While this isn't my absolute favorite tacos around, I do prefer this location over Casa Villa's other Stamford restaurant. The ambiance here is much nicer, with tasteful decor and a great outdoor patio that's perfect for enjoying a meal when the weather is nice. My only real complaint was the salsa. I'm a fan of traditional salsa verde, and their creamy version just wasn't for me. Other than that, the food was good, the vibe was welcoming, and the Tuesday special made it an even better value. You can feel the pride behind the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The owners, Griselda and Rafael, were incredibly kind and helpful. I don't eat meat, and they immediately listened to what I was looking for and recommended the shrimp in garlic sauce. I've had this dish at a lot of Central American and Latin restaurants, and this was easily one of the richest, most flavorful versions I've ever had. The garlic sauce had so much depth, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The tostones were also outstanding. My wife loves tostones, so we've had them plenty of times, and these were some of the freshest and best we've had, perfectly salted, crisp, and the plantain was cooked exactly right. Not mushy, not hard, just perfect. Their fresh juices were also incredible and absolutely worth ordering. The vibe of the restaurant is a huge part of the experience. It feels authentic, lively, and welcoming, and even the artwork inside and outside is worth stopping to see. She wanted flour tortilla instead of corn, the took a wrap and cut it in half to accommodate. In the menu it did not list crema as an ingredient in the bistek tacos, but my coworker seen the lady squirt some all over the meat while it was cooking. Disappointedly she had to cancel her order. When I explained to the cook, she can't consume dairy, she replied "she should have told me before" Some people are lactose intolerant, cooks shouldn't add ingredients not listed on the menu. I still purchased my food and had no complaints about it; however, due to this incident, we will not be coming here again.
