Cool local cafe. They have a limited food menu with many menu items sourced from the West Side Market. It did seem like they were out of quite a few things when I was there but I got a ginger tea and chicken salad sandwich. Both were fine, not super remarkable. My total was $10.50. The entire is cozy with lots of wood. They have plenty of tables and chairs for working and the wifi worked well. Service was nice and friendly. I came in on a cold winter day and was surprised that they had an overhead fan on and the door didn't fully shut. It's a pretty old building, so it was a little drafty inside. read more

What a fun little coffee shop on a pedestrian street by the Westside Market. We were visiting Cleveland, found this spot via Yelp, and had 2 great iced coffees. We loved finding this coffee shop and cafe within Cleveland's Ohio City. I ordered an iced latte with raspberry syrup and it was delicious. My husband and son left with Arnold Palmer but the lemon juice was really tart for them. The space has plenty of seating, all broken in and casual. It's a good spot for working, reading or catching up with friends. Patio space is available. Parking meters offered short periods of free parking. A public parking lot was nearby as well. FOOD -- This is a local cafe that sells typical items such as breakfast sandwiches, deli lunch sandwiches, pastries, and drinks (tea, coffee, smoothies, and bottles juices). I noticed that all the breakfast sandwiches were about under $6. When I visit small cafes or coffee shops, I typically don't order food. I will usually get tea with a cookie or muffin. Here, there are alot of baked goods to satisfy your sweet tooth. The owner told me that a local company bakes of all their pastries which is nice. Two people that walked into the cafe at 5pm bought a cinnamon roll and they told me that it tasted delicious. SERVICE -- I visited on a Sunday, late afternoon. I actually came in just to charge my phone battery but I did buy a small Tropicana apple juice for $1.50...haha. I had to write a review anyway because I chatted with the owner who was very nice. He allowed me to sit and charge my phone before I even bought anything. INSIDE - - is small but there is seating outside too. They have simple furniture. The tabes and chairs look comfortable but they are made of wood. The seats have cushioning so that helps. LOCATION -- The cafe is located along the busy main street of West 25th St. but the actual location is on a little cobblestone street called Market Ave. I love this neighbourhood of Cleveland (Ohio City) because it reminds me alot of my former home of Chicago. PATIO -- I LOVE their outside seating area. There is a small but cute patio with tables and chairs (tables also have an umbrella to block out the sun). Right now (summer 2019) is the perfect spot to pull out a newspaper or a good book to read. Or, get out your iPad or cell phone to browse the news. The patio is also perfect to hang out with a hot date or re-connect with a friend. STUDY/WORK -- Due to the thriving location where this cafe is located (Ohio City), they may get busy but when I arrived around 4:45pm on a Sunday, there was only 3 people inside. They do close at 6pm on Sundays so maybe that's why it wasn't as busy. This may or may not be a quiet spot for you to work on your laptop and/or study. If you want to come here then I suggest arriving on a Sunday early morning or late afternoon. I'll be back to try a pastry item. This is a simple and basic cafe but you will feel right at home here. If Edda is the Tory coffee shop of Ohio City, Koffie is the Labour one. The prices are straight out of 2009, meaning it's a place nearly anyone can afford. Cookies for $1, an Arnold Palmer for $2, teas I think are $2.50, and the breakfast croissants are around $4.50 depending on what you get, but are at least in the same ballpark as Edda's sandwiches which cost twice as much. The atmosphere is somewhat between cozy and cramped inside. Slightly wobbly furniture, old cushions on the benches, just enough space for a line to form if there's a rush of customers without imposing much on the nearest table. This can be good or bad; it's often easy to strike up a conversation with a regular, but in the fairly small space it's hard to find that zone of focus that I've found in my favorite coffee shops and libraries. Aside from the inexplicable good breakfast croissants and the satisfying peach smoothie, quality is about average, but with the low prices it's hard to complain. The only thing I've had which was disappointing was the Bavarian ham lunch sandwich, which was less filling but more expensive than the breakfast croissant. You can get the breakfast croissants all day though, so once more it's hard to complain. Service is also average, and what it all adds up to is a place where I'm likely to feel that I got a fair deal, but where their offerings aren't so delectable that I'm likely to choose it as my top spot for tea for the day, unless I'm craving one of those breakfast croissants. The other slight downside is that even by the standards of Cleveland, a city where coffee shops close early, Koffie closes fairly early, at 5. I understand why, it's a low-employee company and they'd have to hire more people to extend the hours, but it's really hard for me to give a coffee shop that I can't stop at after work a 5-star rating. read more

I love the atmosphere at Koffie. If you want local and quaint, you've found your place. I've been both for an event as well as to grab some breakfast and coffee before work. The breakfast croissant is so buttery and delicious, it's hard to not want it all the time. The coffee was pretty good; I appreciate that they have lots of syrup options. The perfect spot for remote workers or students. Parking info at bottom. Reasonable prices, and huge seating area. In addition to the cozy front dining area, there is a huge back room used for diners, studiers, etc. Even have some board games and a piano back there! Other than the space, the best thing I found out was that all the food and drinks are locally sourced, mainly from vendors at the West Side Market, but other local places too, mainly in the Ohio City area. Only con- if you are driving in, there is a nearby parking lot, but you have to pay. If you don't believe in paying for parking (like me), just park in a neighborhood. Great little coffee shop! The cafe is on the smaller side, but this contributes to the warm and inviting vibe that engulfs you once you walk in. There is nice jazz music in the background and decent seating options considering the size of the cafe. We got the turtle latte and marshmallow latte and were happily impressed with the flavor. I will say that they go pretty heavy on flavoring and I found my drink to be on the sweeter side, but my partner who always thinks drinks don't have enough flavor loved this! There is only one person working but considering the slower trickle of regulars and customers, it's definitely not necessary for any more workers. I vaguely remember stopping here once in the past but it didn't make a lasting impression. So I figured why not continue my romp through the cafes in Greater Cleveland and the like by coming here to do some work. The cafe itself is adorable. It's cozy with a wood and brick interior. While I was attempting to do some work there on a Friday afternoon, there were a lot of people coming in so it seems like a decently popular spot. A problem with this cafe is, because it's small, the noise level of it gets loud - between the music, the people talking at their seats, the people placing orders and the the bar itself there's no lull. It seems like a nice place to come here to chat with friends but not necessarily do any work unless you're good at ignoring your surroundings. I asked about their specials and decided on getting the 16 oz (their medium size) of the Turle Latte. It's a mixture of chocolate, hazelnut and caramel mixed together with espresso and steamed milk. It's definitely sweet so if you like your coffee more bitter, this isn't the drink for you. But for $4, not bad. If the drink interests you I'd come here fairly soon, I'm pretty sure it's seasonal. They seem to have a lot of food options, including paninis which is nice if you want to come here for lunch. I'd assume it gets pretty busy so you'll probably have to take it to go because the seating will fill up fast so keep that in mind. There is a small area outside but with the cold finally settling in you're not going to want to sit there. Overall, love the interior but the coffee drink offering isn't anything fantastic or unique and the noise level makes this a place to visit once in a while if I'm in the area but not a place to do somework. read more

My first time visiting Koffie Cafe during a recent trip to Cleveland. It's located across the street from the West Side Market. I ordered their version of a cold brew coffee - with room for cream. As I had missed breakfast - I also ordered a breakfast sandwich - bacon, eggs, and cheese - served on a warmed croissant roll. The cold brew coffee was strong and delicious. The breakfast sandwich - by itself would be 3 stars at most. The problem was the bacon was underdone and chewy. The bacon needed to be cooked a little longer - I had some portions of the bacon strips that undercooked. I was already in the car and headed to the Airport - so I did not have time to go back and request they address this shortcoming. The sandwich also needed more cheese. The egg portion of the sandwich was fine. It's a small place inside - so not a lot of interior seating - there is some outdoor seating. They did do a great job making you feel safe with covid circumstances and like I said, staff was friendly, I'd just suggest some air fresheners. I tried the Cinnamon Latte with Oat milk and it had the perfect amount of sweetness without being too overpowering yet still allowing the flavor of the espresso to come through. Went here for the first time today. I just wanted a sandwich for a late lunch. The barista suggested I get bakery instead of a sandwich because it will take too long. That annoyed me. If it's on the menu and I'm a paying customer there should be no problem making me a sandwich. Anyways I opted for a pumpkin scone and a chai latte. The pumpkin scone was pretty decent however the latte tasted a bit on the sour side. I would have liked more spices in it. The ambiance and setup of the place is cute and has those coffee shop vibes everyone wants. Good for socializing and good for productivity. OK, are you serious? Can you really get a super-fresh, awesome salad here for $5? You're telling me you get fresh baby spinach, greens, walnuts, dried cranberries and feta? And I can control what's going on as dressing with their trusty balsamic vingar and olive oil containers?
