First off I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and it tasted freshly brewed and delicious which is a rare thing restaurants get right. The Greek salad was amazing with Kalamata olives and lots of feta and fresh crunchy greens and the tomatoes tasted homegrown with flavor and were actually red and not anemic. Unexpected was the stuffed grape leaves that accompanied the salad with tangy mint and rice stuffing. Then the spinach pie arrived and wowza! It was really good! Flaky topping and lots of tasty spinach filling. Such a large serving I took half home. Couldn't resist taking a dessert home. Really enjoyed the Smith Island cake as it wasn't the overly sweet commercial bakery variety - tasted homemade like the original recipe I've had from Smith Island Maryland. We opted for a Fried Whiting dinner and a Fried Perch dinner (son has been in his fish era). Went with Baked Mac and Cheese (x2), Beans and Rice, and Cole Slaw. The wait was reasonable and the place affords a comfortable space to sit and converse or browse Yelp. There was a steady flow of walk in traffic, placing orders and picking up. Several Dashers hurried in and were handled politely and in a timely manner. The minimal staff worked well moving orders from idea to delivery. Our meals were delivered hot from the kitchen and every bit as expected. Portion sizes were large. Food was fresh and flavorful. Hot food was hot, and cold food was served cold. This is one of my pet peeves so I took notice. We didn't enjoy any drinks with our meal but they do offer fountain drinks, Philly Ice? and maybe some lemonades. To wrap it up....Don't sleep on Pecan Tree Cafe. They have obviously been doing it for a while and have a good handle on delivering a quality food product. Service was a plus, front and back of the house staff were friendly and attentive. Be looking for them at this year's York State Fair where they will be taking their food to the fair, and soon coming to those of us on the east side of York. They will be a welcome addition to both!! I think this was a great opportunity to just admit the mistake and exchange the customers ice cream for one she could actually enjoy and learn for future reference to clarify it's "spicy mango" ice. Additionally, the owner was called on speaker and he immediately spoke extremely rudely about the customer which made them more irate. This went on for about 10mins about 2 feet away from me while I was waiting to be attended. Early on, I offered to just pay for a new one and to please just give the lady a new water ice, the customer accepted but I was ignored by the employee and the argument continued. Very uncomfortable situation. Food: Got the shrimp cheesesteak, potato salad, and collard greens. I went in with high expectations, the food was good but not great. We heard of this place via social media so we were super excited to try something new. Between the service provided and the food not being mind blowing, I don't think I will be returning.

Over time, they dropped the "lic house" and just called them pubs. Because you never dropped the "lic house" makes me think that you haven't evolved like you should have. And frankly, your food is proof. In fact, it even made me nostalgic. But not in the way you might think. You see, I loved making fun food concoctions when I was a kid. My sister and I would watch this corny show called "Zoom" on Maryland public television, where the kid hosts would make recipes sent in from all over the country. We'd make homemade peanut butter cups using Jif and semisweet chocolate chips. Or weird sandwich combinations like pickles and potato chips and cheese and jelly. The seafood egg rolls weren't the worst part of my meal, but they were definitely sophomoric--as if a kid chef-in-training was asked to whip something up from Chinese food leftovers. Seafood should never taste fishy, yet these did. One bite hit me like something that had been sitting a little too long above the waterline. Not to mention, they were laying on a greasy glob of some mayonnaise accompaniment disguised as a fancy garnish you'd see on MasterChef. One word: Ick. The ahi tacos. Oh boy. My mind fills with seawater the moment I think of them because they tasted as if they had been fished right out of the ocean and then placed on my plate. They were wet. Soaked. Drenched. The gelatinous seaweed clump on each taco wasn't culinary-forward, just unappetizing. I took one bite and wished I could spit it back out, but I reluctantly swallowed it. My esophagus is now aquaphobic thanks to you. The moment the coconut jasmine rice hit my mouth, my tastebuds took the red eye to the coconut tree haven of the Maldives. Normally, this wouldn't be a bad thing, but the rice and coconut had no cohesion. It tasted like my younger self dumping a handful of shredded coconut--the sweetened kind my mom kept in the pantry for the wool on her Easter-shaped lamb cake--into a cup of microwaveable rice. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was your kind, charismatic waiter. He was lovely in every way--attentive, sweet, and helpful. He would have been an incredible host on "Zoom." If only his personality made the food taste better. For your sake, I hope you learn to evolve your kitchen's offerings beyond the amateurish trio I experienced. If not, your restaurant's bones may end up fossilized alongside every other place that couldn't adapt.
