Took a break from cooking and headed to Los Agaves for dinner. The hubs had a chicken burrito, my step daughter had the chicken fajitas, and I had the much talked about Barilla Tacos. Food was wonderful! Everything came out hot and fresh. Everyone was practicing social distancing, and they had hand sanitizer on hand for their customers to use.

Fresh, Flavorful, and Cheap!! We were in Charleston for a work conference and this Mexican restaurant was about a block from our hotel. They were very busy when we arrived but never missed an opportunity to stop by and check on us. We were all craving a margarita. Get the jumbo -- just do it!! For $9, you really won't regret it. Our's were good and strong. They had a lot more flavor options than expected... mango, raspberry, peach, just to name a few. I ordered the chicken chimichangas with rice. The chicken was seasoned perfectly. It was very moist and flavorful. It wasn't as spicy as I like, but overall good flavor and texture. My total came out around $20. That's not bad at all. I would definitely stop by here again if I'm ever back in Charleston. Also - Make sure you stop and say hello to the donkey!!

Staying in Charleston, West Virginia and this place was in walking distance from the hotel. I love Mexican food so I definitely wanted to check it out and I'm glad I did. I loved the food. The chips and salsa were great. I ended up ordering the Fajitas Mexicana which came with steak, chicken, shrimp, and chorizo. It also came with rice, beans, sour cream, guac, lettuce and pico. It was a lot of food and it was only like $13. The service was fast and friendly. Food was great and great priced. Highly recommended

The food was good, wait staff friendly and short wait. I got Tampiqueña and was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the steak was. Really enjoyed how good the corn cheese quesadilla was and they accidentally slipped me an extra!

This is the place to be in South Charleston! I've been several times and the food never lets me down. Good food, good times.

They recently raised their prices. Two appetizers and two sodas was over $30. Some of my favorite dishes went up by 5 dollars.

Just your usual chain Mexican restaurant with lots of space inside. We were seated instantly and there was no wait on the chips and salsa (the best part). Our server was attentive and friendly. We got the guacamole mexican style which was so good. I ordered the fajitas tropicales (which also came with rice and beans) and my husband got the molcajete. Both came steaming hot and the portions were huge. I loved the addition of pineapple to my fajitas. My mango margarita hit the spot as well. Great dinner!

Restaurant is huge and even though it was quite busy, we were immediately seated. I had assumed it might be a bit slow since they were so busy. Not at all-I've never seen so many servers hustling so hard. Our chips and salsa were quickly dropped off while we studied the menu. Chips were warm and fresh and the salsa had a nice taste to it. We both opted for fajitas-one steak and one chicken. Both the steak and chicken were excellent in my opinion. Vegetables and meats had a nice tasting "simmer sauce" which produced great flavors. As I had mentioned the excellent service, drinks were never left empty. Also, this has never happened to me in a Mexican restaurant - the manager or owner was active on the floor and stopped by to insure or meal was good. It was better than good. A nice surprise finding Las Trancas.

Dripping this on the chips and my Mexican rice was my favorite part of the meal, Guacamole - the fresh diced tomatoes and red onion added crunch and flavor which I really enjoyed. Salsa - I'm a little torn on this. The salsa was fresh and flavorful but there is a different flavor here that I can't put my finger on that tasted different from other Charleston area Mexican restaurants of tried when in town. I also ordered the combination taco plate with Birria taco and chicken tinga. I wasn't expecting sour cream in the chicken tinga taco so I couldn't finish that. I tried to eat around to get the chicken but the sauce was not very good. This didn't taste like chicken tonga and I wouldn't order it again. The Birria taco also did not taste like Birria that I've had. This was more like beef roast on a taco with toppings. It wasn't bad and it wasn't good but it also didn't come with consume which was disappointing. The sides were rice and beans and while they were ok, I was expecting more flavor and authentic Mexican cheese instead of the plain shredded cheese on top. This was very, very Americanized Mexican food but I think they know their audience. Whatever you do, don't order a Margherita from here. I should've learned my lesson about Charleston area Mexican restaurants the last time I was in town but unfortunately I thought it was just the other restaurant down the block. I'm convinced they use grain alcohol or some other very cheap liquor in these in some of the Mexican restaurants in the area. The flavor was way off and was definitely not tequila. I only had this drink on a full stomach and it gave me a headache and nausea the next day.
