Went here to celebrate my aunts birthday never been here before was pretty cool! Had some crawfish pretty good, my son played some yard games really laid back environment. My husband and I always drive by so we decided to check it out on our monthly date night. We got a LG bucket of balls and 2 beers each. After we hit the bucket we were going to put our clubs back in the truck and order some food. As we were walking out there was a "door guy" who asked my husband if he had a different shirt. We were BOTH wearing t-shirts that we had cut the sleeves off of and gym shorts. That's just our style we both hate. sleeves and it's hotter than the dickens here! We were told we can't come back in because some people might find my husbands shirt degrading..... Are you serious!!!!????? There was no dresscode sign or even website that says anything about a dress code. All the while there is a lady walking in with no part of her body covered except her private parts What a joke! Have fun selecting your customers based on clothes!! It is a hole in the wall bar with an area to hit golf balls. Not fancy by any means. We have never been turned away from ANY restaurant or bar because we didn't have sleeves on our shirts. We took our business elsewhere, with a 1000% nicer establishment, atmosphere and crowd of people. I will add one positive, the bartender was nice. read more

Driving range SUCKS. About half the balls in the bucket were cracked or worn smooth. If they continue to operate it as a driving range, buy some new golf balls. Jesus Christ. Music may be good but the facility is not comparable to a real driving range or to Top Golf. read more

I liked the place, but 4 extra $8 shots were added to my tab. We were not drunk or incoherent or anything. We were there during the day, for a total of about 3 hours. But how can I argue that when they dont give you an itemized receipt with each thing you ordered on it? It would've been my word against the bartender. So I let it go because I wasn't going to cause a scene, but we won't be going back. Sad thing is, we went for a charity event. I know they could not care less that we won't go back, but thought I'd review to warn people, just keep up with what you order and watch your bill. read more

Good at the food truck was great! service at the bar was awful. Owner came out to "let us know" that where we parked was not acceptable however, there were ZERO signs indicating where to park. He was rude when we asked him what about the car we parked next to. His response was, that's my car and I am the owner... I park where I want to. ok. Put up some parking signs. Love the Back 9 Bar but this review today is for the La Monarca Food Truck located at this establishment (in Bastrop). I must say the food prepared by La Monarca was nothing short of exceptional. They offer a wide range menu. My wife had the fajita steak tacos and I the bbq chicken quesadilla. Both were delicious and full of flavor. It is amazing the quailty of food this gentleman prepares from his food truck. A must stop. Kudos to Back 9 Bar and La Monarca, definitely a great duo! read more

I am so glad to find a nice shaded place that has a dang ol' dang ol' good frozen margarita! The shade made it perfect for a fun July evening. It has really nice staff. The biggest plus is the bathrooms! They are clean and accommodating for the crowd. Prices are great. I can't wait to hit some balls. The band is fun! I hear the food truck is good. I'm just in town working and wanted to watch the game and smoke a cigar with a good drink. Well this place is it! Very laid back casual bar and the drinks are reasonable and good and the bartender Gavin is an cool attentive guy who takes care of you and keeps the drinks coming. Way to screw locals on Labor Day weekend with an insane $15 cover charge (each person) for some band we don't even want to hear. You have an inside area, locals should be able to show ID and drink with no cover. No worries, lots of other bars willing to cater to us on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend. My money might be a drop in the bucket to you, but it'll be a drop in someone else's bucket tonight. read more

Second time here at back 9 and it's unfortunate. The food truck served us raw shrimp but as soon as we brought it to their attention, they apologized and quickly made it right. When I asked a bartender for a bucket of balls she said we couldn't hit any because the cars were at risk because the net is broken. She then told me to speak with the owner who was walking by. So I asked her and she said no for the same reason and that there is "No way possible". Even though people were literally hitting balls at that moment. She said it wouldn't be open again until tomorrow(was around 10pm). Ok? So let's play washers. They have 4 washer pits and only one set of washers out. When I asked for more washers they said they didn't have any. It seems as though no one really cares from the top down. You want this place to be good and it has all the right pieces to be great but the couple of times I've been in the last year, they've fallen way short. SO if you want to sit in the heat and look at all the potential this place has then back 9 is for you. If not, then go to some place with A/C and just as cold beer. read more

This place is horrible! We planned going to this place after our wedding because our venue closed at 10. Well went there and the staff was real rude right out the gate and then refused to serve me because one of the girls in the bridal party was a little too intoxicated and just assumed I was the same way. I've been a bartender for the last 6 years and the way the treated everyone that was there was horrible! Needless to say I will never ever go back to this place again. read more

Relied on Ray the manager to organize a group of 70 for a bachelor party this past Saturday. Followed up on Weds with him and our party arrived promptly at 9 as scheduled. Staff had no idea who we were and made no attempt to accommodate us in the 34 degree night so we had to make impromptu arrangements with the drivers and relocate our funds to a bar that could handle us. Great Texan outdoors bar with really good (free) live music! Worth going to on music nights if you're in the area. Reminds me of a really similar venue in Calabasas, California (where I'm from) called the 'Sagebrush Cantina'. Lots of fun!! read more

This place is awesome. On Easter Sunday afternoon/evening, I was driving home to Austin from the beach with my wife, my 5 year old son, and my 5 month old son, when our car broke down in Bastrop from overheating. While it could have been a nightmare scenario with the baby and being stuck on the side of the road, luckily we realized that this bar/restaurant called Back 9 Bar was right across the street. We gathered up our essentials and car seats and headed over to the deck at Back 9 to wait for a rescue. The place was perfect to suit our needs. Beautiful beer garden atmosphere. Good live music, good drinks, activities with cornhole/Jenga/golf for our preschooler. One of the bartenders even came over to help me unload my car. I couldn't have been more satisfied with the way the folks at this place took care of us and actually turned our rotten evening into a fun time. We plan to stop again every time we drive past.
