Not great. I placed an order for hardwood flooring to be delivered. My initial interaction with staff at the service desk was great, but that was it. I received a call the day my order was to delivered telling me it was going to be delayed. On the day of delivery I did not receive a call so I called the store to get an estimated time frame so I could plan my day. The staff (Joe) would not give me a straight answer until I pressed him. I called up the bradford location to order a door. The guy who took my info was a bit surly. After he took all the info for the door he said "Let me work up a quote". I responded " OK do you want to call me back". His response " Well that's why I took your phone #" There was a few seconds of silence I said OK and he hung up. 3 days went by no reply. I ended up going to Home Depot and ordered my door on the spot. I try and shop local businesses even if they are a bit more expensive but if they don't want my money then ok. read more

well for starts it's still not complete because they delivered the wrong items+ missing items and now they are ignoring me so they don't have to remedy the situation. I'm putting a fraud charge on my cc payment as they are purposely not communicating so they can try and steal from me. There is NO other explanation that a customer support email and phone line can't get the job done in 4 business days(meaning reply at least). Local grown and raise individual that is absolutely baffled by how bad rings end has gotten... almost sleezy type strategies and business.. I have never written a review before, but a truly terrible customer service experience at Ring's End Darien compelled me to write this one. We just purchased a new home, and ordered 4 French doors and accompanying hardware from Ring's End to go in the home. Time was of the essence, as we were juggling multiple projects and had a contractor at the home to install the doors. Ring's End delivered the wrong product to my house THREE separate times. It's now a week after the originally scheduled delivery date, and I still don't have all the products I purchased. First, they delivered some metal basement doors that in no way resembled the glass-paned interior wood French doors I ordered. The hardware I ordered also didn't arrive, and had to be tracked down. After I called to complain, they returned the next day to replace the metal doors with 4 French doors--only one of them was the wrong size. In their next failed attempt, they then replaced that wrong door with another wrong door... of exactly the same size (ie. not matching the others). I'm told they will be delivering the correct door today, but I'll believe it when I see it. It's clear to me that their delivery team is paying next to no attention to what they are dropping off at homes. Throughout this ordeal, I have wasted hours of my time calling Ring's End and trying to find the right person to help me, leaving messages that are never returned, and waiting on hold. We've also lost valuable time with our contractor, who was supposed to be installing these doors and is now behind schedule. I let the Ring's End employee I spoke to know how unacceptable this has been and asked for a discount on my order, but was told there was nothing they could do. I most certainly will not be shopping here again. read more

I had a dismal and unpleasant customer experience in the Rings End Darien kitchen showroom. I even reached out to their management and to date have not heard back. Upon walking into the showroom not one out of the three employees sitting there raised their heads nor said hello. I inquired with one man saying that we called and were told by a woman that we could stop by. His reply "Well, there's only one woman here." He pointed over to her, visibly seen, but she kept her head down and didn't even acknowledge our presence. At this point, feeling quite unwelcome, we still wanted to take a look at the cabinet range and walked around the showroom for about 5-8 more minutes. Not ONCE in that time did anyone ask to help, ask what we were looking for, or acknowledge that we were there, kitchen drawings in hand, and looking to get a quote/give our business to your store. We would have even been okay with an "oh this isn't a great time do you want to set an appointment for another day." Quite frustrated, we walked out. I let a (kind) woman at the checkout register briefly know about our bleak and discouraging experience I understand we are living through a pandemic and that people may be going through their own personal struggles, however the staff in the Rings End kitchen showroom need a bit of an education when it comes to social graces and basic, affable customer service. This place is refreshing in comparison to Home Depot or Lowes. The customer service is very good in the "hardware" and paint section. It's definitely more pricey. The kitchen / design center however was an off experience. Hub and I walked in and no one acknowledged us. We could have been naked. There was someone at the front - who didn't greet us, and as we made our way around to look at different cabinetry, etc we walked by 3 other people sitting at desks working. All 3 of them looked at us- none of them made eye contact or felt compelled to say hello. So...we won't be working with Rings end for any Reno work. read more

Needed a $1.50 nylon bushing for an Andersen French Door. Hardly an order that will make a big impact on their bottom line, but they took the time to track down the right part. Then they found some that were left over from a previous order in a drawer that were left over from a previous shipment. Fantastic selection of products and old-fashioned (great) customer service. Can't recommend them more highly. read more

Unfortunately our fence man installed our fence using 5" x 5" 10 foot cedar posts. We had to replace one post and went to Ring's End's Source Book and on-line to check prices. To make sure that we didn't "waste our time" we called the Darien store prior to our 15 minute drive. Item CP510 was listed as $38.95 but when we arrived at the store, the sales person told us that the price was $47.95, an increase of $9.00 or 23%!!! When asked why the change in price, we were told that perhaps we had an old Source Book. However, the Source Book with the $38.95 price was from the current book on the counter------just a few feet from the salesperson! In addition, the on-line price of $38.95 was available before our trip to the store. When we told this to the salesperson, we were told the price change ("all prices subject to change") was due to the fact that the posts came from Canada and the increase was due to terrorism. We called the Darien store to check inventory of 6 cedar post caps C5FPC and were told that 7 were in stock. When we purchased the items (you pay before you get the items), the 6 caps not in stock. In other words, they rang up as if they were in stock but were not. The person in the warehouse shifted through boxes with us and finally called the sales people to say that there were none in stock and that we should get a refund. NOTE: The price difference. If you go to Home Depot, Loews or any other store, they will honor the price listed in their flyers, books, and on-line website. Not Ring's End. This is why we prefer not to shop here unless it's absolutely necessary. read more

I see other reviewers saying good service is reserved for contractors. False. I am a contractor and had an experience today that was on par with an encounter you'd have with a disgruntled Home Depot employee. I called this morning simply to receive a quote on some fencing materials. Being this was my first order, I had some questions regarding delivery policy, contractor pricing and setting up an account. The salesman was gruff, curt and overtly rude. Many of my questions were met with long pauses or condescending chuckles and one word answers. I even asked at one point in the conversation, "why are you speaking to me like I'm stupid? I'm simply asking questions." This was of course met with an uncomfortable ten second silence where I was fairly certain the salesman was considering hanging up on me or cursing me or both. I guess these guys are so big they can afford to turn away contractor accounts with their poor attitude and condescending remarks. No thanks. You're not the only show in town. I'll stick to Wayside Lumber in bay shore LI. read more

Bought 5 fence panels last year and need to add 4 more. RE have been out of stock for a year and have no idea when they will be back in stock. The Source Book for 20-21 clearly states that all items on the pages are stock items. Now the sales guy tells me that these are special order. Will never shop here again, nor allow my contractor to do so for my projects. There are plenty of choices in this area, do yourself a favor, look elsewhere. read more

After a bad experience at Ring's End in Stamford, I went to the one in Darien and it was like night and day. First of all, they are doing a careful job of making sure that the store is not too full. The young man greeted me at the door pleasantly and checked to make sure the paint section wasn't full. At every step of the way, people asked me if I needed help or offered recommendations on what paint I needed and why. One of the workers even walked me out to my car to help me with the paint. It was just a really great customer service experience and I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

I use RE to deliver building/gardening supplies. I am a homeowner, not a business but have a large house/property. RE is competitive in price and always is able to work with my steep driveway. Never disappointed in their delivery service. They know how to work the back roads/hood. Big box stores just dont have this edge. read more

Wow, this place has a great reputation and I now wonder why. I called for windows. Left a message for Al, the window guy. Never got a call back. I called again. Talked to the window guy, Al. He told me that they could do what I needed-no problem. Said his team does this stuff all the time. The windows needed to be re-hung he said. I needed to call back to book it. Left a message. He never returned my call. Called back and he returned my call. I relayed the same needs. He told me a TOTALLY different story about how they need to be replaced etc (still without seeing them). He told me he would talk to his team and call me back. Time went by, 4 days, and no call back. Tonight I got a call from MAS Contractor who says that Rings End handed out my personal contact information so that they could do the work. I wanted a consult on some windows. Instead they've made this something that it is not at all and they shared my contact information without asking. So unprofessional. I have a call into management. Rings End has poor service from the CEO on down to the over the counter employees. I went so far as writing a letter to the CEO. He never answered. Sent a 2nd letter....no response. Usually when the head of a company is incompetent in his handling of customer service, it reflects down to the rest of the employees. That is certainly the case with Ring's End. And as another reviewer commented, the best customer service comes from the fellow running the paint dept. in their Lewisboro store. The CEO should be dumped and replaced with someone who understands how important customer service really is! The C.E.O. does not have a clue. A trained circus monkey can do better than current Ring's End management. read more

Rude salesperson. It's obvious that the sales help think that they're too good to be working there and should be a CEO for some large fortune 500 company. I was standing in an empty line with a question when a sales person barked at me that he was waiting on someone else and to get out of the line. In fact, the people he was waiting on had wandered off a few feet so there's no way to tell they were in line. He was very rude and I go to that store a lot and have experienced more rude sales people than not. read more

Decent quality products. Terrible terrible service. Highest prices you can find. Literally the highest. Prices would be forgiven if they had the service to match. But they don't. Guys behind the counter in the front act like they are disinterested CEOs of local Fortune 500 companies doing a charity day. Extremely arrogant, act like they are doing you a favor to speak with you, and there seems to be an inside joke that they aren't sharing. Came here to look at shutters and buy a part for a door for whom they a reseller. Will continue to shop at Home Depot, Amazon, online, local hardware store etc instead. read more

Do you want to wander aimlessly in a noisy warehouse looking for things, find empty shelf spaces and leave stressed out and aggravated? Then you know where to go. If you want friendly service and ease of shopping, then you go to Rings End. You will save time and get far better quality products than at "the other place". You will probably spend a little more, but for someone like me who has limited patience when shopping for home products then this is a great place. I am a senior citizen with an 80 year old house, there is always something that needs fixing and is usually no longer available. Rings End has always been there to help! Not only have they replaced my kitchen counters and kitchen hardware in the past, as well as supplying a new outdoor lamp posts and trim, but they have been invaluable with paint selection and application. This time I just wanted to give a special shout out to Bernie. I broke the arm of my ceiling fan cleaning it too vigorously and I did not want to have to replace the fan. I went to three different stores and the only replacement arms I could find did not match the holes in the original blade. I took both to Rings End and Bernie graciously drilled several new holes for me and screwed in the replacement arm all at no charge!!! Where can you get that kind of service anymore? Wow! Always a wonderful experience! Our Contractor (Castleberry) directed us to Rings End for many of our supply choices. Where ever the location, we always get what we need & we need a lot considering we're in the middle of remodeling an entire 3 story home. I'm the "wife-designer" and I don't know what I would do without the extra help of Jeremy in the paint department! He is so generous, talented & creative! We are just so grateful. I feel confident my new "design" job will not run into any major problems. Use Jeremy & Rings End if you need complete Design help or parts of or advice, confirmation, construction supplies, doors, hardware, moldings, paint, etc... I showed him my plans, told him my taste preferences and he picked our paint colors, to perfection. We've also asked him important design questions in every area of the home and his advice has always been smart, out of the box & exciting. read more

The Darien store is great, and I find the staff are typically very helpful in helping to work through the necessary steps and equipment for various home DIY projects. Time permitting of course, and sometimes Ring's End does get very busy. And for good reason - this is a really excellent hardware store and we are lucky to have it in Fairfield County. read more

My experience here was what I would have expected from Home Depot or one of the big chain stores. Cabinets were not great quality, were not delivered as promised and came damaged. Took 3 additional weeks to get replacement cabinets. Designer tried to charge more than the original order to boot! Store manager was my only salvation. If I had to do it again, I would just go to one of the chain stores if I want stock cabinets. I did not get the service I expected and it delayed my kitchen renovations by a month. read more

I find it interesting that the best reviews on this business are coming from women (of which I am one.) Yes, at times the staff's attitude might seem a bit aloof. They certainly don't have a sense of humor (but perhaps they don't find any of my jokes funny?) HOWEVER, these guys and gals really know their stuff (especially when compared to the friendly but unknowledgeable staffers at Home Depot and Lowe's.) I am not a contractor, nor anyone in the field of construction, -just a housewife- but Rings End people have certainly helped me a lot. This summer I took on a 4-month gut renovation of my entire first floor. Of course, I used an architect and fantastic general contractor all along the way but the GC took me on a couple of his field trips and intro'd me to Rings End. They treated him the same way so it must be the way they talk to all their customers- they use words sparingly and never crack a smile, but what they say is very relevant and To.The.Point. So I learned to get past the attitude and listen to what they were saying rather than HOW they were saying it. Well now I have a complete basement re-do to do (after a flood) and have decided to become my own GC for this project. I am gifting my hubby with his dream Man Cave. Yup, floor-to-ceiling solid cherry walls, wine cellar, slate floor, leather club seating, the works! Rings End has been super-helpful pointing me to various suppliers for items they don't even carry (like the National Gypsum purple board) as well as help for the items they do and website(s) for DIY spray foam, underlayment, grout comparisons, etc. They probably hate answering dumb questions from contractor-wanna-be's like myself but they certainly have given me valuable answers that are -so far- saving me thousands of dollars. I am much more able to make intelligent and money-saving decisions when speaking with my carpenter, electrician, plumber, and tile guy, all of whom are very impressed with my new fund of knowledge. They have a very good eye for color, know the current trends, will visit your house (for a reasonable fee), and can help you create the right look -- to match your unique taste, or refresh for resale. The sales service is seriously lacking here. I went to buy some products, and agreed for my builder to pick them up. I got a quote, as I need to check the sizes, quantities. Called back and updated the quote, then paid over the phone. They said the builder just needs to give my name at pick up. My builder is there and they won't give it to him- hands the phone over to the salesperson who starts yelling at me ' Ma'm he needs the white slip to get it- I only told you 100 times when you were here'. Well, firstly I didn't have a paid slip since I ordered on the phone and bought from another person. This guy then starts arguing that I bought from him, that is a lie, that I didn't buy from another person, and unless I come over- the builder gets 'nothing'. I asked to speak with a manager, who oddly puts me on speaker. We are trying to resolve it, and the sales guy is in the background saying really rude things. Finally, the manager realizes that I am correct, that when ordering on the phone, this rule is different. However, no apologies when they realize they screwed up, and act like they are doing me a favor giving me my supplies. read more

We have Anderson casement Windows. The crank that opens the window stripped so the window had a hard time winding open and wouldn't close unless someone pulled it shut at the same time as it was winding. It was a $30 part. We didn't want to replace the whole window so we called Rings End to fix it which was a nightmare. We called mid May on a Monday. They called us back to schedule an appointment Friday. The appointment was for June 5th. You pay $100 just so they would come out and assess the situation. They told us they would order The parts and schedule the next appointment. We then had to prepay for the next service and the parts for the two windows. We paid $153. I had to call them several times and email. Called a manager and finally got a call back that the part was coming July 2nd. Called back July 2nd at 2:00pm and they said the part came in and would call me to schedule an appointment. I called them back July 3rd saying i was going to need my money back and they finally scheduled me for July 5th. All said and done it took almost two months for them to handle the situation. I had to keep calling them. The part took over a month to come in. All the while i prepaid for a service i was scared i wasn't going to even get. STAY AWAY. Buyers beware. Rings end should stick with selling product and stay away from trying to be in the service industry. read more

I don't understand this store at all. For general hardware items that you just go to pick up and buy on the spot hey have very high quality products and a well-edited selection, but absolutely no follow up on special or custom orders. I went about 6 months ago to purchase window treatments and got lovely customer service and picked out absolutely beautiful treatments that I was very excited about. The next step was to have someone come to my house to take measurements and place the order, so I was told I would hear from them in a few days to schedule. A few days went by and I followed up and was told again, that someone would be calling me to schedule an appointment to measure in a few days. After more than 2 weeks went by with no calls from the sales person or installer, I finally went to another store who had someone out to measure and place the order for the exact same product the next day. As an added bonus this other store had a better price AND free installation and measuring (which Ring's End did not). I was very surprised that after helping me make my selection they didn't put any time or energy into actually closing the sale and placing the order. I figured this was a one-off situation so I went back to look into ordering a vanity for my bathroom and the same thing happened. I spent a while with a designer picking out a couple of options to get prices on, and haven't heard anything. I sent an e-mail to follow up and still haven't heard anything. It's just very strange... How do they make money if they don't follow up with people who want to buy things? read more
