Very good! I had 2 chicken quesadillas a'la carte. They were plain but very tasty. I'm happy the server suggested the queso. It was fantastic. The chips and salsa were decent if a bit bland. The queso made up for it. Service was good, but the wait for the check after finishing was a bit extended. It was late (after 7:30 pm) on a Sunday night. Things were nice and quiet. 5 more nights in town. I will likely return. read more

I'll tell you what, I hadn't had a bite to eat all day long and I was hankering for something that would really fill me up. Let me just say, Rio Grande went above and beyond the call of duty. I ordered myself the birria tacos, rice, and beans. The tacos were made perfect, unlike some less than ideal birria tacos I've had in the past. The consomé was full of flavor, and the meat was delicious. I was especially happy with the rice and beans, of which I paid an additional cost to add the white cheese sauce to each. The portions were extremely generous for the price, and I was left with plenty of leftovers. Overall, you'll get some delicious Mexican food for extremely generous prices. I guarantee! read more

We stopped in after hearing some positive reviews for this restaurant. We were seated right away, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. We each ordered a jumbo margarita, one on the rocks and one frozen. These were fine, nothing remarkable but drinkable. The chips and salsa were also fine- chips didn't taste stale, salsa was mild and not very chunky. I got the Pollo Feliz which was pretty good- chicken, rice, beans, and cheese, served with tortillas. Everything was hot and fairly bland, but tasted okay. My companion got the chicken soft-shelled tacos, which was just lettuce, chicken, and cheese. Again, nothing remarkable, but tasted fine. Price was reasonable, and our server was a bit overly attentive, but that could be because the restaurant was pretty quiet when we went. This wouldn't be my first choice to go back to, but I'd eat here again if necessary. read more

I've been going here for years off and on. It was always just ok. Well today we were seated by the kitchen when the smell of burnt hair hit me. I said something to my table about it. Well low and behold when my food arrives part of it (the chorizo) is more than burnt. I mean cinders. The funny thing is we were never asked how our food was. I can only assume because they knew. Classic traditional mexican place. You you love traditional mexican this palce is for you. Speedy Gonzalez is on the lunch menu: taco and enchildas, rice ro beans. Very inexpensive and really good food. Our most recent trip was in Sep. 2012. We will be back again when passing through WVA. read more

This place is so good! We go here probably way more often than we should, but it is just that tasty. I always order a jumbo margarita on the rocks and have only had one issue with that drink. But, when I told the waiter, a new one was made and it was very good. I have a hard time tearing myself away from the authentic chili rellano and the chicken and chorizo. Both are awesome and my fiance and I usually end up getting both and sharing. We have sampled other Mexican places in the Valley, but always come backe here. read more

I've just recently moved here from California I lived in Orange County in the city of Santa Ana so I believe I have enough experience to know what is good and what isn't good with Mexican food, if you're in this area or looking for tacos or THE BEST Mexican food this is your spot they even have Horchata which isn't very common around here & their mini tacos are only 2$ each which is reasonable over here :) trust me I boughten tacos in hurricane 2 for 12$ basically which was like.... This is a disgrace to be called authentic Mexican food. I am Hispanic from Texas....so I can't be BSed. Chips were meh and sauce was bad. It's obviously cheap canned salsa. I ordered authentic Chile Reno's accompanied by rice, beans and tortillas. First time in my life I seen cheese turn into a a watery liquid state dripping from my fork. Not the cheezy gooey goodness. The sauce was cheap canned sauce. It was disgusting and inedible. Rice was bland. Beans were okay. My partner ordered tacos carne asados. Inedible. Meat was hard as rocks. As we are waiting for our check, I ordered a pizza from Dominos.....to finally have dinner. On a positive note: Our dogs are going to eat well tonight. Dogs do eat dog food after all. read more

Food: Above-average Mexican food, is bland at its worst, but pretty tasty at its best. Salsa is mediocre, but we have never had a bad entre. I recommend the Camarones a la Diabla, and the Jumbo Burrito. Service: Not overly friendly, but we have never had a bad experience. Fairly short waits. Price: To be expected. Atmosphere: Decent, somewhat cliche. Rio Grande is probably the best Mexican restaurant in the Teays Valley area, and it rarely disappoints, but don't expect to find anything too unique. read more

Anything you order is fast, hot and authentic. We frequent this place for lunch during the week and can get in and out in 30 minutes. Chicken or steak fajitas are good. I do miss the lunch buffet, but maybe it'll be back some day....?? They always have chips and salsa to get you started and the staff here is consistent and always happy to see you. I've eaten at this place twice in the last several years. Food is good but do not pay with a credit card!!! I repeat, DO NOT PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD! Your credit card information will be stolen! I've had my credit card information compromised twice in the past 4 years and both times it has been immediately after eating at Rio. I'm not saying that someone in their establishment is intentionally stealing credit card information because I don't have proof. I don't know if their system is flawed or what's causing this but the only correlation between my credit card information being compromised twice is ......Rio. Pretty typical Mexican place. The restaurant is clean and the staff was fast and friendly. The food just wasn't very good. I ordered chimichanga fajita with chicken and my husband ordered chile relleno. Neither dish was "bad" really, but they certainly weren't good either. They both were SMOTHERED in queso. Nor too impressed with the quality of food. We have lived in Guatemala and Mexico and have eaten wonderful Mexican food in all parts of the US. This was a dissapointment. The salsas, taco beef, and sauce on tamales were bland and had no kick or special taste to them. Bland and tasted canned. The taco shells turned very soggy very quickly.
