First impression: well setup winery and brewery with a very nice shop. Wine tasting and a separate open facility for beer, music and what I would call pub food. Family and animal very friendly. Bring everyone! Very casual and relaxing with live country music on Saturdays. Music - when we were there- was not too loud. David Touchton was in stage. He was fantastic! If you get a chance to see/hear him sing... you really should. One man band but he is just that good. Now back to the Rising Sun. I particularly enjoyed the watermelon and pear accentuated wines. Very different and fun. Hubby really liked the "Barbarian" red. The food menu includes tacos, pizzas, burgers, and a few sharable dishes like hatch chili skillet enchiladas, wings, charcuterie board etc. It is all self service. Everyone is very nice. read more

This is quickly becoming our place to just have a nice relaxed night out. Kids can go play while we have a glass of amazing wine, or craft beer while listening to live music. We've been back a few times and it just keeps getting better! They've added a kitchen, and a menu that includes a humongous cobb salad. And they've added a brewery called Yegua Creek, which offers glasses a beer, flights and growlers. They have many styles of beer, all brewed with excellence. The staff is always friendly. We always feel appreciated. We've seen a lot of musical acts here. The owner really knows music and is well connected. They have a three day music festival next month that we'll check out. Service was fine but by far the worst wine tasting ever. We tried 6 wines and 1 cocktail and all were undrinkable. A lot of artificial flavors. We couldn't bear to finish anything. I have had far better wine from wine kits. Cute venue just don't drink the wine. read more

Beautiful family run vineyard that is both modern and spacious but also remote and personable. For a harvest-host stay on NYE with a bigger crowd the grass field parking became a bit crowded but we were able to move our Sprinter to a more secure area with flat parking adjacent to the vineyards. Fun tasting crew, a big-event tent and generally a friendly and pleasant vibe to the place. Highly recommended. read more

Beautiful location with a gift shop of local crafts. Winery includes 3 tasting option as well as bottles and glasses of your faves. There is a couple sweet options but if you like bold reds this is the place for you. The new brewery is a couple steps away and has live music on the weekends. On cold days they supply heaters and hot days have fans and large open garage doors. Right now they have 6 beers, all smooth from an amber to a stout. Great time for everyone! read more

The wine was good & I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy white semi tart wine. Very sippable. This is a cute Winery tucked away in the Texas countryside. A friend from California wanted to go to a winery and my brother recommend we come try this place considering we were from Elgin. We ordered a total of 8 bottles (everything they had) and we had a great time. I won't ruin the story about how this place came about but be sure to ask the owner Steve about it to learn about it's history. We found out they also have a small music festival here every year on the first week of March. Overall this place is definitely worth the drive. I recommend coming here to bring a date or even for a group outing such as Mothers Day. Sorry last thing out of the 8 bottles I recommend getting the budburst! read more

This was a wonderful surprise! We had passed the sign before driving down 290 but never turned in. Today we went and were lucky to have gorgeous weather. Most of the seating is outside, either covered on the porch or under the trees at picnic tables. What a beautiful property! The vines look healthy and beautiful. There is also a covered pavilion and live music started while we were there. The woman who hosted our tasting was friendly and helpful. A tasting is three wines for $12. We had to rosé, two white, and two red. They also have a watermelon wine but we did not try that today. Some of the wines are grown on the property, others are from elsewhere in Texas, and some are from California. Although the Texas wines were not the very best I've had, they were quite good and coupled with the pleasant experience this made for a wonderful afternoon. We had a very nice little charcuterie board with a glass each after the tasting. Such a refreshing change from the overpopulated Fredericksburg and Johnson City scene. Rising sun vineyard is EASILY the best kept secret of Bastrop county if not, all of Texas. What a gem. I've been wanting to come here for a while and this winery lives up to its hype. The tasting room staff are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. They grow 7 different varietals of grapes on a little plot right next to the tasting room. The wines aren't bad themselves. The ones we we tasted were great! I loved their sparkling rose. Their cheese plate is as a good size portion and they had a bigger one for groups of four or more. I can't wait to come back here. Rising sun vineyards is fantastic. Don't forget to say 'hi' to the alpacas on your way in and to the friendly winery dog. read more

This is a new little spot that I'm so excited about! I went out for the Autumn Festival and had a BLAST. The wine was pretty dang good. I'm not a fan of sangria but theirs was great! They had alpacas out for everyone to pet and enjoy, an amazing pizza chef, live music and local vendors. So much fun! The vineyard itself is a beautiful place. If you make it out here, definitely make your way up the hill to sit at the picnic tables at sunset. So lovely. I will definitely be returning. read more

4 Star= HOMEY/INFACY (has room to grow & potential to be 5 star) This weekend they had their annual Texas Independence Day Jam Festival. The line up was pretty awesome bluegrass music. Wine Room- They currently offer 2 white wines, 1 Rose Wine, 4 Types of Red Wine. - The Barbera 2015 is very dry and delicious (according to the hubby, friends and strangers I asked for their input). - The small charcuterie platter was a delicious pairing for the wine tasting. - The venue is great for large groups, children have plenty of space to play around. Side Note: First time here. Love Love love the hosts Steve and Sandy, they are both wonderful people. They're just starting this vineyard & wine tasting venture, we were thoroughly impressed with all their accommodations, no expense spared that's for sure. Hospitality was wonderful. We brought our 32' RV they have 30 amp electric hookups. Really nice place to come listen to music and drink wine!! What more can you ask for on a perfect spring weekend. At the start of Spring Break we looked for a 2 to 3 day road trip from home to visit our daughters and their families. Wanting something for everyone, I looked for a winery along our route and found Rising Sun. Since this area isn't known as wine country my expectations weren't too high. But what we found was a very nice and inviting facility with a small but well/furnished tasting room and patio next to a pavilion with live music. Our daughter and friend met us there and we all had various varieties of wine. Everyone was pleased with their choices and the charcuterie was a delicious addition. The layout is family-friendly and large enough to the point that other families' children won't bother you. We're planning another visit in the near future. read more

Found this little gem thanks to a friend. It's somewhat out in the country but that is what makes it so awesome! I loved the open sky, rustic charm and the owner Steve is a sweetheart.
