This place perfectly encapsulates how a notch above mediocrity is absolutely thrilling to the suburban Connecticut person. Look, it is a cute shop. They spent the money and they have a nice espresso machine. Which of course is ultimately the only thing that matters to me - the coffee. But let's talk about the donuts. Because this is a donut shop. They are large. Like Americans. They are not particularly inspiring. They are cake-like - with the exception of the apple fritter one which was a gooey greasy mess. None of them are really donuts. I got four of them to go. I took a bite of each and that was more than enough. Even my high school aged son passed them over after a few bites. Now for the surprise, and the reason that this is not a more scathing review. The coffee was surprisingly okay. I ordered a Cortado. Of course it was served in the only sized cup they have so it wasn't properly presented, but it was reasonably good and I drank the whole thing. So, doughnut shop: coffee - good, donuts - meh. Add to this the inexplicable hyper-popularity that causes there to be a line around the block and I would say overall - not worth the time unless you catch it at an hour when there's no wait. read more

I don't even like sweets... and I'm OBSESSED. Rise Doughnuts is next level--easily the best donuts I've ever had in my life. The French toast donut? Unreal. It literally melts in your mouth--light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. My boys couldn't get enough! The maple latte was just as good--rich, smooth, and delicious. And somehow the avocado toast was just as impressive--fresh, flavorful, and the perfect savory balance. Everything here tastes insanely high-quality and made with intention. You can tell the difference immediately. I'm ruined now--no other donut will compare. read more

Keeping this review short and sweet because the donuts speak for themselves. One of the BEST donuts I've ever had, and I am a self proclaimed (and community proclaimed) donut fanatic. The donuts are so good here! They're served warm, and the apple fritter donut is incredible. The line gets long pretty quickly on weekends, so get there early before things sell out. RUN, don't walk, to try a donut from here!! They have seating inside and outside as well, so you can enjoy the donut on the spot if you want. read more

One-hundred-percent as good as people say it is - fluffy, fresh, warm, nonstop delicious doughnuts that are the best around in CT and Westchester and likely NYC. Love the chocolate buttercream the most with chocolate crumble on top, delicious vanilla bean too, but really every doughnut is top-notch and creative, and their daily new menu of flavors makes this spot irresistible. 5 stars!!!! read more

Part of me didn't want to write a review about how absolutely fantastic this place is because I want to continue to be able to show up at 11am in a Sunday and still have my pick of the litter on doughnuts lol On the real though, these doughnuts are ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! 10/10 no notes. There is no competition in CT on doughnuts because these took the cake. We absolutely loved the jelly filled and cinnamon crumble (can't remember the exact name). They were lighter than air and taste like they use the highest quality ingredients. The 2 of us almost crushed all 5 doughnuts alone and I have 0 regrets! Already planning my next trip! read more

My absolute favorite donut place of all time! Just look at the glaze on this Raspberry donut! Their flavors change daily so follow them on Instagram as well to see the flavors of the day. Came here at recommendation of a friend. This place has "artisan" donuts with a variety of flavors that change daily. You can see them making the donuts through the window. Limited indoor and outdoor seating makes for a nice little treat. Today's Peach Fritter was very good and worth a trip just for it.....it's not as heavy, fried flavor/texture as other fritters and the peach flavor is definitely awesome. read more

This place is always busy so make sure you go there early before they run out of doughnuts! Their doughnuts are really good, the portion is big enough to share and it's a good way to have a treat! :) they usually have different flavors depending on the week, but you can always check their instagram account before going to see what options they have available. They have a few indoor and outdoor seatings as well! read more

I can't tell you enough about how much I enjoy these donuts. As someone who doesn't even crave them to begin with, I look forward to these. Light, fluffy, super fresh, and absolutely delicious. I enjoy that there are only 6 flavors/options to choose from - their fritters being one of my absolute favorites. They are truly just perfect delectable fried bits of goodness that can make even the pickiest of people happy. The lines get long as this is a big local favorite. I would go earlier in the morning to avoid the crowd. However, they move the line fairly quickly. Front of the building has very limited parking, so I would go to the side parking lot to make it easier. Also on certain days, they partner with an adorable flower truck that has gorgeous bouquets for sale right outside their door. Need to win over someone? Buy some flowers, donuts, and a coffee and you're set. Guaranteed to get out of any doghouse you may have been in. read more

I'm from the west coast visiting my sister in Westport for Thanksgiving... I saw Blake Lively's posts raving about these doughnuts which looked so good that I had to try them. The atmosphere felt like you were in Martha Stewart's Sous Chef kitchen.. very cute and well decorated. You can see the pastry maestros in the back cooking and dipping hard at work. First impressions: The doughnuts look so amazing on the display window. They were still warm!! The texture of the doughnuts are quite dense and tastes like a dessert instead of a light fluffy doughnut. They weren't super sweet which was a good surprise. They remind me of Randy's Doughnuts from Los Angeles (you can now also fine these at Resorts World in Las Vegas). Rating based on today's flavors: Misfit - 4/5 Brown sugar - 4/5 Pumpkin Latte (I didn't try it but my sis said 4/5) Chocolate buttercream 3/5 Tiramisu 2/5 Worth trying if you like a less sweet, denser, chewy doughnut. read more

This is place is the bomb!!! Greatest addition to Wilton in years! Great food, better staff!

If you're a fan of fresh, delicious donuts, Rise Donuts in Wilton, CT, is a must-visit! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly fried donuts that are always fresh. The donuts themselves are simply outstanding, honestly some of the best I've ever had. The variety is incredible, with everything from classic glazed and cinnamon sugar to more unique options like coconut or a delicious apple fritter. The texture is perfect--crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. You can tell the ingredients are top-notch, and the flavors are rich without being overwhelming. I absolutely loved the Aztec cinnamon donut; the combination of sweet glaze and cinnamon bits is incredible. But the real standout is the apple fritter. It is truly the perfect balance of fresh and sweet. I never order apple fritters but I would get this as often as I possibly could if it were any closer to me. The store was so quaint and cute! Everything felt extremely clean and welcoming. The store had a nice big table where you could sit and enjoy some coffe with the delicious donuts and just sit amongst the amazing store. The staff is also extremely friendly and efficient, making the experience even better. Whether you're grabbing a quick breakfast or treating yourself to something special, Rise Donuts never disappoints. I can't wait to return and try even more of their creative offerings. Highly recommend this spot for any donut enthusiast! read more

After eyeing these doughnuts on instagram for a while, we were so happy to finally get the chance to stop in! These doughnuts are worth the trip!! Where Donut Dreams Are Fried to Perfection If you've ever wondered what happiness tastes like--spoiler alert: it's warm, golden, and comes from Rise Donuts. These sweet rings of joy are made fresh all day, which means there's never a wrong time to "accidentally" find yourself in their parking lot. From the moment you walk in, it smells like a sugar-coated hug. The donuts? Fluffy masterpieces. Light enough to float, rich enough to feel slightly sinful, and so fresh you'd think they were made just for you (because, well, they probably were five minutes ago). Whether you're a simple-glazed minimalist or a unique flavor-loving maximalist, Rise has your cravings covered. Honestly, I'm not saying they're magic, but if you bite into one and briefly forget your responsibilities, don't say I didn't warn you. Best Boston cream I have had in a LONG time - real vanilla custard (not fake pudding). Pro tip: Get a dozen. Tell yourself it's to share. Then sit in your car and "accidentally" eat three before you even get home. No judgment here--Rise made you do it. Also, the service is fast and super friendly! read more

Excellent donuts, definitely worth the quick stop in and ~$4 price tag. We stopped in for a quick sweet treat on the way to another store while in town, getting a glazed donut and a chocolate glazed one. Both were phenomenal - large, great flavor not just for the glaze but the donut too. The shop is small, and there's not a lot of space to eat inside. But they have a couple of seats outside for the warmer weather. The folks at the counter were nice and rung us up immediately. Great spot, very excited to go back in the future. read more

Well.... It's worth the hype. We took a ride for the 8am open on Sunday morning. Highly recommend , these doughnuts sell out quick. By 8:01am they had to bring out a second tray of the signature Apple Fritter. Greeted by friendly faces in a small quaint cafe known for doughnuts but also can stay for a quick bite. We bought two of each flavor to try. Should have only bought one of each. They are heavy and you can be satisfied with a half. They are amazing !!! Hands down one of the best I have ever tried. Not greasy , fluffy, very tasty. Flavors are classic but so fresh. Can't choose which I loved most , toss up between the apple and the dark chocolate but the Raspberry is if you're in the Wilton area I would make the pit stop. ( be aware of the price tag though ) read more

Yum! Went this morning after hearing good things and we were in the area at 9:30 ish (Sunday). I was shocked that we got easy parking and there were only like 2 people in line! There were 6 donuts to pick from and they all sounded good. We got the Aztec cinnamon, the jam donut, brown butter vanilla and apple fritter. We ate the jam donut there at a big long table and it was really good! LOTS of jam but it didn't taste like too much. We also split the Aztec one which was much less sweet and it was still warm. We got an iced matcha with maple and an iced latte with vanilla syrup (both syrups were housemade). Eh I couldn't taste the syrups and the drinks were just okay. I could make better at home. I'd probably stick with just a cold brew next time. We didn't try the other 2 donuts yet but I'm sure they'll be good. Lots of people coming in and out today. I liked the ambiance, friendly and welcoming and the woman packing the donuts was quirky and cool. I listed to her describing the Pantone donut and her explanation made me want to try it but we had already been sitting eating our other donuts. read more

I would travel from anywhere to have doughnuts from Rise. I've been to most of the famous doughnut shops in NYC and Rise beats them. I tried 4 different doughnuts and each bite was heavenly. My favorite was the apple crisp. It had a thin crisp bite to it. The visually appealing warm doughnut with an amazing frosting that wasn't too sweet and the perfect dough just made me fall in love at first bite. These are doughnuts that I would gladly eat every day. read more

Just coming here to say -- I visited Rise Doughnuts this morning as a first-timer, and I have not been the same person since. Respectfully... what is happening here? I consider myself someone with a very refined palate (I've done extensive donut research across multiple states -- it's a burden I carry), and these were not just good... they were luxury-level, life-altering, slightly offensive in how superior they are to every other donut I've ever encountered. Like... I took one bite and immediately had to pause and reflect on my past decisions. Where have these been? Why was I living like that before? The line out the door? Completely justified. I would wait in tailored outerwear, in adverse weather conditions, with dignity, for these donuts. And somehow -- somehow -- the staff remained warm, kind, and efficient while clearly operating at a level that should qualify as a public service. The coffee? Perfect. The donuts? Criminally good. The entire experience? Elevated, seamless, and frankly a bit disruptive to my emotional well-being. A++ across the board. I will absolutely be back. Frequently. With intention. Possibly with a slightly concerning level of commitment. Rise Doughnuts, you didn't just meet expectations -- you raised them to a level that feels, quite honestly, unrealistic for everyone else. read more

This is my favorite Doughnut place in the area (Western CT and Hudson Valley). You cannot go wrong; every version I have tried is great. I have not tried the filled Doughnuts so of those I am not sure. The Cinnamon, chocolate, brown butter, Strawberry and fritters are all fantastic. You might have to wait a bit, but it moves fast. Plus, they keep the new rolling out all morning so even if they run out they often have fresh one's finishing. read more

Rise is a fantastic addition to Wilton. The donuts are fresh, unique, and consistently delicious. The menu features just six donut flavors each day, changing daily. While the selection is limited, it's hard not to find at least one flavor that makes your taste buds pop! Some flavors rotate back in often, but the variety is part of the fun. Each donut is larger than your typical donut--so indulgent that eating two might leave you needing a nap! The staff is friendly and genuinely excited to see you walk through the door. While the line can look intimidating, the process is well-organized and efficient. You'll move through quickly, without ever feeling rushed. Rise offers coffee in a few styles, including some iced drinks, but it's clear their focus is on donuts--not being your neighborhood coffee shop. And that's perfectly fine--they delight in what they do. The shop itself is clean and welcoming. There's only one table and a few chairs inside, with a couple more outside--so Rise is very much a "to-go" kind of place. I am in there once or twice a week and buy a box of six pack for my clients. This has really helped my clients remember me and invite me back! read more

Fresh, warm doughnuts coming through! We were a bit late so the choices were quite limited at 12:30pm on a Sunday. But the only two flavors they had left did not disappoint. The vanilla bean glazed and cinnamon streusel-like doughnuts were superb. They were both still slightly warm and they were unbelievably light and fluffy. The space is really cute - one long communal table and a small curated section of local and handmade crafts and roasted coffee beans. There's ample seating outside either on a bench outside or around the building from the shop. Will definitely come back at least two more times. Next time, we'll come earlier for more of a doughnut selection and another day to try out their pop-up barbecue menu. They've got a full smoker out front and offering smoked BBQ meats starting at 3:00pm on select Sundays! read more

Before even setting foot into this donut shop, I had plenty good word of mouth of the place, so back in the summer, I finally caved and paid the place a visit. Since then, I come almost weekly. I normally order their Chocolate Butter and Maple Sea Salt, and the donuts are soft like resting your head on a pillow. They're also piping warm when I get these donuts, but that's because I get their when they open and so I sometimes get first pick. I do hear that their Apple Fritters are to die for, but I haven't had a chance to try one yet (maybe soon). They have a great interior to showcase this shop and invite you in no matter what kind of donut you're looking for. The service is also top-notch and the people behind the counter are friendly. One cashier during a recent visit even quipped "we're all friends here", something I chuckled at and kind of agreed with when I took a moment to think about it on one of my donuts. Now, you do pay 4 plus tax for 1 donut, so if you go, make sure you have money in hand. If you can get past the price and are in Wilton, give this place a try! Update (10/20/23, aka literally the DAY AFTER I posted this review): I came in for my fix and saw that the Maple Sea Salt was not available, so I asked my cashier about the other donuts by pointing and asking. She was more than happy to tell me which each were so that I knew what I was getting. I was today years old when I heard of a Blueberry Lemon donut, and while that sounded good, I went for an Apple Fritter (I.e. the reason for this update since I had still yet to try one). Let me tell you, the Apple Fritter is ALL worth the hype! It had a sweet crunch to it, and you can definitely taste the apples. Just an all around great addition to their menu. Of course, you're paying a dollar more for these, so again bring your money when you come. Keep up the outstanding work Rise! read more

Stumbled across Rise via social media and decided to check them out one Sunday morning. They are situated in an adorable, old building in what looks like a great center of town. A few small shops, but an even better walking trail! I will definitely be wearing my sneakers and checking out some of those walking spots down the street. The donuts were good! I ordered one of each - SO fresh and some still warm. In fact they had just run out of the chocolate one but told me to wait 2 min when the next batch was coming out. Looks like they have a rotating selection of unique flavors which is to check out every once in a while. The staff was extremely friendly and had quick service! I'd recommend if you're in the area! read more

THE BEST most airy doughnuts (the Aztec Cinnamon is a MUST TRY!), fritters, toast (highly recommended the whipped ricotta with guanciale and hot honey), Lattes, and Hot Chocolate. They transformed a historic building (formerly Lang's Pharmacy) into the hippest spot with a refined old-school vibe. Pick from either a seat at the bar facing outside, a seat at the communal tables, or in warmer weather sit on one of the benches outside the shop or on the stone steps- just don't block the doors).
