I love the Columbia culture and cuisine in Houston. This place is a great place for empanadas, paisa, fruit milkshakes and Columbian baked goods. You won't leave here hungry, the portions sizes are large. The sweet treats are amazing and the coffee is robust and dark. If you venture out to the Katy give this place a try for brunch read more

Risaralda Bakery - Bandeja Paisa - Bakeries Near Me - Houston, Texas

Honestly, average. It's a pretty large venue with outdoor seating. I'm not a fan of the food although my in-laws really like it. Service is hit or miss as we been here a few times. Normally they are on the slower side as well. The cheese bread is legit. I'm sure my in-laws will continue to come here, but overall it's my not cuisine. read more

I am Colombian, and I adore Colombian food. When we first discovered Risaralda, it was one of the best restaurants around, and I used to recommend it frequently. However, I had a very bad experience regarding their pricing last Friday, May 1st. On Google Maps, a specific price is listed for the *Bandejita Paisa* on the menu; yet, when I went to place an order to treat my coworkers, I was surprised to find that the actual price was $5 higher. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told that she could not attend to me and that I was required to pay the price listed on the restaurant's physical menu--they refused to honor the price shown on the Google menu listing. This situation upset me greatly--especially since I was a regular customer--and I was even more annoyed that the manager did not come out to speak with me, if only to offer an apology. read more

I was going to go buy pastries nearby but saw Risaralda. It was a Sunday and there were many folks dining in. I bought pastries from a nice lady. Some have guava filling and some dulce de leche. They were tasty and reasonably priced. When I'm in the area I plan to go eat there. read more

Had the bandejita paisa and it was flavorful. The beef was thin and soft. The pork rind was fresh and the buñuelo was delicious. Will return for a cafecito. read more

Some employees in the cash register are stealing money from their customers, charging extra money for items we never receive, adding extra charges and duplicating the offered gratuity. It's filthy and I'm embarrassed that they called themselves Colombians. read more

The customer service is not good. They have n attitude!!!! The food is very nasty it made me sick. Dot waste your money on this place. So sad that colombian "resaturnats" are run by people like this that couldn't care less about food safety and good customer service. Just bc they have nice pictures of the food and their place people keep going to waste their money and time and hurt their health along the way with such bad very bad food. The manager/owner has the worst attitude!! read more

Drove from the Heights to this place because we really enjoyed the food before when they were across the street in the smaller location. Unfortunately it's nothing like it used to be. The drink was amazing. The food feel short. Very little flavor, overall bit of a disappointment. Service was prompt when we first got there but then then server just disappeared and we had to wave someone else down to get a "Togo" box and then someone else to pay the check. Bakery is very limited. read more

I wish I would have ordered the soup. The sancocho de pescado that my mom ordered was the bomb.

Risaralda is a gem in the rough! My husband and I love stumbling upon a family owned mom and pop shop. We come here and get the empanadas and sometimes the pasteles de pollo if they have any. Don't try to get them on Sundays as they will sell out. The empanadas fillings are savory and juicy and the best party CRISPY and HOT! The pasteles de pollo is hefty and a meal itself. It's like a chicken pot pie that you can hold in your hand. Don't skip out on the green sauce vinaigrette. It balances out the savory pastries. They do have other pastries but we have not tried them yet. I would love to try the having a meal there but we have too many people. read more

***THIS LOCATION HAS MOVED!!!*** 16211 Clay Rd #128, Houston, TX 77084 We've been going to Risaralda for years, we love it. We just took a trip to Armenia, Quindio so we were craving arepa, lulo, buñuelos and huevos pericos. They didn't disappoint. Although it's not exactly the same, it's the closest to the real deal, the new location is much bigger, looks nice and the service is good. Our whole meal cost $18 read more

I don't even want to review this place because it's so good and my favorite family secret. Risaralda was hit hard during Harvey and has risen from the ashes to continue serving excellent food and baked goods. My mom and I went (and of course, ran into about 30% of the Colombian population in Houston) and had the revuelto and bandejita paisa. Fresh food, such friendly service and delicious MASSIVE portions. Where else can you literally get a flank steak on your perfect beans and rice? The baked goods deserve their own review, tbh. Try the pandequeso, try the empanadas and don't think about the calories. This is such a homestyle place, and near and dear to my heart. Check it out if you're curious about good, family style Colombian food. read more

Without question the most flavorful empanadas we had all weekend in Houston! The maiza they use for them is delicious and their filling isn't just meat and potato, they add some chopped green onion and seasonings. The ají isn't the greatest but it suffices, but their entree plates are big enough to share and they season their meats really well plus the arepa is large and comes with a big slice of quesito. read more

No vuelvo jamas read more

What is wrong with this place: you buy pastries they are hard as a rock (for sure from yesterday); you buy pan de bono, they are sucked (chupados no inflados) and salty :(, I bought concha de guayaba and it was old hard; I had to throw everything on the trash. THIS PEOPLE THINK they are in Colombia selling bakery in a Usaquen (barrio) in Bogota. LOW quality food. Now they open another one in Spring Cypress and it is the same bad quality. The pastries all hard. Respect your customers!!!! Not going back again. read more

My mom went to buy some pastries this morning and the lady behind the counter was EXTREMELY rude to my mother when she asked her what each pastry was as my mom pointed to them. My mom wears glasses and has trouble seeing so she asked the lady to clarify which pastry was which and the lady using a very rude tone said "It is clearly written there". My mom informed her that she was not able to see well and she did not even apologize for her rudeness. And it wasn't like my mom responded rudely to the lady at the counter. We love coming here to buy pastries, but I think that it is important to train the staff on customer service. People who are blind or visually impaired need help especially if the signs are written in small print and should be treated with dignity and respect as they ask for assistance instead of being treated with rudeness. read more

Holy cow, this place has awesome bread!!! I wish UberEATS would deliver from them because I hate fighting hwy 6 traffic, but it is well worth the fight! I had to ask the lady today about their Pan de Queso vs their Pan De Bono because I had a debate going on with someone about them. The lady said they're both pan de Bono except shaped differently. I originally thought the Pan De Queso was an Almohabana, but after today I realized it really is just the Pan de Bono - which is was cheesier and made of yuca flour whereas the almohabana is made with masarepa or white cornmeal and isn't as cheesy. The staff is super nice and helpful. The first time I went the lady convinced me to try an Empanada de Cambray which is filled with guayaba and queso blanco. She warmed it up for me and suggested I sit and enjoy as she served me a tinto con leche (coffee with milk). I was blown away by the billowy soft dough that surrounded a plentiful amount of sweet guayaba and ooey gooey cheesy goodness; I never would've imaged these two would be so damn good. After eating it, I was too full to eat anything else lol. I did find out they only serve breakfast items all day so don't look for any sancocho or arroz con pollo. They do have their version of a pandeja paisa that they call Risalda; I have to say this was super good but did not come with the customary plátanos maduros. I do really love their arepas because they are huge and made of white cornmeal which is different than the typical choclo ones I am accustomed to. Also have to add that I really loved their Jugo de Lulo con leche here; it is super good, luscious and downright satisfying. The reason for a 4 star rating? I had their Plato Típico this morning which is huevos pericos with an arepa con Queso and a coffee or hot chocolate. Sad to say, the eggs had no seasoning whatsoever which is not cool when I came to my coffee shop to have my iced coffee and hang with my girls. One other interesting thing I found it is they are related or rather also owned by Mi Pueblito over in Richmond Ave. read more

This is the first time in a couple years where our food order has just been completely wrong. We came in and made an order to go since the restaurant was closing soon and waiting about half an hour for a food to be prepared. However, upon arriving home we realized they had gotten our order wrong which is extremely disheartening. They put two bandejita paisas instead of one. And they also completely ignored our request for no rice on our soup order. I don't understand why I even tipped if this is what happens. Really disappointed, won't be coming back any time soon. And to add on this, the bandejita paisa's beans were so watery and there was absolutely no salt added on anything on the plate. And the avocado was really hard to even cut with a knife. ???? This place is the best. I have been here dozens of times over the past several years and I have never been disappointed. I no longer eat meat, but the when I did, I loved the empanadas con papas. All of the baked good are made with love. My favorites are the Colombian buñuelos (NOT the same as Mexican buñuelos), pan de bono, really everything in the bakery section. The customer service has always been really positive. Everyone who works there has been very kind/helpful. They are still open (during COVID-19) but have protective measures in place. I have no pictures because I usually devour everything before I think to take a photo. It is that good. read more

I do not understand how this place doesn't have many reviews. Not only is this great Colombian breakfast and all you can want bakery, but it's so good! You can have a full out breakfast for two people under $20! It's so affordable and delicious. I do think service could be a bit better specially since it's such a small place, but the great food honestly makes up for it.
