It's unfortunate that Yelp doesn't let you leave a zero star review, because there is nothing 'gran' about Gran Colombia. Without a doubt, it is THE WORST Colombian restaurant in all of Houston and it hurts me to say this as a Colombian. I was excited to a support a different and new Colombian spot, Ive been to many of them in and around Houston, and made a reservation here many days beforehand to watch Colombia play in the World Cup. The day arrives of the big World Cup match, and my family and I are ready with our friends to have an amazing experience (that never happened) at Gran Colombia. Our entire party is there, and they had us standing at the door for 15 minutes, because they couldn't find the reservation that they had confirmed with us 3 days beforehand. After standing, they found a crappy area in the corner that didn't even fit all of us. They put down chairs around it, and we were seated. It's funny, they hype up this restaurant all over social media as the place to be to watch Colombia play in the World Cups, but that is false advertising. The restaurant is a bit small, and they clearly don't have the capacity or staff to manage an event like this. They have a few screens to watch the game, a bar, and a bakery. However, this place is mediocre. They had a packed house for sure, with only about 2 waitresses running the entire restaurant, it makes no sense. We were seated in our crappy spot, and it took them 30 minutes to give us a menu. Mind you, we had arrive 45 minutes before the game started in anticipation of a fun time that never happened. It took another 30 minutes before a waitress took our order, and yet ANOTHER 30 minutes before our mediocre food arrived. We watched the entire first half of the game, in our crappy corner, with no food or drink. We were definitely starving and thirsty. We ordered a Picada, empanadas, Maracuyá Margarita, Arepas, and a Colombian burger. It was all terrible.... The Picada came out cold, ideally it should be a platter with all types of meat, potatoes, Yuca and plantains. OH AND IT SHOULD COME OUT AT LEAST WARM. Nope...didn't happen The Super Picada was small, the meat came out cold, the arepita was hard, and it was just not worth the price. The empanadas and burger were decent, but nothing special, you can find something 10x better at another Colombian restaurant. Also, THEY NEVER BROUGHT OUT THE AREPAS WE ORDERED. My poor son was eating out of our mediocre Picada, because his arepas never arrived. The service was non-existent and just poor. It was also ridiculously hot inside the restaurant. We looked at the thermostat and they had it at 80 degrees. Wow, just wow. I wasn't sure if we were at 'Gran Colombia' or 'Gran Sauna'. They really have this restaurant packed with people excited to watch fútbol and have the thermostat at 80... Once they finally decided to bring the check, it was pricey and of course, they included gratuity that they did not deserve. Gran Colombia is bottom of the barrell. Houston has such delicious Colombian restaurants, with tons of them in the Katy areas. They are all above this poor establishment. This is not the spot to watch a game or spend your money. Nonexistent service with mediocre food that is not worth the price. No señor.... read more

Hicimos la orden y luego de esperar por casi 40 minutos, preguntamos y otra mesera nos dice que la orden en sistema no reflejaba nuestro pedido. Increíble!! Mal servicio de la primera mesera y mal gesto de la segunda que ni siquiera sabe cómo resolver una situación como esta. Food was very good. The service and ambiance not so much. When we first walked in they didn't really acknowledge us at all until about 5 minutes later even though there weren't really any customers. They were doing some sort of time share meeting when I went and were asking us to join and I didn't appreciate that. Food is good tho! read more

Muy mala experiencia en este lugar. Hicimos reservación con dos días de antelación para ver la final de la Copa América. Éramos un grupo de 20 personas y la señorita que nos atendió nos asignó la mesa 12. El día del partido nos llegamos a las 6pm (hora indicada por la señorita) y nos encontramos con que, dicho por el mismo dueño, no había reservaciones ni existía mesas con números. Después de hacer una gran fila y ver correr a todo el personal del restaurante corriendo de un lado al otro nos sentaron en el patio del restaurante con mesas y sillas plegables, sin a/c ni ventiladores bajo un intenso calor. Pedimos agua porque el calor era bastante fuerte y nunca nos llegó nada a nuestra mesa improvisada. Para ordenar tuve yo que levantarme de mi asiento y rogarle a una mesera que tomara nuestra orden; la joven Victoria se notaba bastante mal humorada y estresada. Ordenamos salchipapas, hamburguesas, bandeja paisa y chicharrón. Empanaditas, cervezas, limonada y un par de jugos. Las salchipapas pésimas! Nada que ver con lo que se muestra en la imagen del menú; las papas ni sal tenían, apenas unas pocas salchichas y ningún tipo de salsa! Nos cobraron la cuenta sin nosotros haberla pedido (por órdenes del dueño, según la mesera) y cuando intentamos devolver una de las salchipapas la mesera dijo que no podíamos hacer eso y que teníamos que pagarla. Otra vez tuvimos que corretear a la joven Victoria para pedirle servilletas y pitillos. La limonada pésima! Puro hielo! Definitivamente no estaban preparados y mucho menos organizados para recibirnos. Fue visible la improvisación y la mala gerencia por parte del dueño y el manager del lugar. The service was horrible!!! We ordered 6 empanadas for 3 people and the waiter just bring the food with no plates for us , later we asked a Bandeja Paisa to share and again he just bring the food and leave, we thought is going to bring the plates but no, I called him and he only bring one plate for me not for my wife and I had to tell him that we need two plates how is supposed to my wife are going to eat her food ? And my son asked a Burger, after 20 mins we had to call him again because the burger was not ready and when they bring it it was totally burned The waiter never offered us another drink even when he passed next to us and he saw we are with empty glasses WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! My wife and I tried this place and everything was wonderful. Service was great. Not intrusive. The atmosphere was nice and it wasn't too busy. Food was prepared well. My wife had Napoletana Chicken was delicious and cooked perfectly. Crispy and moist. I had the Arroz con Pollo that was also very good. Nice size portions so we have lunch tomorrow. We also had the Arepa con queso that was a nice appetizer. Great place to try something new. It was new to us anyway. read more
