Yum, the only thing that could have made that better was a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Kudos for using a local company for their desserts, Bertuccos Bakery and giving them credit on the menu. Love it, supporting other Carroll County businesses. To top of the entire evening we had Blake as our server, the absolute % best. From the introduction, use of beverage napkins under our drinks, clearing of dirty dishes, and to the dry humor he engaged us with us throughout the evening. Thank you! In today's society many servers are handing me my bill before I even finish my meal and dont bother to clear away dirty dishes. What a pleasant evening out with friends with great food and quality service. We left by 530pm and the entire time we were there, at least 3 booths and a couple of tables were consistently vacant. Your hostesses need to work a little better at seating people without long wait times. The couple behind us were told a 45 minute wait. This is not our first time at Maryland Mallet and have been turned away at 4pm on a Saturday before due to no seating available because of reservations. Delightful. I also had the cream of, and Maryland crab, soup combination. My brother had the crab cake sandwich. I'd had it before, but wanted the oysters. His crab cake sandwich was double the size of any I'd ever seen, without exaggeration. He guessed it was 8 ounces or more, without exaggeration, with no visible filler, (Broiled). I had a few beers and we split the Bread pudding with Grand Marnier sauce. It was enough for four. The bar and food service was spectacular with "tag teaming" to make sure we didn't wait for anything. I'd like to thank the bartenders who served us perfectly: Kelsey and Nikkea. Award winners. Why?... Well, while the prime rib beef dinner was still was delicious the portion size of the beef was greatly reduced over what we've had there in the past. Both prime ribs were only about 1/2 inch thick... In the past they have been constantly been 3/4 inch thick and sometimes almost an inch thick. While they were done to our liking, one rare and one medium rare, both were a little on the tough side and not as tender as ones we've had there in the past. It was a chilly night on November 20th and I made a reservation for one of the tables close to the fireplace in the dining room. When we got there, the fireplace was not on. I asked some of the staff whether or not the fireplace could be turned on and they said it was too early. One staff member volunteered that yes, it was pretty cold in the whole dining area. Our server with Bonnie... And she was excellent. The bill for two prime rib dinners, one cup of onion soup, two additional side salads, one iced tea, and one diet cola came to $101 plus tip. I'm not sure if the issue was with the quality or freshness of the meat, but it was a very disappointing experience. I do want to note that the seafood my family ordered was actually very good and everyone else enjoyed their meals. I would rate the seafood around an 8/10. That said, I hope the restaurant looks into the quality of the red meat being served so others don't have a similar experience.
