One dish I knew I had to have while back in town was Lomo Saltado - and Viva absolutely delivered. The dish was exceptional, with authentic flavors and a depth that made every bite memorable. I enjoyed the meal as much as I enjoyed being back in town. The service was excellent, and the experience was also a good reminder that I need to make more progress with my Spanish. read more

I like Lomo Saltado, and this place makes a good lomo the fries are crispy and the meat is delicious, the service is ok depending on if you order at a busy time or not. and the restaurant is calm and slow ambiance for dinner. read more

Had the Lomo Saltado as takeout, but still so good. Even as take out, the steak was not chewy, the mixture of texture of the tomatoes, onions, and potatoes was just right. They're generous with their protein in comparison to other lomo's I've had in the past. The ají (green sauce) is a must.... Must get extra.... Even if they charge me more because..... it's just a must! It is a much smaller location so expect longer wait times if ordering take out, but a non issue for our order tonight. read more

I'm the only Afro American in the place. They said hI to every Spanish person and asked them what they wanted. The two waitress at the counter never said anything or looked at me. The asked the Spanish guy who came in after me what he ordered first. He said this lady was here first take her. As I was waiting for my order a different Spanish guy pickup his order, but before leaving he wanted extra sauce. He was willing to pay for it, but the nasty waitress so no go ahead. Well when my order came I wanted extra sauce. The nasty waitress said I had to pay $2.00 extra. Those waitress are PREJUDICE (Prejuicio). I will never go back. I only went there because "Acuario Restaurant Stamford CT" was closed which the food is ten times better and the waitress are much nicer. read more

The portion size for the pollo Saltado was huge. They include a decent amount of peppers and onions and serve the rice on the side. It was tasty but seemed like there was so much sodium. The aji sauce was not spicey at all (part of what makes the dish so yummy) and tasted similar to mayonnaise. Good value for the cost. Decent food. Probably won't get the pollo Saltado again. read more

Favorite Peruvian cuisine restaurant! The food is consistently delicious and flavorful; served in hearty portions. Chaufa, calamares fritos, lomo saltaldo and tallarines verdes are the go-to dishes for my family. It's a small restaurant space with a lot of hustle and bustle, but because of it, you know the food is fresh whether you dine-in or order take out. Try this hidden treasure, you won't be disappointed. read more

Lousy service - they claimed they were out of tap water, left place, which was pretty empty, they lost customers for the last 9 years, seems as something is profoundly wrong - a new inexperienced owner bankrupting the place ? Very sad experience after so many years. read more

The place is quite small. When I walked in at 4pm on Saturday, they were packed with 3 reserved tables by the entrance. I waited a bit to get seated since all the waiters were busy to notice. But once I was seated, I found that the service was good and fast, servers were friendly and attentive. Food also came out very quickly. In spite of being tucked away, this place is very popular. The whole time I was dining there, their phone didn't really stop ringing either from people ordering takeout. The complimentary bread was enjoyable with their delicious aji dipping sauce. I got their Bistec a lo Pobre. I knew that the portion was going to be big but when it came to the table I was still very surprised to see how much food was on the plate. It could easily feed 2-3 people. Came with 2 pepper steak, 2 fried eggs, fries, sweet plantains, salad, and I requested a subtitute of their yellow rice instead of white rice. I have never tried Peruvian food before so I have nothing to compare it to but I did find the food are just okay -- but I do like how the plantains added flavor to the dish and I do like the yellow rice. For how much food you got, $16 is such a steal. Couldn't finish more than half of my plate so I had to get a doggybag. I was so full and I imagine that is probably how a python feels after swallowing an entire cow. Would love to try their other dishes like their chaufas or their Arroz Con Mariscos next time I visit Stamford area again. read more

We arrived at 6:30 and had to finally ask to take out they took so long! Writing this at 8:30. Food might be good, but we will never go to eat in. Take out gets preference ... or apparently (as our server told us) if you order a chicken dish that is already prepared you get served before others. I upgraded my dish to "better quality" meat which was tough and dry. read more

This place simply is the best restaurant that I have ever been to during the past years. The ahi sauce was the one of a kind. All the food i got here was just simply amazing - i could not stop eating. No many words are needed. Nothing is complex here. Just simply amazingly delicious! I am still craving what I had there: seafood fried rice, Peruvian lo mein noodles, and mussel app. read more

I have gone to Viva several times. The lomo saltado at this location is hands down the best lomo I have ever eaten. On top of the lomo, their ahi sauce is amazing. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. The only knock is that its a little expensive for what it is but I will happily return! read more

This was my first experience eating Peruvian food and it was amazing! I've been missing out. We went on a Tuesday night and about 50% of the restaurant was filled. The service was great as all of the waitresses worked together to make sure our needs were met. I don't remember exactly what the dishes we ordered were called but both were phenomenal (see picture). You also get bread with this delicious white sauce that is somewhat spicy. Very unhealthy meal as my plate had French fries, steak, peppers, onions, and rice but amazingly tasteful! The portions were huge that I had enough for lunch the next day! I believe our meal with tip was between $35-$40 total for 2 people; so fairly cheap! Overall I highly recommend and can't wait to go back! read more

They add automatically 20% tip that's why They don't care about the service Even the service suck's. Food is food I can't lie, but the service is not that goos. Bring you own water, because that's the only restaurant In Stamford that denied tap water. read more

This would have to be my number 1 choice in lomo saltado in Stamford. The service is fast - both wait staff and the amount of time for the food to come out. Their green sauce is one of the best and I plop copious amounts of it in my dish. It's the right amount of spice and flavor. Other places sometimes have it too spicy or the consistency is too thick. If I lived closer to the cove area, I'd probably order from Viva on the daily. read more

This place was really good! From the salchipapas to main course. I came with 10 people and as we started eating this place got really packed and really fast. Previously when this place was called Fiesta, it was pretty good. But since it's become Viva, it's definitely gotten better. I don't want to exaggerate, but this place is honestly so delicious that I feel like a could eat here every day. We order from here for work occasionally and it's perfect every time. The restaurant itself runs like a well oiled machine. I feel like a Viva evangelist, I only have good things to say about the place! Whatever you order will be delicious, I can almost guarantee it since I've tried almost everything on the menu the staff is awesome, and here also is a special shoutout to Carlos who dealt with us today - he's great!! read more

Visiting Stamford, I thought it was a great idea to enjoy lunch at Viva this past weekend because I mean you can't go wrong with Peruvian food, right? Sadly, my guest and I weren't very satisfied with our recent visit. The restaurant sits on the main street of Shippan and it was extremely useful that there was parking available right away. Upon entering we were seated almost immediately and ordered a typical Lomo Saltado, Pollo Saltado and an order of the Pollo ala Brasa which wasn't available because we were told they were completely out. No big deal, we opted for another Lomo instead... The staff were all very friendly and we were often checked on to see if our table was fine. The warm pieces of bread with a side of the Aji Sauce made a great impression as we waited for our food. The wait was a bit long but we made the best of it in the meantime. Once the food arrived we all enjoyed ourselves but we came to an agreement that this wasn't the best Peruvian food we had tasted. My personal opinion, I felt like it lacked a lot of flavor, a big NO NO whenever having a Lomo/Pollo Saltado. However, the food is decent and the portions are fair for the prices BUT in the future if I'm ever craving some Peruvian food again I'll most likely opt in for another Peruvian establishment. Sorry Viva! read more

My wife being from Peru, we are always in a search for good Peruvian food. We found Viva while living in Stamford. The service is always excellent, especially Elizabeth. The food is dependably very good and sometimes knock you socks off amazing. You cant go wrong with their lomo saltado or bistec a lo pobre. Their ceviche is also surprisingly good considering they are not primarily a cevicheria (typical a requirement for good peruvian seafood). Lastly their aji is delicious (the yellow/green sauce) and pairs well with nearly all of their dishes. Overall this is a good solid Peruvian restaurant... ENJOY!! read more

We purchased two fish dinners they were absolutely terrible. No seasoning the red snapper was dry. They claim that they offer three sizes but they never told me when I placed the order. The manager told me that she only had large and that's why she gave me a $28.00 dry fish that was not fresh. This is the first time that my fish was absolutely nasty, no flavor and dry. And the fish had so many little bones I have one caught in my throat. The one downtown Stamford is terrible they must of brought the Shippan restaurant as well. I will not be going back. read more
