We went here to celebrate my sister's birthday on a Saturday night and had a great time! There is a little club in the back where you can also order food and they have a live band and it was so much fun! I do find it interesting that they charge $10 for it, even if you're ordering food. The food was actually pretty good too, I was skeptical at first because of the rating on yelp and mixed reviews. My friend and I shared the Cameron's al Ajillo and it was soo delicious, we ended up ordering a other one! The sides we got were the Tostones and Arroz Amarillo con Vegetales and they were soo yum too! We also asked if they had a spicy sauce and they did, my mouth is watering thinking about it! This is one of the best Cuban restaurants you can eat at home in Houston. A friend took me here about 5-6 years ago when they were at another location that had a small buffet and this visit was no different (except there is no longer a buffet). The dishes are simple yet still complex at the same time and almost hard to describe. The ropa vieja tasted as it was cooked straight out of someone's kitchen alongside the black beans and rice and tostones which were crisp yet tender. I wish the tamal had more meat but I think traditionally it has more maíz anyways. They also have a bakery with fresh desserts and bread. I ordered the Ropa vieja, and the beef was more on the tougher side, but it was still really good, and I enjoyed eating it with my side of fried yucca sticks and plantain. My dad got the grilled red snapper which was delightful, but what I loved the most about his plate was the boiled yucca. I am a fried yucca fan, but after yesterday, I can confidently say that I am a boiled yucca fan as well. It was amazing, especially with that garlic sauce. Also, did I mention, the service was great, and our food literally came out less than 5 minutes after ordering. Awesome. Lastly, the dessert was heavenly. I ventured here with two friends from the area after a spa day. It was perfect. We had a pitcher of mojitos, empanadas, papa rellena, platano maduro, and croquetas. Drove 1 hour to get to this restaurant and wow was it worth it. Greeted with a smile. Clean and spacious. Food was amazing. My husband and I had ropa vieja, moro, yuca, chicken milanesa and tostones rellenos. Then a flan for dessert. We didn't have any alcoholic drinks and We didn't stay for the DJ which started at 7:30pm but we asked if we can take a Quick Look in the back where they have a live bands, bar, dance floor and plenty of tables. $10 cover charge. Wow! This place is special! My wife and I had the pleasure to try this restaurant through takeout for the first time and we are sold. The food was so fresh and so tasty you could tell they use quality meat. The skirt steak was some of the best I've had, I will ask for grilled onions next time the oxtails were out of this world. This is the first time I've ordered oxtails and boy I'm sorry I've been under a rock. This place did an amazing job making them so tender and oh so flavorful. The meat just fell off the bones and it was very flavorful. If you have never had oxtails do yourself a favor and dive in, you will not regret it. My hubby and I went in today around 11 am. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, organized and clean. Our server, Maricela, was very kind, patient and attentive. Other waitresses seemed very attentive as well and offered plenty of smiles. My husband ordered Ropa vieja with white rice and sautéed veggies. The meat was delicious, the rice was perfectly soft and the veggies were super delicious. I ordered the enchilado shrimp, with black beans and sautéed vegetables. This was our first visit and it wasn't unpleasant but meh. I was underwhelmed . Some of the dishes were fantastic and others were surprisingly underwhelming . The appetizer platter was really really good and this place has some of the best plantains ever. Perfectly cooked, carmelized and chewy. I love it. The oxtails were out of this world fantastic and I'm going to hunt down a similar recipe - smooth sauce with fall off the bone oxtails. The shrimp fajita plate was great too. Let's talk about their signature dish .... The Paella. Now bearing in mind that I've eaten different versions of Paella all over the world .... This one ranked as the absolute WORST. It was a soupy , stewy rice stew with imitation crab meat . The flavor of this stew was pretty good after I removed the imitation crab meat that tasted like heated up ,gelatinous garbage. So, if they advertise it as a seafood stew and left out the imitation mystery meat , I'd order it as a stew but as a Paella for $70 it's a total rip off. These people have been in business a while and maybe I don't know what a Cuban Paella is so I researched it and what I got was a seafood stew . The service was fantastic and I'm giving this a very reserved 3 with a note not to revisit . read more

Went back for the buffet- it was a little sparse- about 2 hot meats- typical sides but I was fine- they had my fave Ropa Vieja and of course blackbeans and rice.
