This was my first time trying birria and it was not a miss. Actually, everything we ate here was so delicious and such big portions. The outside looks pretty unassuming but the food was incredible and the staff were so friendly. I almost forgot that we had been to Los Amigos years ago, the only thing we remembered was the tamales being served with refried beans on top. I guess we are the minority and not impressed with Los Amigos. The salsa they serve is more like a cheap jar of picante sauce, not good. Our entrees arrived hot and bland and the service was slow. The decor was nice. This place would be great for people with extremely sensitive palates. There is nothing spicy about this place. Adios Amigos. We won't be back to this location. The absolute worst experience I've ever had at a Mexican establishment. I wasn't greeted with a seat or a menu. The whole restaurant was completely empty. While waiting to place my order nobody came to me to ask if I needed anything or what I'd like to order i had to walk to the front to place my order instead of someone coming to the bar. The ambiance was completely uncomfortable while sitting there not to mention a man throwing up in the kitchen area. Food was not great at all I ordered the California burrito the asada was bland and tasteless absolutely no flavor what so ever. This is the best Mexican food in the valley. Fresh chips, good salsa. Fresh guacamole. The fish tacos are fantastic. The chicken, steak and al pastor street tacos are as well. The Quesadilla Supreme is enormous. Huge portions. The service can be spotty at times but it's never bad and it's usually excellent. We've eaten here a lot and have never had a bad meal. Always first rate. Sometimes known as Mexican Suzi's after the longtime former restaurant there, it's head and shoulders above the Mexican Shoney's that litter the area. Walking in, the humble aspect does not diminish. No, it is that typical price conscious interior that you seen countless times. But again, it's not about an opulent atmosphere, it's about some great Mexican food and Los Amigos delivers on that Mexican food. The carnitas are pretty solid and something that I would definitely recommend. The burritos looked good, as well. We stopped here on whim after a trip back into town. The service was great. The place was clean, well designed, modern. The tables were weirdly low and far away in the booths. But, the food was amazing!! The chips were super fresh, warm and had that crisp with a flour feel inside. The salsa made me not even want queso like I usually do. My chimichanga was great. And my husbands steak fajita was well seasoned. Even tortillas were super fresh! The presentation was impeccable. Lunch was very affordable and we were out of there in 30 min. I came here when visiting my daughter, and I was so surprised because it doesn't look like much. I got the Nachos Fajitas Texanos, and they were absolutely amazing. I also tried the Birria tacos which were really good as well. Honestly probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. My server's name was Genesis, and she was so sweet and so helpful and attentive. The place doesn't look like much, and the music was weirdly off for half of the time, but honestly I don't mind about either of those things considering the food and the service! We decided to try a highly rated TexMex near our motel. This was a surprise. It is situated on a bleak stretch of road in a rundown area of South Charleston. The chips were as good as they come, and when we asked for a spicier salsa, we were brought a homemade hot sauce (versus dipping sauce) that was a roasted tomatias (spelling?) sauce. This was excellent. My wife ordered the chicken mole (she loves mole). This was quite passable, but not spectacular, as the chicken was dry. Daughter ordered carnitas, and this was an excellent dish. I always like to try the Chimichanga because it is an authentic American dish (Arizona, I think), and the interpretations are always revealing. These were good, and the stuffing (two chicken and two beef) was very flavorful. I also spread the hot sauce on them. They were small, but four was plenty. The let-down was the margaritas. Though cheap, it was an off-the-shelf mix with very little tequila. The decor was perfect faux Mexican, and no one was fooled. The wait staff was first rate, friendly, and quick. The outside of the building feels a bit sketchy but the services and food was great. Nice and clean on the inside with lots of great menus items to choose from. Salsa was average but cheese dip was great with the jalapeño they add in. I got a steak quesadilla that was pretty good. The steak was nice and tender but could of used a bit more cheese. I have been there 4 times since they opened 1st time was awesome 2nd time was ok all before COVID 3rd time was during COVID order was not right scheduled pick up time arrived on time food was cold and wrong. This last time horrible ordered Texas fajitas for 2 no rice replace with fried beans told them pickup at 5:15 arrived 5:05 thought tobe early it would be hot I was wrong order was ready at 5:05 should have raise red flag on this but thought should be good to go got home 5 min drive COLD order was wrong again portions was small had 4 pieces of shrimp in a double order measured 3 tablespoons of beans. never again bill was $41.00 also ordered white cheese large came in small container would not recommend this place to know one. read more
