We had to wait for over ten minutes for our drink order and every time we tried to ask her she would hold up her index finger and tell us to wait. After seeing she served other tables that had sat down after us I had to aggressively ask again what was the hold up for several glasses of wine and to put in a food order. She was seemingly confused and after going to check she brought us our glasses of wine and was not apologetic whatsoever. The 2nd and last time I came here, we sat at an outside table and a cockroach was crawling on the table next to us so we notified a waiter. He killed the roach with a rag and then proceeded to wipe the table with the same rag, then wiped down every other table with the contaminated rag, no disinfectant was used. I got the Benedict (that comes with a side salad) + a separate order of fries and house salad with chicken skewers. The Benedict did not come with the green salad mentioned in the menu and was never brought to us even though we asked, and the waitress was not kind in answering any questions. Imagine you go to a Moroccan restaurant on two occasions within 3 months and each time you're told that the signature dish - chicken tagine - is unavailable. Now imagine further that the waiter brings you a bowl of gravy for the tagine (will speak on the authenticity in a momen) and you have to literally beg for a spoon to pour the sauce on your food. It's a back-and-forth because a waiter doesn't feel like grabbing a spoon for a food item that require a spoon. Go figure. And that's not counting the fact that gravy is just a cheap substitute for the spices they used to bring along with the dish. I guess the price of safron went up? As someone who once fell in love with this restaurant only to see it be raked over the coals by an awful change in management, I strongly recommend that you not eat here. read more

And they cook the tagine in the real tagine pots like the Moroccans do. Had a traumatic experience one night where two groups of Australians seated right outside our window started smoking, and the smoke was blowing into our food...(Who smokes anymore it's 2017??) An employee, who eventually became our server, brushed us off and said "I believe we are booked for the night" with an arrogant air. The hostess came up moments later and sat us immediately in one of the THREE open tables. The server spoke no words to us, I'm not exaggerating, the entire time we were there. He served 2 tables before us, came up behind us silently to take our order, dropped our food off silently, asked for no drinks, and took 15 minutes longer than he should have to drop off the check. The food was good but I believe a good restaurant is all about hospitality and treating people like they are in your own home. What a disappointment this restaurant was. I had such high hopes for it as I love Mediterranean cuisine. I came here with friends in the middle of the week. A warm summer night. The inside of the restaurant was hot. They had a dirty dan propped up on a turned over bucket by my table. Appetizing. What I didn't understand is that there are windows everywhere here and not one was open. We asked our waitress if the AC was out. She said "no, it's always hot like this". If we were a smaller bunch I would've left at that. Unfortunately we decided to stay. In addition to the steamy room the service was poor. More about that later. We were served warm water and then had to wait at least 20 minutes to receive our drink order. We started with several apps. -burrata (this was good, I would eat this again) -zucchini chips (these were ok. Mugger than expected and not very crispy) -watermelon salad (light and tasty) -octopus (this was ok. Felt slightly overcooked) After our long wait for the meal I received my meal, the fish of the day. This was grilled brazino. It couldn't have been more boring. The fish was flavorless. It came with spinach, also flavorless. I ordered a side of potatoes, which were good. I tasted my friends pasta with clams. The pasta was over cooked and it was way too spicy. After finishing our meal we waited 30 minutes, then had to ask for a dessert. We were provided with one menu for six. I had to ask a different waitress for more. Another 10 minutes go by and we order dessert, the churros and the chocolate almond cake. The waitress swings by and we ask for extra gelato (the ordered desserts were supposed to come with gelato we just wanted more. The waitress tells us their freezer is broken and they don't have gelato and they're replacing it with cut fruit. This would've been good information when we ordered. I had to run to a local ice cream shop to get ice cream. Oddly, a small amount of ice cream was served with the dessert. FYI, the churros were burnt. Twenty minutes later, we had to ask for the bill. Our waitress at this point stopped coming over. Of course, there was an issue with the credit card machine. They had to reboot they system to get it to work. Overall, I would never go back. Came here for lunch with coworkers and was pleasantly surprised. Usually its hard to find places that can accommodate for everyone's dietary needs. However there was a good selection of indulgent options(for me ), as well as healthy dishes for the workout fanatic and vegetarian/possibly vegan options. I got the beef torpedo pita with fried potatoes instead of salad and that is always a good decision because those potatoes were AMAZING. Whole potatoes were torn up into pieces instead of cut into fries, creating more surface area to crisp up while still maintaining fluffy chunky interiors. Sounds weird but trust me its good and I don't even like potatos that much. The pita was alright, meat was juicy and well seasoned but needed maybe more toppings like pickles and spice. Others got quinoa salad, the pomodoro pasta, fried halloumi and other sandwiches. Large portion sizes for a decent price and a nice cozy space, almost like a getaway with the fun colors and décor. I was truly disappointed with my experience here. My friend and I sat down at around 8:30pm. Our waiter was nowhere to be found so after a few minutes, we ordered from the hostess. I got a drink (the bees knees- pretty good) and then we ordered the zucchini chips and beef torpedo pita to share. 35 mins later, we asked where our food was (other tables who had arrived well after us were already eating). They said it would be out in 2 minutes. 10 minutes later, still nothing. We decided to cancel our order because we had somewhere else to be and a man (maybe the manager?) came up to us and said that "the zucchini chips have to be individually fried which is why it's taking so long" (WHAT?!) We confirmed that we wanted to cancel and right at that moment, the food comes out. The man with the food said "I'm sorry, the beef torpedo delayed your order." Again, WHAT?! Which is it??? With regard to the food- not good. The beef was so dry and the zucchini chips were soaked in oil. Our table was covered in napkins trying to get the grease off. Perhaps these items would've been better if they hadn't clearly been made in a rush. Bottom line is that they had very poor customer service. The only things they did quickly were getting us seated (not good to have so many empty tables on a Thursday night) and getting us the check! George, The king of bartending, can be found at RinTinTin. This was a great and random bar find with an amazing bar-keep running the ship. George's style is that of Tom Cruise from "Cocktail", but minus the 80's cheese. I must have watched this drink master make like 15 drinks in about 5 minutes; specialty shots, craft cocktails, a few gimlets, and all with perfect measurements. I tried my fiancé's vodka press and it was delicious! Now look, I know what you're thinking, "Vodka press?, not impressive", but instead of using Sprite or 7up George only added lime juice with a splash of Ginger Ale. So refreshing! This place seems like it belongs in Miami or Havana with it's bright white walls and "dancey" house music that rattles the bones. Need a non-fussy night cap spot? The cheese plate came with grapes, fresh figs, a small bowl of olives (we ordered the bowl of olives too not knowing the cheese plate came with them), and crackers. My fiancé loved his kebab and couscous and said this was one of his favorite restaurants that we've been to (for what it's worth he's also Turkish and usually is harder to impress when it comes to Mediterranean food). I'm taking a solid two stars off for the service. We were the only couple there. The other tables were single women or groups of women. Our male server paid zero attention to our table and spent our entire dinner chatting with girls at other tables. (The place wasn't swamped or very busy either. The bar was empty and we were maybe two of a total of ten patrons in the place at the time. More than half of the tables were empty. If it had been super busy I would absolutely understand if service was slow.) Finally a second server came and was helpful only after we flagged him down. We sat in the middle of the restaurant by a window and it was super drafty and cold, just an FYI. They do have the front area draped off by the door. Dress warmly. Overall, cute place, good food. On Saturday, March 18th, at 4:30 on a lovely afternoon, we were DISCRIMINATE against at RinTinTin; the hostess unfairly judged us and decided we were not the right profile for the establishment by refusing to give us a table. She was rude and abrasive, rolled her eyes, and acted annoyed because we didn't fit her profile as the customer she preferred to have sitting at the establishment. We were tourists to her, but because of her DISCRIMINATION and PROFILING, she didn't see two professional business owners; my husband is in real estate, and I own one of the most successful and awarded brand agencies in the midwest. She didn't see my sweet family, my beautiful daughter, who modeling agencies and art schools are courting--she saw a family, and families are not welcome at RinTinTin. After rolling her eyes for a second time and trying to discourage us with a 30-minute wait (ha, is 30 minutes a long wait?), she begrudgingly had me write my name down on a nonexistent list and told me she'd call me when a table was ready (there were open tables everywhere). 2 and a half hours later we received the call. I guess it was now dark enough to hide our beautiful family sitting in RinTinTin. What happens when an establishment refuses to seat someone because of their perceived ideas? Will a customer's skin be the wrong color, accent be offensive, or will they wear the wrong shoes? DISCRIMINATION is a slippery slope, and the hostess at RINTINTIN is part of all the ugliness the world is trying so hard to repair. I would suggest some hospitality training or maybe a class on kindness. I am proud of my beautiful family, and I'm sad that, for a second, I felt intimidated by you. I'm sad that you ruined my last night in New York and that you became the New York stereotype I didn't want to believe. I'm sorry we came to RinTinTin. I won't say that I will never go again. I always give a second chance because I'm a mom from the midwest, and we know the golden rule - you should treat others how you want to be treated. It's pretty simple; maybe you should give it a try. less than 1 star my friend and I dined here and gave a 20% tip my friend had her phone charging here and was only returned her phone and not her charger. As we were leaving The manager became extremely aggressive with us. I never raised my voice just told him I think he was handling women disrespectfully. The situation escalated between him and my friend but the manager then took both of us myself who was calm and standing aside and shoved us and punched us into the street into oncoming traffic. He then called the cops on us and said we were attacking him the NYPD showed up and was no help and the restaurant then protected the employee.
