Love to go to Rite Aid for the Thrifty brand ice cream. I enjoy the black cherry and he likes the chocolate brownie with walnuts. I think the nuts should be candied, salted or something. However, they are just raw walnuts. It doesn't taste good to bite into them, in my opinion. However, that is why I prefer the black cherry or strawberry ice cream. My friends raved about the circus animal flavor, but I thought it was overly sweet. Which is a lot from me. Give me sweet any day, just not sickeningly sweet. I love to get the waffle cone, and it comes with 3 scoops of ice cream. Their signature scooper is a cylindrical shape, instead of a ball shaped scoop of ice cream. Kinda cool!! I prefer the waffle cone for the flavor, although it is bigger than regular cones too. The service depends on who serves you. They typically don't have anyone attending to the ice cream station permanently. So, just let them know you would like ice cream (if they are not on a break, they will come right over). Otherwise, it might take 10 minutes or so. The last employee waiting on us gave us a difficult time, not sure why. While in the store, I love to look at seasonal or clearance items. Last time we picked up some Easter baskets and items for 90% off! Wow! What a good deal!! The little fan in the photo was only 69 cents. The baskets filled with candy and toys were a few dollars each (regular price was $29.99). Amazing price! The rest of the store area is fine as far as ambiance. They are a grocery/drug store, so they are stocked with several shelf-stable food items (small refrigerated section too), they have OTC medications, household items, some medical equipment, candy, toys, and seasonal items. I come here for the Thrifty ice cream and to check out the clearance section and sales items. They often have some very good sales. Last time I was here, I purchased some Easter candy for 90% off! You just can't beat that. Service here can be a bit tricky. They are often understaffed. The few staff members they do have on hand are hit or miss as to their personality. Will they be friendly, will they not, it is a toss up. If you have never tried the ice cream here, you should. Thrifty has been serving ice cream for longer than I have been on this planet. Prices now are not what they once were, but the ice cream is still delicious. My favorites are the Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Butter Pecan, Black Cherry, and Chocolate Chip. read more

Best ice cream ev....... Wait the freezer is broken again. Every time I take my kids to get a scoop of ice cream the freezer is either broken or only one side works. It's been about a year now and the workers just say "it's works when it wants to". I went in yesterday because it finally looked like it was open and the ice cream they were serving looked like a milkshake. For some reason the pharmacy is either spot on or absolutely HORRIBLE...it all depends on who's working at the time. There is a pharmacist (Dark skinned woman) that makes my life a living hell, EVERY time I have to pick up a prescription, when she's there. I phone my orders in and give them an extra day or two from when it's ready, just to make sure they have time to fill them, yet I still have to wait (if I'm lucky) or make another trip back. This is so FRUSTRATING!!! What an un-necessarily miserable experience. I'm a caregiver for my mom and try to make things as simple as possible due to the limited time I have to run errands. We've been using this pharmacy since 2015. There is a man that works in the pharmacy (tall, Pacific Islander perhaps) that remembers my mom by name from when I use to bring her in with me. His is PHENOMENAL! But the pharmacist I dealt with again today is an absolute NIGHTMARE...EVERY SINGLE TIME! Please cut her loose and hire someone else. You had an Asian man as the pharmacist a couple of years ago that was AMAZING...please bring him back. BTW...Today I went in for TWO refills and left with ZERO! Now I have to find another way back in because my car isn't running. What a total waste of precious time. If you want hassle-free prescription refills every month DO NOT use the Rite Aid at 1032 Oakdale road in Modesto. They didn't even start refilling my prescriptions until the very last day that I used my last pill. Also, every month at least two of my extremely important breathing medications weren't filled on time, I consistently went without medicines for three or four days every month. I spoke to their pharmacy manager, Gloria about my problems. She asked me to call her three or four days before my prescriptions were due, she would ensure that everything was completed on time. Nothing changed, I was still going without a couple of medicines for three or four days. The final straw happened at the beginning of the year 2022, when a lot of people's insurance was changed to Medi-Cal. I have cervical stenosis which is extremely painful. The pharmacist told me that Medi-Cal needed a pre-authorization for them to dispense my pain medication. After going without pain medication for over a week, and several back and forth phone calls, I learned that the pharmacist misinterpreted what Medi-Cal was saying. They weren't refusing the medication, they needed pre-authorization for dispensing 120 pills because their maximum was 90 pills per month. Been using this location for RX while here. Not good at follow-through when they promise to let you know when drugs are in or after they have to run down additional information. That said, we have been pleased with Rite Aid's employees, all of which have been very helpful, and with their thorough stockage of just about anything anyone would want. A real one-stop-shop. The dr would not fill my prescription and stated that she thinks I'm from out of state . Like how ?! With multiple forms of ID she would not accept any of them . I wish I would have got her name . Staff is great so far I've noticed when I come in, They are very helpful and actually will talk to you if you try to make conversation and if you're a minority don't worry they don't stalk you around here for no reason ! or suspect you are stealing when you aren't they actually make you feel welcome and that's very hard it seems with stores in Modesto! The store is always fully stocked and have so many items and it's always so organized ! If I could leave ZERO stars I would. This pharmacy has no sence in patient care! I was here a few weeks back to pick up pain meds for my mother who had a fall and left the ER with MULTIPLE broken bones in her arm and toe as well. They would not fill it because of a current medicine she is taking. They had to get confirmation from the doctor prescribing it from the hospital she was at. THE HOSPITAL HAS AN UPDATED MEDICATION LIST SINCE SHE IS ON MANY. Why would a doctor prescribe something without looking into medication history? I was here at 2pm waiting almost an hour for other medications that were sent in electronically an hour prior to that! And those weren't even Narcotics for pain! It was a medication for if she accidentally overdoses and she still then didn't even have the pain medicine ready. She didn't get notified until almost 6PM that they were ready!!! Here we are a few weeks later and she just had surgery 6/17 and the SAME PERSCRIPTION is sent in. I didn't pick it up until today 6/18 and they are telling me it's still going to be another half our to 45mins when I'm here after 5pm the day AFTER my mom had surgery for her arm. I am LIVID!!! The workers here don't have any sympathy and the females have an attitude right as you start asking questions!!!! I didn't even give an attitude back until the way they responded. Today I asked to speak with a manager, who was male and I heard him ask if they can make it STAT. He was the only one I appreciated because it took not even 10mins after I had to ask to speak to management! The store itself is great and all but 1 pharmacy employee are good. I called to get an estimate time for my refill she said I later today cause they are giving shots right now then hung up on me. I go here cause they are friendly and nice except this one pharm tech, this location is totally out of my way from home and work. I called and explained that there was a mis communication and they were suppose to have my meds ready today. I said I can't skip this med and I take in the morning. She said it will be done later today and it wasn't even suppose to be filled. The thing is, my dr wrote the rx for 60 pills take 2 a day. They gave me 30 to take 1 a day. When I noticed it they checked the order and apologized that they overlooked it. I was ok with that because they assured me I can get it today. Technically I am but need it in the morning. I dont know the girls name but know who she is. She hung up on me. I told her ok Thank you and she didn't say bye, your welcome, nothing just hung up on me. This one is very close to my house, so I go here the most even though it's not the nicest. The managers and assistant managers are vey nice and helpful, but some of the cashiers are not. Pharmacy is great, and it has a drive-thru around the back (you can't see it from the front). They have great deals with their Up rewards and single check rebate offers. I shop here at least once a week. The only other issue about this Rite Aud is their stock of sale items is not the best, and they don't get shipments in until Fridays (sales start on Sundays), so they don't really restock the sakes items because a new sale will start that Sunday. read more

The only place I can get Thrify Ice Cream. Back from where Im from there is no thrifty ice cream or they try to have some out there but its just isnt the same as it is here in Cali. The Krispy Krunch Malt is delicious and the Butter Pecan is not too bad either. Also had the Coconut Mango which was good too. I never ever come into a Rite Aid unless A) there's something on sale for a ludicrously low price or B) want some of that off-the-chain Thrifty ice cream. It was the latter this time and it was on sale for 2 for $5. Sweet. Stand behind ONE customer for about 3 minutes. Wow, that was slow. I get promptly told that ALL ice creams are on sale except for the one I got: the sugarless one. Funny, there was no note on the freezer denoting a difference. Whatever. I walk all the way back and get an 'on sale' variant and go back to the register. Now there's two women standing there and the cashier darts off inexplicably. Oh, there's apparently some batteries that have an old sign saying they were on sale. And these ladies are not happy as they aren't. So after some hemming and hawing, they buy one pack. Wait - they decide that they don't want the other package. So the cashier has to refund them. 10 minutes later, a customer bailing out the door, and some brain cells that died from being inactive, I finally get to pay for my ice cream. Very piss-poor customer service with only one cashier open and everything taken so obstinately long - especially regarding that I was only the third paying customer in this span of time. read more

Dropped off a prescription at 2pm. Was told I would receive a call when it was ready. Just before 9 pm, still had not heard, so I called to see if it was filled before I drove over there. No one would pick up at the pharmacy, so I tried another option to speak to a person and they said they would check. Put me on hold. After 20 minutes, I drove over myself to check--still on hold. Waited in the store. It had been filled, no one called, but it was not on the shelf ready for pick-up like it should have been. Very worrisome that they did not keep track of this medicine. They looked around for several minutes and finally either found it or just gave me a new bottle. Curious as to how long I would be on hold (they told me in the store that there must be a glitch with their phone system--they explained that "sometimes that happens"), someone finally answered as I was on my way home "Oh, have you been helped yet?" I explained that I had waited so long on hold that I decided to get in my car, drive down, wait in line, wait for them to find it, and was now on my way home. The customer service rep just laughed at the situation. Well, I guess someone thought it was funny...they weren't the one waiting for their prescription all day or waiting on hold for an inexcusable amount of time. read more
