Specialized 2012 Brain & Shock. That's 12yrs old. No chance Specialized would touch it. Probably say buy a new bike. Sent it out on 05/30/2024. And I have it back today 06/13/2024. Exactly 2 weeks. That's fantastic. I was thinking it was going to take a while considering them having to either source or make some of the parts. As a bicycle Industry professional, I highly recommend AVOIDING this company. I placed an order for a Fox 40 Crown and Steer, which showed it was in stock on October 24th. I didn't receive an email order number. I waited until November 3rd to give them a call. Kevin showed said it was out of stock but just got in stock and will go out the next day which is Friday November 4th. I didn't get any emails, so I called again at 3PM on Monday November 7th, he said it was being sent out today. It's now it's Thursday November 10th, I called. They couldn't find my order, after a few minutes on wait, he said he found my order and that they weren't happy with the anodizing, and they they were coming back into tomorrow and they would ship out on Friday. I understand a small business has bumps, and not every business is Amazon quick on shipping. But I absolutely despise being lied to. Just be honest with people and tell them they're out of stock, don't lie to me and tell me they're being shipped out 3 different times, only to find one they weren't even in the warehouse. I finally called and asked for a refund, which they promptly refunded my money. This seems to be this company's issue. Do not give them your money.​ read more

I contacted Risse Racing on July 6, 2022, via telephone, to confirm that specific aircraft parts were available. I was told that they were, and there would be a 4-6 week manufacturing period. I was instructed to order the desired parts via the Risse Racing website, which I did on that date immediately after the phone call. My credit card was charged by Risse Racing that same day. I did not hear from Risse Racing after making my order. On September 6th I contact Risse Racing via telephone. I was told by an employee that identified themselves as Kyle that my order was being manufactured, and I would receive a FedEx shipment tracking number by Friday, September 9th. Having not received any communication from FedEx or Risse Racing, I contacted Risse, again reaching Kyle. I was told that Risse was waiting for missing parts for my order that were due to be received that day. Hearing nothing from Risse, I made subsequent phone calls on October 12th and 13th, speaking with Kevin Risse. Again, I was promised that my order would be shipped by week's end. I received nothing. There are many online complaints of Kevin Risse, via Risse Racing, accepting money from customers and not delivering merchandise. One complaint I read involved a customer getting law enforcement involved. On October 26, I contacted Kevin Risse via email, cancelling my order and requesting a full refund - $805.00. I spoke directly with Kevin Risse via phone that same day. He told me that I would receive a full refund NO LATER THAN Monday, October 31st. I have not received that refund, nor have I heard anything from Kevin Risse. I am in the process of communicating with state and county law enforcement. Will also be contacting the FTC, Pay Pal, eBay (he has a store there) and Apple Pay. read more

Ordered a upper crown for a fox40, paid for shipping that had an estimated delivery date of Thursday. I sent a email to verify shipping etc I get told yeah we will ship out wed and you'll see it by Friday. Thursday rolls around I finally get a notification that it ships out. Friday rolls around no crown, Saturday no crown. Sunday crown finally shows up. Excited to see the crown and was met with nothing but disappointment. Anodizing is horrible and inconsistent. There's sanding scratches that are clearly after anodizing. I'm appalled by the finish on this $150+ upper crown. I've gotten plenty of machined billet parts, this is thee worst part I've ever seen. I can't understand how any self respecting machinist would think this is okay to ship out to a customer. No way I can install this nonsense on my $1800 fox 40. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I feel obligated to warn anyone interested in purchasing a product from Risse Racing. For reference, I am writing this review on 04/14/2021. I ordered a replacement rear shock for my project, a 1998 K2 Proflex 4000 on 02/25/2021. The $408 dollar charge came out of my account on the following day 02/26/2021, however I did not receive any email or order confirmation information from them. I waited a few weeks, and still had not received any information so I decided to give them a call (03/11/2021). Someone picked up, looked up my order and said that "He saw the parts for the shock out on the workbench, and that Kevin who was out on vacation that week, will be finishing it first thing the following week." Well, the next week rolls around, and still no email, no call, no information. I started calling regularly the following two weeks, but no one was picking up the phone. Finally, someone picked up my call on 03/30/2021. I asked the person for some updates regarding my order, and why it was taking so long. The person I spoke with mentioned that they were delayed due to a Covid related incident, and sounded annoyed that I was expecting my order. I don't know what happened with the Covid situation, so I decided to let it go and not press further. He said that the shock was not finished and would take a few more days. I asked him to email this to me, and I finally got some information about my order (order number) with the email he sent. The email said the following: "Hello, your shock is in process and should ship in the next 5 to 7 business days. Thank you and sorry for the long lead time. 03/30/2021 @ 1159" I waited another week and a half before calling back to find out what happened. I spoke to Kevin on 04/12/2021. At this point I mentioned that I was getting frustrated with how they were handling my order. He said that he understood, he was sorry, and that he would be putting the shock together first thing the next morning (04/13/2021) and mailing it out the same day. I asked him to PLEASE call me or email me to verify that it was indeed being put together and sent on 04/13/2021. As you could probably guess, I did not receive a call or email on 04/13/2021. In fact, once I realized I probably would not be getting a call, I decided to call them around 3:30 PST. I called 5 times between 3:30 and 5:00 PST and no one picked up. At this point I am fed up. I called this morning 04/14/2021 and they picked up. I asked to speak to Kevin, but the person I spoke with just told me that Kevin said the part was ready and they'd be mailing it out today. At this point, I don't trust a word coming out of their mouth so I canceled the order and asked for a refund. I did receive an email stating that the $408 would be refunded to my account - but I can not confirm that this has happened yet. It may take a few days. To anyone who's looking at buying a part from Risse Racing: I know they have hard to find parts for older bikes, but PLEASE try all available alternative options before you go with these guys. They will hold on to your money and who knows how long it will take before they get you the part. If you absolutely have to go with them, then I just hope you have a better experience than I did. read more

Risse Racing is currently the best bike suspension outfit right now especially if you need the following: 1. Service rebuild on a rear bike shock, fork or bushings that are no longer supported by it's manufacturer. This place makes many of it's own parts. 2. Custom replacement parts you can't find anywhere else; a rear shock eye to eye length or set up no manufacturer supports. Advice on the custom parts: 1. Buy a digital caliper (it should already be a necessary tool as a mountain biker) for measuring the part you need built/replaced. 2. Take pictures of the parts with the measurements (i.e., bushing inner diameter, width, eye to eye, etc.). 3. Send it in a concise email. If you're using the eBay or store website, it's super easy to use especially if you know what you're looking for. It gets shipped out within the week. Products I have ordered so far: 1. Genesis damper for GT LTS, non trunion (website store purchase). 2. Genesis damper for 98' Univega DS950 (custom order). Overall review of the products: 5/5 because they will shave at least a pound off your bike's weight if you ran a coil over previously. My custom shock was exactly, exactly, exactly to the specs I had sent with the compression firmness I wanted dead on. I am blown away there is zero play in it. They are durable as hell shocks too. Once you break them in, they stiction isn't as noticeable. Does the job and then some when you think you think about what you'd be left with if nobody could work to replace your busted shock. The one thing I do wish though... This company should hire a person for one to two days out of the week to handle all the emails, voicemails and PayPal messages because I promise you that you may need super zen patience as I think the owner and a technician are trying to deal with suspensions, filling all the eBay or website store orders, etc. In full disclosure I did lose my lid about not knowing about the lack of follow up replies to my sent communications and since we're talking a couple hundred bucks, I didn't want to feel ripped off. I think that's really the Achilles's heel of this place is the response of communication. Overall: I really like the products I have received so far as they keep my bikes alive, they actually work and this place is actually the only game in town. I know there's Hippie Tech and Noleen supports it's own but for bike suspension parts, this is really your last resort. As a custom bike builder my work depends on this company's service. I have a SID rebuild I need done, some Rock Shox Super Deluxe rebuilds and a Judy 80 mm air conversion. I have enough to keep this outfit busy for a full year for sure...it just depends if I get a response for the jobs I need in which is why I think they should hire a person solely to handle the messages and stuff. read more

Avoid doing business with this company. They have had my fork for over 6 weeks for a simple rebuild. The last 3 weeks they have ignored my emails and do not answer the phone. I ordered a 140MM coil shock absorber. Kevin promised it in two weeks. Three months later, still no shock. I called sixteen times over that three months, and got nothing but vague promises "Its going out in a couple of days". That's when they would answer the phone at all. My advice: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE IDIOTS. Whatever it is, it's crap, or you won't get it at all! If you think they have something you think can't be found anywhere else, pay for it with a credit card, and note how much time you have to dispute it, or get a refund. Just before that time comes, get the refund, without telling Risse beforehand. Read the reviews of their work and service. They're all crap. There are reasons for that. read more

These folks are absolutely outstanding! I ordered some parts to rebuild an obsolete Fox Shock for a vintage (1990s) Specialized Stump Jumper. The parts arrived quickly exactly as ordered. When I was having trouble with the rebuild I called them for advice. When we couldn't resolve my difficulties in short order over the phone, they said, just send it in and we'll fix it. I sent the shock and the parts to them by USPS priority mail. In less than 7 days I had the perfectly repaired shock back and on the bike - and I live in Boston, 3000 miles away! Amazing. When I called to thank them for their excellent service, all they said was that they were glad to see that I could get out riding again. I've told every bike person I know about them. Kevin and Robert were fantastic. They were able to diagnose, correct and fix an issue in a Fox fork turned down by 3 other shops/operations. All of that and it came in at 1/5 the cost of a similar fork. While not a 1 week turn around, quality takes time. Absolute crap! Here is what I went through thanks to Risse... I brought my bike in to another local bike shop to have my fork and rear shock serviced and rebuilt with new seal kits. They, in turn, sent them to Risse Racing who had them returned to the shop in a day... great service, right? WRONG! I get my bike home and it's obvious that the rear shock is stuck down... highly irritating... I went for a short ride because I just had the shocks serviced and I thought my eyes were deceiving me. Nope. I was hitting rocks all over the place because my cranks were so low due to shock being nearly fully compressed... See, the funny thing is I didn't drop my bike off with a stuck down rear shock... only a leaking air seal. The stanction tubes on my fork looked very oily too and it was pooling a little oil at the bottom of its travel. So I bring my bike back the shop I initially brought it to to have them take a look at it again since things weren't right. They said that they were surprised by the quick turn around and guessed that Risse didn't really do any work on my rear shock... and the fork was suspicious, but I didn't have anything really to complain about at the time with it... i.e. I thought it may just be sloppy work and there was just extra oil on the stanction tubes. Wiped it off, enough said, or so I thought. So anyway, the shop sends my rear shock back to Risse to have it serviced and rectify whatever was (or was not) done to it. A week later I get it back, and I'm convinced all is well when I picked it up at the shop. The shock seems to be holding air and the mechanic and I set it up with the desired pressure. Cool. I take my bike home and I'm stoked to be able to ride again. As I attempt to ride from my car int he drive way to my front door the shock totally collapses and once again it is stuck down. You'd be pissed right! I returned to it the shop AGAIN and they send it back to Risse who holds onto it for about 2 1/2 weeks or so. I finally got it back this last Thursday and all seems to be right but now after a total of 3, yes three rides the fork is obviously showing signs of a blown oil seal. W...T...F! So I take my bike back the shop, peeved that something is again going wrong with my shocks. They take it in. Their mech takes the fork apart and what do you know? The foam rings are full of dirt and there is only about 2/3 of the oil that should be in there... Can you say f-ing ridiculous?!. I paid for SERVICE to two shocks, not one or 1/2 of one or whatever they chose to screw me for. Not only this but they would throw the shop I took my bike to under the bus because why??? I have no clue. This is not the way to treat customers or fellow businesses. Totally unacceptable. Bottom line after all this is, the mech at my bike shop went out and bought a seal kit and did the work that Risse chose not to do. Thanks Risse for keeping me off my bike for about a month due to your incompetence. read more

I was lucky enough to discover Risse Racing over 15 years ago. Through the years I've owned countless shocks and forks hand built in this American grassroots factory. RARE! I'm always impressed with the quality and attention to detail of their custom products. BONUS, super reasonable prices. Again rare!! These guys are experts in all fields of bicycle suspensions. If they can't rebuild and repair whatever you send them, then I think it's pretty obvious and fair to say your stuff is worn out!! (Attention Dave K, the yelper!) Risse racing has revived two of my friend's bikes which were pretty much goners because their shocks were broken and factory replacements weren't available. They both felt the shocks provided by Risse performed better than the junko factory units that came with their bikes. 5 stars to an all american super dedicated bike suspension company!! read more

I have an old Mongoose Aftershock BMX frame which used a shock Risse no longer makes. Not only was Risse able to service this shock, but also provide parts even thou its no longer supported. Within two days, they called after receiving my parts to confirm. Two days later, called to go over the service that was done and also to let me know for free they replaced a bearing and laser etched the shock for me. Needles to say i am very pleased with the customer service and the fact that they still support an old product. Thanks Risse! read more

I have a Fox Vanilla Float shock that I thought I was going to have to replace...it's off my '00 Cannondale Super Silk. My local bike shop here in Lake Mary, FL was quoting me around $500 for a new replacement. I did a bit of research and stumbled upon Risse Racing. They re-built it for $95, including parts, labor and shipping. When I called to check the status, they were on top of it and it came back a day sooner than they had projected. Hi wouldn't use this company if you are outside us,ordered a shock they sent to uk but it wasn't just the shock that arrived eventually there was another shock in the form of a £50 duty charge that they omitted to inform me about before buying ,plus it was rapped only in a plastic bag inside a card envelope that was truly battered the shock has a dent but will not return as will cost me again so just have to lump it,emailed company but not even a sorry so not very impressed!!!! read more

I bought my first rear shock back in 1997 it has been flawless much better than the factory rear shock. I have purchase numerous rear shock over the years all have worked well. After 10+ years my terminator rear shock started leaking and they fixed it within a week for a nominal charge! Great products great service! I have managed bike shops for 20 + years Risse Racing is a true asset to the bicycle industry!! Always my go to for any hard to find rear shock!
