Ceviche Acuario
aatiq T.

Tried a Peruvian restaurant for the first time. I ordered the ceviche and a pisco drink. The drink was really good and refreshing. The ceviche is made in-house; I'm not exactly sure how it's supposed to taste, but it wasn't really my favorite. The server was friendly and attentive. I sat at the bar, and the place seemed very busy. It's a little on the expensive side, but overall it had a nice atmosphere.

ESPRESSO MARTINI

I ordered the Peruvian-Style Seafood Fried Rice which was a large portion! It was so delicious and well-seasoned with plenty of seafood! We also ordered the Peruvian-Style Rotisserie Chicken, which was so juicy, tender and flavorful. I selected the salad and fries as my sides, and that homemade salad dressing was phenomenal. Their Aji sauce is probably the best I've ever had in my life. If they sold it in a bottle, I would buy it all the time! I also had an espresso martini, which the bartender executed perfectly! The staff was attentive, and the restaurant is spacious enough to accommodate many guests comfortably. There were a few birthday's celebrations going on and the staff came out to sing quite a few times. I highly recommend Acuario Stamford.

Chicharron de Pescado (Fish Fritters)

As many times as I've been here I never thought to write a review. Well that changes today! Decor Clean, dim, fairly small/intimate. It's not so small that you can't move around but during peak hours you may be shoulder to shoulder with another party. BUT if you get there at a decent time you should be good with space. Service Everyone is friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. No complaints here. Food No exaggeration, but I can't remember a time when I had a bad order or something that I wouldn't order again. Here are some of my favorite items: Chaufa - fried rice with your choice of protein. Anything from chicken, pork, fish, and steak. They have it all...and it's all good! Fish Chunks - lightly fried, crispy, seasoned perfectly! Lomos - if you're looking for a hearty meal that will either put you to bed (IMMEDIATELY!) or provide you with a leftover meal for the next day...this is it. I highly recommend upgrading to the Cadillac Lomo which uses filet cuts of steak *chefs kiss* Half or Whole Chicken - if you're looking for something simple. Perfectly seasoned, crispy where it needs to be, and not a dry piece to be found! I'll get that with a side of veggies (which are banging) and I'm straight. Pisco Sour - let me say that the sangrias are good but the Pisco Sour is my 100% go to. I can't even really describe it but trust me...it's good! That's all for my recommendations but honestly I don't think you can make a bad pick even if you don't choose something I detailed above. Also, if you decide to dine in they bring you the warm toasted bread with that Aji Sauce that might as well be liquid gold! Misc. Acuario is consistent with great service and an Aji sauce that will change your life. Until next time...

Papa a la Huancaina (Left), Tostones Appetizer (Right)

"Some lunches surprise you. Others quietly raise your standards." We came to Acuario for Restaurant Week, and it felt like one of those rare moments where value and quality meet without compromise. For starters, we had the tostones and the Papa Yuca appetizer. The tostones were crisp and golden with a soft center, paired with salsa criolla and garlic sauce that added brightness and depth. The Papa Yuca was comforting and rich, coated in a creamy sauce that felt balanced rather than heavy. Both dishes tasted intentional, not like scaled back lunch specials. They also brought complimentary bread with aji verde, and that sauce deserves its own recognition. Fresh, herb forward, and slightly spicy, it was incredibly addictive and elevated everything it touched. For the main, we ordered the lomo saltado, and it easily stood out. The beef was tender, the onions and tomatoes were sautéed just right, and the sauce carried bold flavor without overwhelming the plate. The fries held their texture under the sauce, and the rice brought everything together. It may honestly be the best lomo saltado in Stamford. Service was warm and attentive. Even during Restaurant Week, we never felt rushed. Staff checked in thoughtfully and kept the experience smooth from start to finish. The ambiance added to the experience. The space feels welcoming and lively without being chaotic. It has a comfortable neighborhood energy, the kind of place where you can enjoy a relaxed lunch but still feel like you are somewhere special. Acuario delivered on food, service, and atmosphere. Five stars without hesitation.

Happy Hour Menu

I have been here on several occasions. Today we came for Happy Hour. Acuario has a great Happy Hour menu with a lot of choices. The warm bread with the green sauce is complimentary. We ordered the chicken wings, lomo Saltado and the chaufa carne. The wings were okay, just fried hard and served with blue cheese on the side. I was expecting some type of sauce but it was plain. The lomo saltado was really good and the portion size was enough to share. The same with the chaufa carne, seasoned well and plentiful. There were a lot of choices for the drinks. We ordered the Sangria and Margarita. The sangria was great, wasn't too sweet and had a nice punch to it. The margarita was pretty good too, a nice blend and not too sour. Acuario is definitely an affordable Happy Hour with a great selection.

Lomo Saltado

The Lomo Saltado was bussin ya dig. The portion is plentiful, and you actually get more than what you pay for. It's very fresh and I love the long grain rice. The atmosphere is nice and clean and it's like you're at a Fiesta while waiting for your food. yummy for my finicky tummy. The server was very pleasant as well, that placed my order.

Service ambiance food was great went for restaurant week and it was a good choice to celebrate my friends birthday definitely will go again

Great place, we came here in the summer months, great place to enjoy a meal. Will say the Lomo is ok but the service is great!

What bland horrible food! No salt and no flavor at all. Terrible service, and the tip is already included in the bill. Never again!

The restaurant is a very modern tavern that gives off a very social feel. Ambiance rate 6.5/10. My friends and I ordered... 1. Wild Mushroom Scramble: This dish was great! The toasted bread smeared with a truffle cream was delicious! However, the truffle flavor was faint, so I'd recommend asking for truffle aioli on the side which essentially elevated its overall taste. Rate 8/10. - Side of French Fries: These were okay since they could've been crispier. Rate 6/10. 2. Chocolate Babka French Toast: This was a nice sweet dish! However, it lacked berry compote, and the bread itself was soggy on the bottom which was upsetting. Rate 7/10. 3. Steak and Eggs: This dish was yummy! The eggs were perfectly runny, and the chimichurri was good! Unfortunately, the hanger steak was cooked almost well done rather than medium rare which was what I asked for. Rate 7/10. The staff were friendly and the service was moderately quick. Service/staff rate: 7/10. Overall, this casual establishment is a nice place to hangout and enjoy a nice Sunday brunch.

From the moment we walked in, the hospitality from the staff, and chef made us feel right at home. We started drinks with a Strawberry Cosmo and a Paloma Spritz. Both refreshing and dangerously strong in the best way possible. For apps we came for the Crispy Duck on Sushi Rice, and as someone who usually scared to eat duck, this completely changed my mind. The duck was unbelievably crispy, similar to crispy prosciutto, and paired perfectly with their special sauce. We also had to do the Crab Cake was another standout, especially with the house-made Green Goddess dressing. The chef even came out to explain how he prepares the sauce, which made the experience feel much more special. For the entrees, we ordered the Linguine Fra Diavolo, loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp and the perfect amount of spice, alongside the Steak & Chips finished with a truffle vinaigrette. Somehow, every single dish just kept getting better. And because we clearly hadn't eaten enough, we had to try the Bacon Mac & Cheese Balls with smoked tomato sauce. I honestly could've eaten an entire plate of those. To end our meal, the chef surprised us with his Duck Egg Brownie, and it was one of the softest, fudgiest brownies I've ever had. A 2 hour train ride sounds crazy... but Flinders Lane made it absolutely worth the trip. I can't wait to come back to try the kangaroo!

Definitely appreciate the staff recommendations on portion sizes, plates to share for the table, and wine pairings. Meanwhile some white diners came in, and they hurriedly ushered them smiling to a table. Didn't give us menus (but gave menus to all diners that came in after us) until I flagged someone down for them. I watched them give complimentary bread and sauce to every other table except ours. I had to interrupt one waiter to ask about it and he shrugged me off, not even stopping to look at me, and muttered he'd get it. He got us bread but not the sauce, I had to ask him if it comes with the bread he said no. Later I asked another diner if it was complimentary, he said yes. It's unbelievable, we spent more than 100$ here to be treated like beggars. I would suggest any POC stay away; we were made to feel incredibly unwelcome and uncomfortable. On the other hand, the food was barely mid. The veal was so tough it was like eating rubber. In the end we couldn't finish it because it just wasn't good. I am not even sure if perhaps on purpose they gave us expired food because afterwards my friend and I both got upset stomachs. If you must be in Stamford you should take your business elsewhere, perhaps dont support a racist establishment.
