My Boyfriend wanted to eat here for his birthday. He was definitely happy w the food and service. He ordered the Chilli Rellenos and a Margarita that had a kick to it! I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas. I loved their Sour Cream Sauce and fresh shredded Chicken. The Rice was ok. I wish it came with Peas and Carrots. It could have been warmer too. I love a Hot plate of food. I guess, they made my plate 1st, then made my boyfriend's plate and then let mine sit there until my Boyfriend's plate was done so they can bring out the plates at the same time. That would be my guess? The Chips were freshly made and the Salsa had a wonderful taste, flavorful with a great blend of ingredients. My boyfriend said, Our Waiter was really good. He said, he was really hustling. He really did give his all and had a positive attitude. The Cashier was really friendly too. Mexico Real is a staple to Fort Worth. It's very popular that's why you see the Parking Lot full. It's popular among Seminary Students because, the Seminary is close by. We tried Mexico Real Restaurant today, and we were very pleased! My husband ordered the guiso, and it was exactly what he likes--tender meat in a flavorful gravy-style sauce without being spicy. He is extremely picky and very hard to please, so the fact that he enjoyed it says a lot! The food was delicious, the portions were good, and we had a great experience. Was my favorite place but yesterday my guest ordered chicken fajitas .The sizzling skilled looked a bit weird with the chicken hit and miss. But it was worse than that, it was like old and dried out and it burned to grissle. May as well have been chicken bones! For $18.99 it should have been great but my guest was trying to pick off what decent edible chicken there was. I have to budget to eat at this place and to be served inedible food is tragic. I ordered the #10 chicken enchilada lunch special and I spent about $8. You can get different sauces on the enchiladas. Ask. I just know of sour cream sauce or queso sauce. You do get chips and salsa when you sit down. Which is nice. The restaurant seems clean. Looks cute with Mexican decor. Staff was really nice. There is a changing table in the restroom. Its not great but not bad, they have good portions the soup is okay it looks like they gave us the left overs not much chicken they forgot the tortilla chips and a little bit of rice at the bottom. The fajita plate was bland not much seasoning but the portion was good a lot of meat, rice and beans. My husband had the tamale plate, he said it was okay. We also ordered the platter appetizer the taquitos look like they were from a box freezer brand, nachos were good, quesadillas were over filled with cheese. They gave us a lot of red salsa too much for the bag of tortilla chips they gave us. Over all it was what you expect from a average tex Mex restaurant. We have been eating here for years!!! Lucky us, it is right around the corner. Our niece (who is from Chihuahua Mexico) says it is her favorite place to eat Tex-Mex; our extended family has had many get togethers there! Our favorites: Spinach or chicken enchiladas, (our daughter calls the sauce "sour cream crack sauce") fajitas, fajita salad, and the dessert flautas. The grilled items are very good and the San Antonio nachos will fill up four people easily. My husband will often order a bowl of refried beans with minced fresh jalapenos (he judges all other beans against these) The salsa is made fresh daily, and can vary, especially in the heat category. I had the tamale and enchilada plate. They were dang good. The pork tamale was meaty. The cheese enchilada was very cheddery. The chili con carne was really tasty. The only thing that could have been better were the refried beans. They were a little runny. I also agree that the hot sauce was a lot like just regular tomato sauce. But my dad can't eat super hot stuff, so it was great for him. The location is in a strip shopping center and doesn't look like much on the outside. Inside is pretty cute. It looks old-school Tex Mex with bright colors, adobe style walls and little brick arches. I'm digging it. Of course the service was spot-on. Plates run $9-$12 dollars, so it's mid-range on pricing. Every other time a shot was $2 no one said it went up and when we asked for the manager that just left our table, "he was suddenly gone". I consider this a lesson bought, and some business loss.
