Being honest went here 2 days to try different food and both times I was disappointed disappointed.. chips and salsa wer good. Asada, chicken,shrimp fries. Didn't have shrimp ?? The girl said I'll bring it out for u in a bit. By the time she did I was already done with me food :( next day we had carnitas plate and the food was cold cold the waiter went to re warm it up and wen he brought it back out the carnitas wer hot from the outside and cold inside and kinda raw. I sent it back and had a steak ranchera with pico de gallo but wen it came no pico de gallo just mole ;( Overall horrible food with horrible slow service to be honest. Nothing authentic about this place. The place is well decorate and feels authentic. Only reason I gave it 2 stars was because decorations and chips and salsa. read more

Driving in from Ohio, we stopped at Dunbar, WV on our way to Williamsburg, VA. We stopped at Los Agaves which was pretty close to the hotel at which we stayed. Whitney was our server and she was super positive and provided excellent service. We even discovered a Columbus, Ohio connection! The food was terrific. Mom had the Chicken fajitas, I had the chicken quesadilla and Dad had a burrito that had delicious shrimp in it. The food was all tasty and warm. Recommend the queso blanco. Yum! Plenty of chips and they were happy to bring more, or at least offer to bring more, before we ran out. Other staff was super friendly and very welcoming to a first-timer / out-of-towner just passing through. Thanks for the great hospitality! Covid protocol: People were pretty good about wearing masks though a few wore it below the nose which is a pet peeve. Great chicken wings....yes, a mexican spot with awesome chicken wings. By themselves the chicken wings are 5 stars! The pineapple shrimp tacos are a must try, very delicious. Was not a fan of the quesillda over stuffed with meat and not enough cheese. Next time I will try the fried shrimp chimichangas and 5 flavor margarita. Had dinner here for the first time in a while. They still have the same fast and friendly service that I remember and they brought our chips and salsa out immediately. The chips seemed a little stale, but there was a lot of fresh cilantro in the salsa, so that was pretty tasty. My husband and I both ordered the Pollo Loco, grilled chicken covered in melted queso blanco with rice, beans, and tortillas on the side. The chicken was seasoned ok, but it was a little on the dry side. The tortillas, as expected, were soft and warm. The beans and rice were basically like at every other Mexican restaurant. My husband gives them 3.5 stars. I would say the same. While nothing was bad, exactly, nothing really made our dinner stand out from most other Mexican restaurants I've been to. read more

There was plenty of chicken as you can see from the photo and it was an order for one. The chips and salsa were good and the salsa has a little spice but perfect amount. First time visiting here yesterday. We sat at the bar. We were going to do just drinks but then decided to get food as well. Service was very attentive and friendly. Our server went on break but she did let us know. We had two others servers taking care of us while she was gone. All three did great. Wish I would've caught all their names. If it helps we were there from about 1-3pm. We had the lunch chimichanga, 1/2 order of nachos and a cheese dip to start. All the food we ordered was very good and came out nice and hot! Solid-quality Mexican food and very good prices. I had the Chile Colorado, which I thought was at least somewhat unique, but then again I don't eat much meat and have never had Ranchera sauce. It was a lot of food. Get an appetizer and you could probably split it with someone. Or just gluttonously stuff yourself like I did. The meal, plus a big-sized imported beer cost a bit more than $15 including tax and tip. Not bad! I like how they seem to be building a chain of Mexican restaurants in former Shoney's locations. Not sure if the one in Parkersburg is also in a former Shoney's but this one and the one in South Charleston are. Another really great plus is that there is live music there on certain nights. A call it a typical, average, Mexican restaurant that tries to cater to a good variety of tastes. 3 of us went for lunch. One had a taco salad. She didn't think it was bad, but no better than anywhere else. Myself and another had the Mexican burger which looked awesome, was super messy (which isn't always a bad thing in my book) but surprisingly had little flavor. The block of cheese on it looked like a stick of butter..., interesting but odd. Still price for what you get was average by comparison. I would give 4.5 stars. My family visited again over Labor Day weekend. It was another great visit and the food was as fast, fresh, and delicious as we experienced a couple of years ago. Love this place! They always get my order right, even though it's somewhat modified from the menu. I've never gotten bad food from this Los Agaves. It is way better than the one in South Charleston. I have had one bad experience here, but it was with a server who went on lunch while he was serving me, but help came right away with another server who noticed me looking around. MOST HONEST STAFF EVER!! We were travelling through town and stayed at the Dunbar Plaza hotel, which is near this restaurant. Like an idiot, the morning we were leaving, I left my purse on a park bench while my husband & I wandered around the park area with our puppy. The purse was gone when we got back, and needless to say, panic ensued. Long story short, it was picked up by a young man who works at Los Agaves. He touched nothing inside and gave it to his supervisor, who called us from my cell phone. We were so grateful to them both and thanked them profusely. They were incredibly friendly, and we appreciated their honesty beyond words. We didn't get a chance to actually eat there, but any place with folks that AWESOME must be great. read more

Los Agaves is a chain of above-average Mexican restaurants that seem to favor defunct Shoneys locations. This outpost has a nice little bar in the corner and a full array of booths and tables for the family. The food is good but not great, but it's served fast and usually by a friendly waiter (I've yet to see a female employee at either local location. Decent beer and margarita prices and plenty of parking add up to make LA a nice and easy dining experience. read more
