to watch and go through! Four of us went on the 4th of July, taking advantage of some military discounts they offer. My nephew was a new rafter and Tristan, our guide was patient and encouraging. I am sure all the guides are great but I think we got the best one. Tristan got us through all of the difficult rapids without losing anyone and we did some fancy spinning and surfing to keep things interesting. He told us a lot of the history of the area and interesting stories about the different rapids. I can wholeheartedly recommend this outfit as this is our second time going with them. Sign up tomorrow! We plan on doing the upper and lower trip soon! Just a note: the bathrooms aren't great and the buses and life jackets smell. From the purchasing of tickets to the reservations to the river trip to the end at the store this day trip was awesome. First of all when I called for reservations they were booked the weekend we wanted and it was our son's 12th birthday so I was bummed but booked for the following weekend. Well less than an hour letter the sweet Payton whom I had booked our trip with called me back to report a cancellation and said she thought of me and asked if I wanted that spot. I of course took that time slot and was thankful and impressed she had recalled our discussion and took action to improve our trip. Oh and read the fine print, there is a $4 per person raft fee plainly stated when you purchase your tickets. The drive was beautiful from our home 29 miles north of downtown Atlanta and per our GPS is an hour and a half, less than most of Atlanta's daily work commute. This part of Tennessee is rural and beautiful. We arrived at 7:30 am as instructed, 30 minutes prior to our 8 am reservation. We had received an email confirmation stating this as well. We attended a safety session and basics with the 8 am guests and the guide who led the safety meeting was Gavin. He was funny and great at instructing the entire group. From there our groups were paired off in boats and we set off to receive equipment and board the bus. The bus ride was not too long and we put in near the dam. Right away you hit whitewater action. It was a beautiful day with crisp air, sunny skies and a cool breeze. The water is cold and refreshing. Gavin wound up being our guide and he was professional, helpful, fun, provided information about rocks and names of rapids etc. He was so great. We loved having him lead our boat! He us exactly what you imagine when you envision someone passionate about the river, the outdoors and their job. Back at the outpost we grabbed our keys from the clerk, hit the bathhouse for a change into dry clothes. Then you have fun watching your photos on the screens. The shop has everything from stickers to t-shirts, water shoes, croakies, coffee cups, picture frames, etc. Photos are so great you can't choose just one. Don't forget to tip your guide! Or be like us and put Gavin's name on the envelope and not put hey this $10 bucks is from us lol. This is a great day of adventure and family fun. Ask for Gavin and have fun! read more

I had never been river rafting before and honestly didn't know how rough the water would be. They give you an informative speech prior to getting onto the raft and make you feel perfectly safe once you get there. The main goal of the guide is to make sure that you are enjoying your trip and stay safe. Our guide was Nick and he was fantastic! He was very informative about what was coming up and made sure that we hit all of the Rapids at the right speed and pace that we really got what we had paid for with the rafting trip. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone in the area and is definitely worth the hour Drive outside of Knoxville. This was my 3rd time going whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River. The first two times we went with a different tour group and this time we went with High Country. This rating is based mostly off of the trip experience. Please be aware that the bathrooms at High Country are disgusting and the bus that you will ride to the river is dirty and run down i.e. the reasons this is 4 stars instead of 5. We purchased Groupons but apparently they will honor the Groupon price if you call and book directly with them. They provide you with all you'll need- helmet, PFD, and oar, along with an entertaining intro on what to expect on the river. Our guide was Mr Pink, he was super professional and guided us down the river on a day with very heavy rain that resulted in higher waters and more violent rapids than usual...in other words, an AMAZING RIDE!! This river is gorgeous and even though the sun didn't shine it was a great bonding time with my boyfriend and cousins. I would definitely recommend going with this company and rafting on this beautiful river! read more

HCA is the best rafting company near the Ocoee for rafting! My family and I have been here twice and both time we were beyond impressed with the knowledge and skill level of our guides. The first year, we bought through Groupon and they said if we call them directly, they will give us the Groupon price. I called and they almost charged more, but when I told the woman on the phone how much Groupon was charging, she changed the price to the Groupon price. Our family rafted the Middle Ocoee this weekend. Our tour guide was Angie. She was great . She was very knowledgeable about the river and the rocks . She really seems to like her job . She pointed out past fire damage on the mountain ridge and also did safety watch for the other boats in our group.
