Enjoying a morning coffee on the pier before the aquarium
Jen B.

Random google find before the aquarium and it didn't disappoint for coffee. I had the vanilla bean latte with oat milk and it was fabulous! The boys had mochas and my girl had a hot cocoa. We were a little sad at the holiday time there were no pastries or breakfast items but I took that into consideration. Cute old fire station and had a kids movie on the tv! Service was quick and kind!

Area for sugar/cream, lids, stirrers

I'm a coffee shop gal, and I'm a definite sucker for a tiny one, so I was happy to see that Rising star was located on the street level of the hotel I was overnighting in. It's unassuming, and everyone moves really quickly inside, but don't let that deter you! The baristas are happy to assist with the menu, or provide suggestions. I love that it's vegan-ish, and they make sure to ask of your like whole milk, or a substitute. I ordered a matcha latte, which comes unsweetened, but there are several choices if you aren't a fan of the bitter taste of matcha. Those choices were: honey, lemon, & lavender. These are an additional charge (noted on the menu, but no price listed). They also have a variety of vegan baked goods, such as chocolate, vanilla, or blueberry lemon scones, poppyseed bagels, plain bagels, cookies, & brownies. I opted for the blueberry lemon scone, but if I'm being honest, it had zero taste. It was like eating... dried tofu. I wasn't a fan, but I'm sure someone else would like it! They have ample indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a few benches. The small space is expertly used, so you don't feel crowded waiting for your order, and you can study or have private conversations. One thing that threw me off, is they don't put a lid on your drink. I quickly understood why: so that you could customize it at the counter opposite the pickup area, if you'd like to add other sugars, or creams. I spent about 20 mins enjoying my iced matcha and people watching. I cannot wait to return!

Promised Land

This coffee shop has such a warm, welcoming vibe. The baristas are always friendly and they rotate seasonal frequently. There is plenty of seating which makes it great for working or catching up with friends. And the old fire station doors opening in the spring on summer is a huge bonus. I tend to gravitate towards The Promised Land latte when I come and it always hits the spot.

This is a cute coffee shop locates right at the entrance of the beautiful ' Arcade ' shopping mall. They have variety of options for delicious coffee and matcha drinks. I love that they offer the option of extra matcha shot to add to your drinks for a matcha lover like me. Staffs were very nice and friendly and I got my drinks rather quick.

3 tiny two top tables on their inside patio. Small place, no seating in the store front at all. Order by the pasty and line forms to the right of the pastry along the counter. It's the busiest place since it's the only open shop at the arcade. Grabbed a small jasmine and small green tea and an oat milk latte. $7.25.

Guys this place is a hidden gem!!! The coffee is out of this world good. It was bursting with flavor. The cardamom brought out the aroma of the coffee.. the service is good and best of all. It's super tiny place that is full of good vibes. This is my new coffee spot!!

This place was a great spot for a coffee and a treat downtown! The coffee was excellent, I'm not usually a fan of flavored drinks because they taste artificial or too sweet to me but the cardamom bomb latte was phenomenal and my husband got the chai latte which was awesome too! I got a gluten free and vegan blueberry banana bread which was great and my husband got a coffee cake muffin. I was very impressed by the coffee at this place. It doesn't have a ton of seating space but a great stop in spot

Coffee shop is super cute. It's small, hut cute and thr coffee. Just pure deliciousness right amount of coffee to milk. It was a cold day to the warmth was very much welcome. The coffeeshop is also attached to this beautiful building. Which is now a hotel. Pretty cute place to stay if I may say. The staff was sweet and helped me pick my coffee out. They were prompt to make it. They also seem to like what they do a lot. Meaning coffee will for sure taste better.

Iced vanilla bean latte

First time at this Rising Star location. Drink: I ordered the Vanilla Bean iced latte. If it's iced, you'll get it in a 16 oz cup. They don't fill the cup with too much ice, which I appreciate. Not super sweet but I can tell that the flavor is in there. Price point is around what I have paid at other coffee shops. I would get it again. Aesthetics: I love earthy toned decor with some plants and windows. If millennial pink was the color of the 2010s, I feel like coffee shops having green plants is the post-Covid cafe aesthetic. If you are a recovering millennial hipster, you might like this place. It is the kind of place where a manbun could unironically thrive. Environment: some coffee shops are set up for folks to work, and some are set up for folks to sit and chat or to stop by for the caffeine. This is definitely a sit and chat neighborhood spot coffee shop. If you do come here to work, the round tables are not near any electric outlets so come fully charged. I personally don't like sitting on a stool to do work, but if that's okay with you, there are two side tables with metal stools for seats. The chairs at the table may have a size limit, so be aware of that if you or someone in your group might desire more room in a chair. There is also outside seating too. (Note: I write and read in coffee shops, so this is the context for my review.)

Lavender Latte
Gem P.

I had a lavender latte today and it was so delicious. I've been craving one since I moved to Ohio from California and this place did not disappoint. I wish there was a location closer to me.

Rising Star Coffee Roasters should be called Shining Star Coffee Roasters because they're already amazing, and everyone who walks in immediately knows it. This is my kind of coffee shop in Downtown Cleveland. I've tried their cappuccino, pour over coffee, non dairy almond milk mocha, everything bagel w/ vegan cream cheese, and their croissant. Everything was outstanding, and the baristas really know what they're doing. How can you not have a good morning when the baristas are jamming out to September and making a hot cup of joe? We were only visiting Cleveland from Houston, TX for a family wedding, but if we lived here, I'd be sure to become a regular here. Cheers!

I had never had Yemeni coffee before so I asked the barista for suggestions. Based on the fact that I wanted to also try one of their beautiful milk cakes (like a tres leches), I opted for the Mufawar coffee since he said it was less sweet and a bestseller. It was served on an adorable bamboo tray, piping hot and very strong! It had a unique flavor and paired well with my saffron milk cake. Yes...I said saffron. I was very hesitant to try this after he described saffron to me, so I actually got both saffron and biscoff milk cakes. Wow, this man knew his stuff! The saffron milk cake was absolutely scrumptious!!! And who doesn't love a biscoff cookie?! I had to take that one to go. I hope to return to Cleveland soon so I can try the pistachio latte (a sweeter coffee) and possibly a different flavor of milk cake. The coffee shop was quite large, bright, and tastefully decorated with lots of gold accents. I loved my experience there!

It was very nice to have personal interaction. I had seen on social media the S'mores Latte many times and wanted to try it. I was exited that it was able to be made dairy free so I ordered it with almond milk. I also ordered a dessert while I was there. The Kataifi topping had me sold. Both were very delicious. The latte was not strong like some other places would make it. There was a perfect portion of all the flavors; not too milky or overpowering with coffee. The dessert was very light and creamy. The topping also had honey which added to the deliciousness. I enjoy everything in-house while enjoying the atmosphere. It was very clean and relaxing. This is a great place to catch up with family or friends or enjoy some time alone. While I was there I downloaded the app on my phone that not only gives rewards but allowed you to order in advance.

The decor in the cafe is very nice. The chairs were comfortable. We also saw the staff spraying air freshener on the artificial flowers. They pay attention to details.

Eagle Kafe is an authentic Albanian experience in the charming part of Cleveland. While there are…read morequite a few Balkan establishments in the city, none are quite like this cafe. It's the only Albanian cafe in Ohio. I visited after hearing about this cafe from friends. Shortly thereafter it really trended on Instagram. AMBIANCE: The cafe is simple and spacious. There are two dining rooms that can serve various customers - high tables for solo guests, tables for two or large parties. Many guests prefer the patio. The location is on a picturesque street with a lot of trees and nature. It's a relaxing experience. In many ways it's just an average cafe - large windows, exposed brick walls, and coffee aroma. I other ways, it's incredibly authentic. Guests watch Albanian soccer or linger on the patio. The combination of soccer and cafe feels very cool and very Balkan. At the heart of the place is a wall with hand carved Albanian art and well recognized Albanian eagle. It's interesting to gaze at these fragments of culture and appreciate the artistry. FOOD: I was surprised by the very budget-friendly bill. I purchased Turkish coffee and two bureks totaling about $12. I did not feel as though Turkish coffee was very authentic - too many grounds, and too acidic. It also did not have the usual awakening effect that I was going for. Bureks are traditional Balkan pastries with cheese and spinach. I selected two varieties and liked them. They were gold, savory, and just right for a light lunch. It was explained to me that bureks are very popular in Albania. The rest of the menu featured various coffees, wine, and small sweet bites. SERVICE: You can start your experience at this cafe by ordering at the counter, sitting down, and paying at the end. The service was great for a casual cafe. The cafe employee was attentive to my needs, checked on small things like my sugar needs. It was evident that most guests are regulars reconnecting with their culture. I enjoyed the bureks, the hospitality, and the location. I had a lovely little lunch at the cafe. I'd probably stop at some point during the summer to enjoy the patio and other coffee selections.
