Worst service we have ever had here. We got here at 2:20 and ask about our food after 30 minutes 10 minutes later my wife went to find someone but the kitchen was empty. But then the last 6 months it's gone downhill, I ask for the manager and at 3:15 we got our food. Worst part is there was only two people finishing their lunch we were the only ones there, my wife ordered lunch fajitas and I had to pick three 2 tamales and a taco. 12.95 13.95. and I ordered a small margarita on the rock with probably 8 ounce drink and it was $15 wow. Might be a little bit different. If the food was good it was best. The fajitas were not for Cooke at all. You could definitely tell they just slap something together. Then they came by and asked her everything was about three different people each time I explained to him how poor the service was and the poor quality of the food we never asked for any discounts or refunds or anything for we pay our $50 including a seven dollar tip for the guy who is probably a five on a scale of 1 to 10, Okay you get my point here. Save your time and money and go to Antonio's on 174 in Burleson or Mirandas or even the even Mexican Inn across the highway. This was my last time to visit. El Fenix has been a Foet Worth institution for decades. I usually go to the Camp Bowie location. However, my kiddo works in Burleson so we decided to stop by this location after her shift ended. Happy to report that this El Fenix is every bit as g99d as the store on Camp Bowie. Everything we had was just great. I had the Tamales and my kiddo ordered a sampler plate with flautas and quesadillas. A fantastic meal for both of us. Highly recommend this establishment if you enjoy Tex-Mex cuisine. read more

Service is terrible! 5 people in entire restaurant and waiting on drinks, chip refill and salsa refills. Seems more like a playground than a restaurant. El Fenix use to be really good but it seems they are all going downhill. Took a while to get our food. I got Carne Asada and it wasn't sliced and no steak knife. Waited to see if waiter was bringing one after I asked. Finally fiancé got up and went and asked another waitress for a steak knife. Her reply was I'm off the clock! Won't go out of my way again. Probably the worst Mexican food we have ever had. I had fajitas and my wife had chicken enchiladas. Our meals arrived less than two minutes after we ordered indicated everything was precooked and it was. My fajitas had no taste, the meat was dry, the onions were so overcooked that they looked slimey orange with two pieces of bell pepper. So we look for El Fenix locations and other cities just to have a chance to enjoy the food once again. We ate at the El Fenix in Burleson, south of Fort Worth, and enjoyed our lunch a great deal. The quality was good. The service was crisp and the restaurant was clean. The recipes at El F nix haven't changed in many, many years. And we got what we expected. We were given a gift card to El Fenix so we decided to go for a quick dinner. We went in and were seated right away and the restaurant was full. We asked for a booth, hoping we could get one and we did. Our waiter was so pleasant and fast. We didn't have to wait very long for our food either, and they came in hot Not to mention, Our chips were hot when we got them and our hot sauce was so good it wasn't runny or lumpy It was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and he brought us our food, everything was so tasty. My chicken enchiladas were full of meat ordered Charro beans, rice and they were delicious. My husband ordered the chicken nachos and he loved his as well. Our quick dinner didn't turn out to be so quick because we decided to order a margarita and enjoy the rest of the evening. Restaurant is clean and not loud. So we're just sitting and talking and here comes our waiter again fast on his feet taking care of us, so yes, we will be back again and most definitely more than that!! This is my first time to this location and we had a wonderful experience minus the hostess. No one was at the podium, so do we seat ourselves or wait. The young man passing by ensured someone would be with us shortly. Cool. A table for two please, before we could even get comfortable our waitress was there to take our drink order. A Sangria swirl, that's my go to margarita. It was so good. So I had to have another one. Don't judge me. I loved the chips and salsa. The chips taste so light and fresh. I could eat the bag. We ordered the El Jefe, making the substitutions to our liking and our Waitress Michelle w/trainee Amy were amazingly patient through it all. I ate it all, NO Leftovers. I'll worry about that later. I love how the staff worked together in all areas of the restaurant. ie: cleaning tables, bringing food out, serving drinks and finding the machine to cash us out, back to no hostess when we came in, she was bringing a to-go order up from the kitchen for someone. I used to love this restaurant about 10 years ago. I would go to the original one downtown every time I went to the world trade market several times a year. I happen to be stopping through Fort Worth/Dallas area and since this one was on the way... I stopped and ate. Looking forward to a delicious meal..... The chips were the same as they were many years ago however, their food all tasted frozen and not fresh and they served mission tortillas from H-E-B. First time coming here, my wife has eaten here before when she was younger, I was a little disappointed, it really wasn't that packed in here and it took them a little bit to get to us and then after we ordered our food we told our waiter that we needed straws and he never brought them it took us 3 times telling him and he finally brought us some straws the food was mediocre at best and not sure if this is an older el Fenix restaurant, but it could us some fixing up as my bench seat moved, hopefully next time we come here the experience will be better read more

Was rather empty when we showed up for a late lunch...which felt a little weird. Had a very typical Mexican decor and was comfortable. Met at the door with very friendly service. Our server was ok...although she would not recommend anything and made a point of telling us she does not know our tastes. It was off putting not to even say what was popular. But ok... My friend ordered seafood tacos. He enjoyed them and the rice and beans. I had the steak fajitas...ok, but really missed the mark on flavor. I am more than a bit disappointed. I ordered the bowl (not the cup) of Famous Tortilla Soup $7.99 and a side salad (I don't recall price). What I got was very little soup the broth & cheese was in a 1 cup container ( remember I did not order the "cup" of soup) there were a few bits of tomatoes in it and 11/2 small thin slices of avacado. There were no other vegetables & if I remember correctly the menu says its full of vegetables. This is poured into a bowl full of tortilla strips served with a lemon wedge & a mere sprinkle of Cilantro which I had to ask for. I know as I order Tortilla soup frquently...that this particular restaurant used to give you a big bowl and it did have vegetables and more than a Tablespoon of cheese. I guess I'll make my own from now on. In all fairness what was there tasted good there just wasn't much there and management needs to realize there is a difference between a cup of soup & a bowl of soup. My best friend says that a mexican restaurant can pretty much be summed up by its salsa... if that is the case, El Fenix is deserving of its 2.5 star rating. The salsa is generic and bland. The only saving grace with the chips and salsa was that the chips were seasoned. Normally I'd police this up by adding salt to taste, but due to COVID-19, such things as salt and pepper shakers don't get left on the tables (for good reason). I ordered pork tamales, which came in threes. It came out literally moments after I ordered it, which sounds great for timing, but not so good for freshness. It was almost as if someone else ordered it and changed their mind so they had one waiting in the back (btw, I am guessing that this is not the case). I don't know how to feel about this speed? Is it good or bad? I'm mixed. I was hovering around a 3-3.5, but I was relaxing at the end of my meal and the server brought out an extra bowl of chips. From Oklahoma, been to the one in Dallas & it was great. Came to this one since I'm in a hotel close by, actually I went 3 times in 2 weeks. Ha service was awesome all 3 times, food was perfect all 3 times & will continue to go here over any Mexican restaurant around. From the flavor to service, everything was spot on. Highly recommend for awesome drinks & food! Sat at the bar 2/3 times & the bartender (younger middle aged male, didn't get his name) but he was what the food industry calls a rockstar, greeted with a smile & service/nice convo (napkins, silverware, drinks & water, chips & salsa once I saw down) & got my app fast & checked back in perfectly. He also served many other tables, made all drinks & was running food. This guy is great, can tell he keeps the place flowing nicely. Last day in town & came back here for a good meal! We have been loyal El Fenix patrons for over 20 years at the Arlington & Cooper location. Today we decided to try the El Fenix location in Burleson. We were greeted by a most delightful hostess named Leah who greeted us with a smile and led us to a table immediately. Our waiter Jose intercepted, and also greeted us with a smile, and friendly professional conversation as we were seated. We were served drinks, chips with salsa while waiting for our food to be served. The chips were BOMB.COM The food also did not disappoint ... it was hot, beautifully plated, and quite delicious. After completing our meal we were approached by Ariel who I assume is management, if he isn't he should be! Ariel stooped by our table as well as others to make sure we had the best dining experience possible at this location. Ariel was kind and sincere, as he professionally culminated our experience by making sure we satisfied customers... INDEED WE ARE SATISFIED. The food and service we got at an El Fenix in Fort Worth was enough to drive us away from the restaurant for 40 years. Recently, we decided to give the Burleson location a try and were blown away by the food we'd gotten. The chips were especially good; light, thin and crispy. I'm a big fan of the beef burrito with chilli con carne. Filling and delicious. On our most recent visit, Estefani kept the tea and chips full and made sure that our stay was pleasant. =) read more
