This is a mom and pop restaurant which I love trying. Service was slow, I mean slow. When we sat down, it took about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and ask if we were there to eat??? Really, why would we have come in, sat down and look like a dear in head lights waiting for someone to take our order as we are looking at the menu. With only 3 tables I could not understand why it took 6, count them six times to get a refill on water. And that's after flagging the waitress down from chit chatting who was literally 5 feet away from me. Now as far as the food, I got the paisa Bandeja thinking this was a safe option. The beans were flavorful but that's about it. Was not the worst but nowhere near the best. When I tell you service is bad, when I went to pay at the register because no one brought us a check, again it like they were surprised I needed assistance to pay and that took several minutes for someone to decide to take my payment. The moment we walked in, it had a great atmosphere and great service. We took a seat and ordered a few empanadas along with a picada valluena for 1. The picada for 1 was enough for 4 people to pick on. It was sooo good. It came with French fries, plátanos, Chicharrón, chicken, and steak. I would highly recommend getting this and few empanadas to start your meal. We got so full off of it, we didn't get a main entree. I came here a few weeks ago on my way home to San Antonio. Cali is known for having a wide variety of delicious food in Colombia. Unfortunately this restaurant didn't live up the expectation. We ordered papa rellena, empanadas, and buñuelos. The restaurant had no idea what pasteles de carne, champus, merengon, or chuzo desgranado was. Why? Because despite the name "Caleñas", all you get is comida paisa. The papas rellenas and empanadas were very oily, and they were fried in old grease. They were awful. The buñuelos were very dry. We spent about $25 on food that we couldn't even eat because of the swill taste. On the positive side, the staff were very nice. If you want food from Valle de Cauca, then don't let this place fool you. It's not there. It's just poorly cooked comida paisa with half the flavor. read more

Tuve muy mala experiencia con una lechona aye ordene para thanksgiving. Me la dieron quemada y seca. Cuando pedi la orden les pedi que no me quemaran la lechona sun embargo me la quemaron y secaron la orden de lechona. Yo llame y el dueno me Dijo queen asi vendian la lechona y que le Llamara a la policia y que no le importara si no me habia Gustado la lechona. The dish is large but so is the price tag ($12). Service isn't really that great but friendly. The taste of the dish though is really bland aside from the chorizo. Having lived in NYC ,where there are some excellent Colombian places, made me set my standards high for Colombian food. That being said this place is pretty good! The portions are just the right amount. The menu is rather small but it has a bit of everything. What I would change? Service needs to be improved a bit. I think they only have one server so when this place gets busy she gets overwhelmed. Great food! I'll be back for more! PS.
