Happy Holidays! This place set the jolly mood to my family for Christmas breakfast today. I made reservations two weeks ago over the phone just to make sure that they will be open on Christmas Day and that we will get a table without the wait. It was our first time at this place and I'm glad we tried it. I wanted to try something else besides the breakfast places in Glenview. The interior is nice, clean, the big fire pit is a great addition to the holiday mood in the restaurant, service is awesome and their food was phenomenal! Here is a breakdown of what we've tried today: BANANA BREAD FRENCH TOAST- perfect! I love making and eating banana breads and I totally approve of how they make theirs. GRAND SLAM- delicious pancakes and thick bacon... What more could you ask for?! BANANA AND STRAWBERRY HAZELNUT CREPE- You got me at hazelnut :) As usual, I did not stand a chance of taking a picture of this as my son did not waste time devouring this as soon as the plate was set in front of him. CHICKEN PESTO PANINI- Thick chicken breasts with delicious pesto dressing. Great panini! The fries that came with te panini were thick and crunchy:) JR BENEDICT - The eggs were on top of roasted red peppers and huge mushrooms. Great combination of flavors:) Overall, we will definitely go back to try other menu items. Why four stars? When we were almost done with our meal, there was something going on with the owners and a customer who was asked to give up her table for other customers who are ready to be seated and to order. A few minutes later, we could hear and see(they were at the table next to ours) the male owner chatting with customers(they probably know each other) regarding the customer who was just asked to move, and not in a nice way. Personally, I think that as the owners/employees of a service oriented establishment, it is inappropriate to talk to customers about other customers, specially when other people around can hear your conversation. Food was delicious. Everyone was super friendly! No lactose-free milk options, though.

It's mostly the memories I guess. This place makes me feel warm and comfortable. A big fireplace throws off the heat in the winter. The food is excellent and the service very good. The coffee is average. I think I like the slightly more smokey coffee and that might not be the universal taste. Maybe a choice of coffee type would bring an interesting element. read more

This place is wonderful! They have a relaxing atmosphere with a cozy fire place. I had the rise n dine skillet, and it was amazing! All the ingredients mixed well in the skillet and the steak was tender and juicy. I also had pancakes for the side dish, and they also tasted very good. They have a lot of different items to choose from their menu. Skillets, scrambles, omelettes (which most of the guests order, and looks very tasty), Benedicts, pancakes. This place has an adorable family owned atmosphere, with lots of loyal customers. The portions are very generous also, with a choice of pancakes or toast along with almost every menu option. I ordered the spring omelet, which had crab meat in it, so I thought it'd be an interesting choice. However, it turned out to be very bland, and the crab made the rest of the omelet taste weird. I was pretty disappointed with my meal choice, as everyone else's meals looked much better. I had to fill myself up on the pancakes, which were pretty standard. Service was fine though and the owners apparently are always there saying hi to everyone. I just wish I picked something better! read more

I ordered a Rise n Dine Skillet which has skirt steak, potatoes, mushrooms & green peppers with eggs on top. What I got was a skillet with scrambled eggs on top, half done potatoes and maybe couple of kibble size pieces of some type of steak certainly not skirt steak pieces like before. It certainly wasn't worth $13.95. The potatoe pieces were bigger than the bits of meat. Very Disappointing. the server was great. I will be going elsewhere. read more

On my way back from an appointment stumbled across this place. Popped in for some breakfast ordered Spanish omelette with no sides. Very tasty very large made to my expectations and then some. Love places that leave the coffee pot on the table. The manager hostess and server all had smiles on their faces and all were very friendly. Always busy and for good reason. The owners are friendly, the service is good, the food is great, the prices fair. Reasonable parking lot, enough spaces to accommodate. The seating is plentiful so though it's always crowded I don't believe I've ever waited long to be seated. Food comes out quickly, tables are bussed quickly, but I'm never feeling rushed.fireplace is nice. Updating my review: Frankly, that was a knee jerk response saying, "the owners are friendly" because that is what I have come to expect here. However, I actually had recognized that something was off... not nearly as friendly. Now on my 1st visit after my last review I see that ownership has changed. Still good food and good quick service. Plentiful portions @ rightish prices. Just missing the previous owners gregarious and delightful friendliness. read more

The omelette tasted like it was made from Hampton Inn quality egg beaters. The service was fine as was the ambiance. That said, I would never go back for brunch here. My homemade omelettes have more flavor and I don't season them with anything. My wife said the shakshuka tasted like it was made with canned tomato sauce. Only one hot black coffee option available and was good flavor but no lattes or cappuccino's available if that drives you're decision where to eat. Cost we very fair. Had my hopes up based on previous reviews. Place looked pretty run down from the outside, but surprisingly cosy inside with a big open fireplace in the middle of the space. Service was fast. Sadly the only part of my meal I really enjoyed was the freshly squeezed juice. The rest was very mediocre. Story of my daughter's meal - Florentine Benedict - poached eggs were prepared well, Hallandale sauce had a very overwhelming, almost mayo like taste. Hash browns were pretty undercooked. My dish - Mediterranean omelet - very fluffy, came with tomatoes, onions and feta... had potential, sadly rubbery feta did not make me happy. Had a choice of fresh fruit, which came as three little grapes, two quarter size pieces of honeydew ( inedible as they were the very end hard pieces) , one ( same size) piece of melon and one tiny triangle of pineapple, which according to my kid were not bad. Doesn't look like much on the inside, the Devore is very dated. However they do a lot to make up for the ambiance. The service was outstanding!! Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive. I had the veggie skillet which seasoned so well and had the fluffy pancakes. My husband has the skillet w the turtle pancakes and they were amazing! They give you coffee carafe so you can drink as much as you want .. and yes they do have flavored creams. Don't forget to check in on Yelp because you will receive a complimentary delicious cinnamon roll. If you are looking for a quick delicious breakfast I would recommend it. This place was pretty good. We were seated immediately and water was brought to our table. Our server then appeared and took our drink orders. I inquired as to whether or not they had fresh-brewed iced tea. She stated that not only did they have it, but that they had a choice between black tea and raspberry tea. That was pretty cool. I, of course, chose the black. My husband got fresh-squeezed OJ. He was a happy boy! I ordered the red, white, and blue crepes. They are topped with strawberries, apples, and blueberries. When I inquired as to whether or not they were filled with cream cheese, I was told that was an upcharge. I chose to get it as I have never had unfilled crepes before. Maybe I am just sheltered. When the food arrived to the table, it was fresh and hot. My dish came with hot syrup. I think it's crazy to put syrup on something that is already so sweet, but I have a feeling I'm in the minority. It was good. Not the best thing I've ever had, but it was tasty. Our service wasn't that great. I don't know if she was stretched too thin or what. They weren't extremely busy, yet we didn't see her until the end our meals. That is when she finally offered me a drink refill (my drink had been empty for some time). Once you navigate beyond their overcrowded, and tightly packed, tinsy-winsy parking lot, you'll find that Rise N Dine, has quite a bit to offer. We generally visit before the weekend rush, early as possible (without setting a pesky alarm) which lands us there between 8-9am. We arrive and are seated immediately. If you've read any of my previous reviews, you'll know that I'm ALWAYS starving, and therefore, waiting to be seated to eat could spell catastrophe. Me-hungry-Hulk-smash, style. Rise N Dine has a cozy interior, with warm colors and a large selection of breakfast noms. We've tried quite a few dishes, (normally, the two of us get three breakfasts and enjoy 1/2 of each dish, it's like a breakfast merry-go-round) They have unique skillets, (Cheeseburger skillet, Gypsy, Chorizo, Gyro) they've perfected the Eggs Benedict (my fave) and are always accommodating of substitutions. We've been seated with various servers and never had a bad experience. While I can't recall any of their names (I'm a terrible human-being sometimes) I do know we've never had to ask for a refill of coffee, or water, and have always been asked if we wanted any additional condiments (the husband loves ketchup on his eggs and hasbrowns) before we even think to pose the question. We've never experienced a long wait for our food either, nor have we had any mistakes even when we've made odd requests or substitutions. (I asked for double the cheeseburger on the Cheeseburger Skillet and there's no such thing as enough whipped cream on a waffle) That says a lot for a bustling breakfast joint. Delicious, efficient, and reasonably priced for satiating portions- everyone's a winner. We're currently working toward earning the regular badge, not just via Yelp, but more-so like that old sitcom Cheers. They don't need to know us by name, but we'll take "regulars" by reputation. Rise N Dine is our staple breakfast joint, in our new 'hood. Come early, come hungry, and pack yourself into a compact vehicle (so you won't have an issue parking). Went this morning, got seated, waited 10 minutes or more to have a waitress stop over. All four waitresses walked by our table, sometimes with a coffe pot on hand, no one ever served us coffee or asked if we had been waited on, meanwhile they were busy chatting amongst themselves while we sat there unattended. When our food came, my toast was burnt black and our potato chunks were hard, not cooked enough. Not going back anytime soon. read more

My colleague and I were looking for good eats halfway between Glencoe & Schaumburg and Rise N Dine fit the bill. It turns out we weren't the only people looking for a tasty bfast on this Friday morning because Rise N Dine was packed, but regardless we got seated right away. Based on the Yelp reviews it appears if it had been the weekend we'd be waiting for awhile. I had been sick all week and hadn't eaten much besides chicken noodle soup so anything would be tasted uh-mazing, but the healthy french toast was really good. And apparently healthy! Or at least healthier than regular french toast. The restaurant itself is very cute & cozy! Not sure I'd make the 20-25 minute drive on a regular basis (especially if there's going to be a long wait on weekends), but I'd definitely come back when in the area. read more

I used to be a regular here five years ago or so. After a bad meal that sickened me, I stopped coming here. But my dad INSISTED we eat breakfast here, and being the obedient son, I hesitantly agreed. Now I have a reason to tease him about his choice in restaurants, and he agrees with me. The food is, and this is being a tad generous, mediocre. My dad was disappointed with his scrambled eggs, overcooked and served cold. My omelette, while hot, was rather bland and nothing to write home about, but worth writing to Yelp about. The place USED to be good, prior to my earlier aforementioned incident. It still manages to draw a crowd. Service was fine. But I have crossed it off my list of places to eat.
