I am Colombian, and I adore Colombian food. When we first discovered Risaralda, it was one of the best restaurants around, and I used to recommend it frequently. However, I had a very bad experience regarding their pricing last Friday, May 1st. On Google Maps, a specific price is listed for the *Bandejita Paisa* on the menu; yet, when I went to place an order to treat my coworkers, I was surprised to find that the actual price was $5 higher. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told that she could not attend to me and that I was required to pay the price listed on the restaurant's physical menu--they refused to honor the price shown on the Google menu listing. This situation upset me greatly--especially since I was a regular customer--and I was even more annoyed that the manager did not come out to speak with me, if only to offer an apology. read more

Risaralda is a gem in the rough! My husband and I love stumbling upon a family owned mom and pop shop. We come here and get the empanadas and sometimes the pasteles de pollo if they have any. Don't try to get them on Sundays as they will sell out. The empanadas fillings are savory and juicy and the best party CRISPY and HOT! The pasteles de pollo is hefty and a meal itself. It's like a chicken pot pie that you can hold in your hand. Don't skip out on the green sauce vinaigrette. It balances out the savory pastries. My mom went to buy some pastries this morning and the lady behind the counter was EXTREMELY rude to my mother when she asked her what each pastry was as my mom pointed to them. My mom wears glasses and has trouble seeing so she asked the lady to clarify which pastry was which and the lady using a very rude tone said "It is clearly written there". My mom informed her that she was not able to see well and she did not even apologize for her rudeness. And it wasn't like my mom responded rudely to the lady at the counter. We love coming here to buy pastries, but I think that it is important to train the staff on customer service. People who are blind or visually impaired need help especially if the signs are written in small print and should be treated with dignity and respect as they ask for assistance instead of being treated with rudeness. read more

This is the first time in a couple years where our food order has just been completely wrong. We came in and made an order to go since the restaurant was closing soon and waiting about half an hour for a food to be prepared. However, upon arriving home we realized they had gotten our order wrong which is extremely disheartening. They put two bandejita paisas instead of one. Holy cow, this place has awesome bread!!! I wish UberEATS would deliver from them because I hate fighting hwy 6 traffic, but it is well worth the fight! I had to ask the lady today about their Pan de Queso vs their Pan De Bono because I had a debate going on with someone about them. The lady said they're both pan de Bono except shaped differently. I originally thought the Pan De Queso was an Almohabana, but after today I realized it really is just the Pan de Bono - which is was cheesier and made of yuca flour whereas the almohabana is made with masarepa or white cornmeal and isn't as cheesy. The staff is super nice and helpful. The first time I went the lady convinced me to try an Empanada de Cambray which is filled with guayaba and queso blanco. She warmed it up for me and suggested I sit and enjoy as she served me a tinto con leche (coffee with milk). I was blown away by the billowy soft dough that surrounded a plentiful amount of sweet guayaba and ooey gooey cheesy goodness; I never would've imaged these two would be so damn good. After eating it, I was too full to eat anything else lol. I did find out they only serve breakfast items all day so don't look for any sancocho or arroz con pollo. They do have their version of a pandeja paisa that they call Risalda; I have to say this was super good but did not come with the customary plátanos maduros. I do really love their arepas because they are huge and made of white cornmeal which is different than the typical choclo ones I am accustomed to. Also have to add that I really loved their Jugo de Lulo con leche here; it is super good, luscious and downright satisfying. The reason for a 4 star rating? I had their Plato Típico this morning which is huevos pericos with an arepa con Queso and a coffee or hot chocolate. Sad to say, the eggs had no seasoning whatsoever which is not cool when I came to my coffee shop to have my iced coffee and hang with my girls. This place is the best. I have been here dozens of times over the past several years and I have never been disappointed. I no longer eat meat, but the when I did, I loved the empanadas con papas. All of the baked good are made with love. My favorites are the Colombian buñuelos (NOT the same as Mexican buñuelos), pan de bono, really everything in the bakery section. The customer service has always been really positive. Everyone who works there has been very kind/helpful. They are still open (during COVID-19) but have protective measures in place. I do not understand how this place doesn't have many reviews. Not only is this great Colombian breakfast and all you can want bakery, but it's so good! You can have a full out breakfast for two people under $20! It's so affordable and delicious. I do think service could be a bit better specially since it's such a small place, but the great food honestly makes up for it.
