I don't eat meat, and they immediately listened to what I was looking for and recommended the shrimp in garlic sauce. I've had this dish at a lot of Central American and Latin restaurants, and this was easily one of the richest, most flavorful versions I've ever had. The garlic sauce had so much depth, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The tostones were also outstanding. My wife loves tostones, so we've had them plenty of times, and these were some of the freshest and best we've had, perfectly salted, crisp, and the plantain was cooked exactly right. Not mushy, not hard, just perfect. Their fresh juices were also incredible and absolutely worth ordering. The vibe of the restaurant is a huge part of the experience. It feels authentic, lively, and welcoming, and even the artwork inside and outside is worth stopping to see. The restaurant was busy with people coming in for what looked like buffet-style Dominican food, but my dish was cooked fresh in the back and still came out super fast. Another moment that stood out was when I noticed there were no empanadas de queso left.
