Subpar. Margaritas were weak and tasted bad. Food was average at best. Miniature portion sizes. Go to Gloria's instead.

This place fell a bit short of an awesome experience. The wait staff was amazing and professional, however one of the managers wasn't. He was a short pudgy Hispanic guy with glasses, he had a table to himself and berated and belittled employees throughout our meal. My wife had enchiladas, they were nothing short of amazing. I had the 50/50 fajitas and they failed to meet expectations. The fajita portions were tiny, there was only two strips of bell pepper and about twelve strips of onion. The chicken fajitas were quite lackluster, they consisted of your typical precooked Tyson/Cisco foods frozen chicken breast that had been seasoned and reheated on the grill. (Think the bagged fajitas from Costco/sams). The beef fajita meat was a completely different story it was out of this world, tender seasoned perfectly and grilled to perfection. My first experience here and I was very disappointed. It was my husbands birthday and we arrived and it was not busy at all. We were seated in a booth that had food all over the table and seats, I asked to have it cleaned off and the hostess brought a wet washcloth over and handed it to me to clean myself. The silverware was dirty and had dried food caked on... the atmosphere was nice except the dirty floors and booths!!! I was amazed that it was slow and the floor was filthy!! I attached a picture the staff was talking and laughing when they should have been cleaning the lobby. Next we ordered off a menu that was brought to us and was charged wrong (family night), we arrived at 8:00 pm and this menu was provided to us. When we ordered we ordered from the menu and when we was finished our meal, the waiter (Anthony ) told us that we should've been here before 7:00 pm to order off of that menu. So they charged us regular price for everything, which the quality of the meal was subpar. Next- I told the waiter it was my husbands birthday and he said, "Are you ready for people to sing to you?" Then no one ever came- lastly, while we waited to pay our tab I began to walk out to the car while my husband stayed behind to pay and the waiter (Anthony) was sitting in the entry area on the bench that should be for guests waiting to be seated, texting on his phone. I said to him, We've been ready... but my husband is still waiting on you to cash us out, he jumped up and ran over to the table... I was so livid with the entire experience and will not be back. Let me start by saying that we went a few days after it opened. The entree was delicious. Exactly as I ordered. However, the tea glass was small and after a couple of sips, the glass was empty. We love all the other locations and are really glad to have them here in town. The food is the same quality that we've grown to expect at the other locations and they've done a good job with the atmosphere both outside and in. My only complaint is that it is unbearably LOUD inside this place during dinner time so we will most likely only go during lunch time. I think this is primarily because there is no sound buffer between the huge bar that takes up a third of their space and the rest of the restaurant. It's really unfortunate because there are less than a handful of places in Burleson that you can go out to eat for a nice quiet evening out and have a conversation with other people. The food is really great though. They're also opening another bar-type place in the same building called The Rim so hopefully most of that loud crowd with go there. I'm not giving it one star because the staff was friendly and efficient. The decor is nice, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The food however, tastes like Sysco delivers ready made stuff to heat and serve. I'm sorry, but there's nothing good to say about the fare. Everything tastes like it comes in a can or a box. The food at the place down the street with the lousy decor and the long wait for a table is a thousand times better. I'm sure this place will thrive though, because there's plenty of folks that like queso from a box and a can. read more

Love the happy hour. The 99 cent nachos and quesadillas are a nice touch. Aesthetically pleasing decor and cheap drinks makes for a great place to have a few. Wish they would open up part of the outdoor patio for happy hour but it is for restaurant seating only and not part of happy hour. I feel I should warn people about the compulsory "gratuity" or service charge of 20%. The idea of a gratuity is to show you are grateful for service. But when RM figuratively puts a gun to your head and forces you to give them a gift of 20%, it rubs me so much the wrong way, I'll not go back till they change that policy. We were a group of 10, but had 4 separate bills and the service was mediocre. I normally would have tipped 20% anyway, but being forced to just doesn't digest well with me. The food was good, the policy is foul tasting. Used to be groups were charged 17%. The manager said I didn't have to pay it as if I knew I had a choice. But I pointed out it didn't give me a choice on the bill. read more

Let me just start out by stating we just moved to Burleson and wanted to try out a new restaurant. I'm from Houston, and I know a few good Mexican restaurants. From the start it was bad, I ordered a peach margarita and asked the server what were her recommendations on the all the margaritas, she said she did not know and the waiters are not allowed to taste test anything. That just seems weird when you can't give a recommendation on the drinks you are selling to people. Not her fault. So I got the drink and it was basically nasty. I told her I wanted a different drink and says ok and also tells us we may have to pay for half of the drink... why it's nasty at first sip, and I'm not going to clearly drink it. Whatever. I ordered a second drink, again disgusting. At this point I didn't have a positive gut feeling about this place, but was hoping for the best. We ordered the queso with the white cheese dip while waiting for our food and surprise surprise that was disgusting, it was luke warm and was just overall not good. The waitress was really nice and helpful we are in no means blaming her. I ordered my entree with shrimp and Mexican rice, on this item I of course read the description it stated the food was going to be spicy. Being half Hispanic I can handle spicy, I didn't not see anything indicating how strong the spice was going to be. Usually menus have small little peppers showing how hot the food is going to be. Nothing. The waitress bought our food over and says to me, you know this is really spicy right?, I said yea I read it. Just knowing how everything else went I tried the red sauce that was completely drenched over the top of my shrimp. This was way to hot! The sauce needs to be put on the side, Incase someone does not want that over indulging spiciness slapping you in the face. My tongue started to go numb and I knew I could not eat this, so now I have to tell her the food was way to spicy for me to eat. I will not be going back. That was the first and last time. Drove up to pick up my own DoorDash order and called asking if I still pull up into the drive up line since that's how it was when everyone was shut down. The girl on the phone says yes so I'm waiting and she comes out to get my name and goes back in to look up my order. Some guy comes out asking why I was there so I told him I was picking up my order and he gets attitude saying I have to park and come in.... ok... I say "oh ok is that how it is now?" He mouths off with attitude again.." that's how it's always been!!" Um no. Not the last two times I have ordered from here. Guess it will be the last time. Yesterday my husband and I tried Rio Mambo for the first time! We decided to sit outside since it was nice! Let me tell at first our waiter was nice and on top of everything! We ordered queso Blanco! It was the worst stuff I have ever had! It tasted like cream of poblano and onions with cheese! It wasn't even white it was yellow! My husband put the salsa in the queso which made it a little better! Waiter never came back so we were so hungry we ate it! Regretting it! Finally received our food! My husband got Taco Cabona and he said the steak had very little flavor but he said everything else was great! My food was so gross! It was suppose to cream verde with cheddar and Monterrey cheese! It was so salty and tasted funky! I told the waiter I wasn't impressed and he said sorry! Then the check took over 10 min to get and then took another 5 min to get it back! This was our first time to eat here. We joined our son, his wife, grandkids, and his wife's parents. The food here was great! I had the vege-fajitas, and they tasted scrumptious. There was 2 couple we knew of, eating there. They came and served his wife's mother happy birthday cake! There are other places to eat Tex-Mex, but, this place seems good! We have been wanting this location to open for some time now. When we found out our favorite server from One the Border was moving over we were even more ready for this location to open. It's usually just my husband and I that go out to eat at Mexican food places (the kids HATE it--something I know they will get over sooner or later--who cant love Mexican food!!) so we always sit in the bar area. How sad was it that our favorite server could not be serving where she is the best at! Courtney is a rock star in the serving world and I hope to see her back in the bar area. She is one of the best servers I have ever had--seriously EVER. I found it sad that she could not be in the bar area since her husband also works there. Gross. The pineapple margarita was definitely flavored with synthetic flavoring rather than actual pineapple. Sad. Most everything we've tried here has NO FLAVOR other than the refried beans. I have been going to Rio since it opened in 2001 in Fort Worth! That is the best location. We moved to Burleson last year and tried this location but not with the same excitement. The tables are too close together not allowing staff and guests to get around, the staff are very young and the food isn't as outstanding as Fort Worth. I do hope over time it will improve and I know nothing will compare to Fort Worth but I look forward to visiting the Burleson location again. read more

Came to enjoy lunch with my family. The restaurant was very nice and so were the host. Our food was very good, definitely the best around Burleson area. Our only complaint had to be our server. I believe her name was Samera. She was nice when she greeted us and we thought our service was going to be excellent. She got our drinks to us in a timely manner but lacked the ability to stay on top of our refills. We understand it gets busy but we were bothered when we saw her standing around talking to her coworkers and on her phone. She had long conversations with her other tables but we felt neglected because it was always straight to the point. A restaurants food can be amazing but at the end of the day we will always chose a place to eat based off the service we receive. Hesitant on going back because we don't want to receive this type of service again. read more

I given this place two chances. The food is terrible. It has zero flavor. The white queso has the consistency of glue and has absolutely no flavor. We ordered fajitas on our second trip.....can't go wrong there! Wrong! The meat was thin flat strips that again had no flavor and wasn't very warm. We asked for lettuce 3 times to go with our fajitas, our waiter never brought it. We asked him what veggies came with the fajitas because it said we could substitute that over beans. He said uhhhhh like sliced veggies. We asked what kind, he said umm like sliced carrots. He was also clueless about several other items on the menu. I left a five star review earlier, but the service and food quality have gone down hill. We were eating at Rio Mambo every week. We looked forward to it every time. The first time that food (maybe the 10th time that we had eaten at RM, was not up to snuff, I blew it off. I expected the next time to be better. It was. The following visit there was a problem with service and the food. The next several times were just not up to par either in service, food or both. I am sorry. In fact I am grieving the loss. We need a first quality place to go in Burleson where you can expect the best in food and service every time that you go. I will go back in a few months and try again.
