Chaufa cammarones
CZar I.

Favorite Peruvian cuisine restaurant! The food is consistently delicious and flavorful; served in hearty portions. Chaufa, calamares fritos, lomo saltaldo and tallarines verdes are the go-to dishes for my family. It's a small restaurant space with a lot of hustle and bustle, but because of it, you know the food is fresh whether you dine-in or order take out. Try this hidden treasure, you won't be disappointed.

This waitress is the best in the world, without a doubt I have no complaints the food is super delicious the attention of MiMi makes you feel welcome! if you are hungry ask for MiMi she will exceed your expectations.!

bistec a lo pobre (close up)

The place is quite small. When I walked in at 4pm on Saturday, they were packed with 3 reserved tables by the entrance. I waited a bit to get seated since all the waiters were busy to notice. But once I was seated, I found that the service was good and fast, servers were friendly and attentive. Food also came out very quickly. In spite of being tucked away, this place is very popular. The whole time I was dining there, their phone didn't really stop ringing either from people ordering takeout. The complimentary bread was enjoyable with their delicious aji dipping sauce. I got their Bistec a lo Pobre. I knew that the portion was going to be big but when it came to the table I was still very surprised to see how much food was on the plate. It could easily feed 2-3 people. Came with 2 pepper steak, 2 fried eggs, fries, sweet plantains, salad, and I requested a subtitute of their yellow rice instead of white rice. I have never tried Peruvian food before so I have nothing to compare it to but I did find the food are just okay -- but I do like how the plantains added flavor to the dish and I do like the yellow rice. For how much food you got, $16 is such a steal. Couldn't finish more than half of my plate so I had to get a doggybag. I was so full and I imagine that is probably how a python feels after swallowing an entire cow. Would love to try their other dishes like their chaufas or their Arroz Con Mariscos next time I visit Stamford area again.

This place simply is the best restaurant that I have ever been to during the past years. The ahi sauce was the one of a kind. All the food i got here was just simply amazing - i could not stop eating. No many words are needed. Nothing is complex here. Just simply amazingly delicious! I am still craving what I had there: seafood fried rice, Peruvian lo mein noodles, and mussel app.

Large portions! So delicious!!

This was my first experience eating Peruvian food and it was amazing! I've been missing out. We went on a Tuesday night and about 50% of the restaurant was filled. The service was great as all of the waitresses worked together to make sure our needs were met. I don't remember exactly what the dishes we ordered were called but both were phenomenal (see picture). You also get bread with this delicious white sauce that is somewhat spicy. Very unhealthy meal as my plate had French fries, steak, peppers, onions, and rice but amazingly tasteful! The portions were huge that I had enough for lunch the next day! I believe our meal with tip was between $35-$40 total for 2 people; so fairly cheap! Overall I highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Lomo saltado

This would have to be my number 1 choice in lomo saltado in Stamford. The service is fast - both wait staff and the amount of time for the food to come out. Their green sauce is one of the best and I plop copious amounts of it in my dish. It's the right amount of spice and flavor. Other places sometimes have it too spicy or the consistency is too thick. If I lived closer to the cove area, I'd probably order from Viva on the daily.

In NYC we don't have parking lots on restaurants. There's a huge parking lot for customers here. Besides the food is delicious the attention is great, friendly personas will suggest recommendations depending on what you want. Prices are ok, better than expected. Well... next time i'm around i'll stop by.

Milanese de pollo was amazing!!

This place was really good! From the salchipapas to main course. I came with 10 people and as we started eating this place got really packed and really fast. The people ordering out and picking up had this place looking like 42nd street no lie. Not one of the ten people complained about the meal and all said it was good with large portions. I will be coming back again and soon!! I need that spicy sauce that is served!

As many times as I've been here I never thought to write a review. Well that changes today!…read more Decor Clean, dim, fairly small/intimate. It's not so small that you can't move around but during peak hours you may be shoulder to shoulder with another party. BUT if you get there at a decent time you should be good with space. Service Everyone is friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. No complaints here. Food No exaggeration, but I can't remember a time when I had a bad order or something that I wouldn't order again. Here are some of my favorite items: Chaufa - fried rice with your choice of protein. Anything from chicken, pork, fish, and steak. They have it all...and it's all good! Fish Chunks - lightly fried, crispy, seasoned perfectly! Lomos - if you're looking for a hearty meal that will either put you to bed (IMMEDIATELY!) or provide you with a leftover meal for the next day...this is it. I highly recommend upgrading to the Cadillac Lomo which uses filet cuts of steak *chefs kiss* Half or Whole Chicken - if you're looking for something simple. Perfectly seasoned, crispy where it needs to be, and not a dry piece to be found! I'll get that with a side of veggies (which are banging) and I'm straight. Pisco Sour - let me say that the sangrias are good but the Pisco Sour is my 100% go to. I can't even really describe it but trust me...it's good! That's all for my recommendations but honestly I don't think you can make a bad pick even if you don't choose something I detailed above. Also, if you decide to dine in they bring you the warm toasted bread with that Aji Sauce that might as well be liquid gold! Misc. Acuario is consistent with great service and an Aji sauce that will change your life. Until next time...

"Some lunches surprise you. Others quietly raise your standards."…read more We came to Acuario for Restaurant Week, and it felt like one of those rare moments where value and quality meet without compromise. For starters, we had the tostones and the Papa Yuca appetizer. The tostones were crisp and golden with a soft center, paired with salsa criolla and garlic sauce that added brightness and depth. The Papa Yuca was comforting and rich, coated in a creamy sauce that felt balanced rather than heavy. Both dishes tasted intentional, not like scaled back lunch specials. They also brought complimentary bread with aji verde, and that sauce deserves its own recognition. Fresh, herb forward, and slightly spicy, it was incredibly addictive and elevated everything it touched. For the main, we ordered the lomo saltado, and it easily stood out. The beef was tender, the onions and tomatoes were sautéed just right, and the sauce carried bold flavor without overwhelming the plate. The fries held their texture under the sauce, and the rice brought everything together. It may honestly be the best lomo saltado in Stamford. Service was warm and attentive. Even during Restaurant Week, we never felt rushed. Staff checked in thoughtfully and kept the experience smooth from start to finish. The ambiance added to the experience. The space feels welcoming and lively without being chaotic. It has a comfortable neighborhood energy, the kind of place where you can enjoy a relaxed lunch but still feel like you are somewhere special. Acuario delivered on food, service, and atmosphere. Five stars without hesitation.

We walked in and sat at the bar. Andres was very attentive and friendly. we ordered a Pisco Sour and pisco punch and calamari. All good. then my husband decided he wanted ceviche and I ordered chaufa de pollo, and then Tallarines Verdes(to bring home). Our drinks were very good. It took a long time for our food to come because our food was given to someone else. They were apologetic and said they'd give us some special drink pricing. But it was interesting to hear them tell the people next to us that they didn't have to pay for the food that they were accidentally given, even though they sat there and ate the entire thing, while we were the ones waiting and it wasn't even their food! The calamari(although MUCH smaller portion that what we saw at other tables and other people at the bar) and ceviche. the chaufa de pollo were very good. We ate. bit of all and took a lot home. Except my husband ate all of the ceviche... The owner came over and apologized about the wait/error. We got the bill, it was the wrong bill, I told him and he gave us the right one, but no discount or drink special on it... we paid and left. Again food was good, but service from the kitchen was spotty.

The Chupe De Camerones is just so delicious. The half chicken was perfect and they make the best lomo saltado. Yellow sauce on everything. I will say our bread they brought out wasn't toasty like it used to be and the yellow sauce was very cold so bringing those closer to room temp would be ideal. Still five stars. Friendly wait staff!

It wasn't busy and this is a good sized restaurant with plenty of dine in and counter seating and very clean inside this location. They have been open for a month. Although the meat in the lomo saltado was a bit dry and it could have done without the soggy fries under the bed of rice, nothing that a little aji couldn't solve. Nonetheless, for takeout, it's hard to expect much better. We ordered four dishes for five people and the portions were more than enough; we couldn't finish everything! Just as with their food, the takeout service was superb. The restaurant worked with us to schedule an 11am pickup--right at opening time--so we could get the food in time for our event. Overall, we were impressed by the quality of the food, even as we played the role of food critics. Most notably, the authenticity and richness of the food struck us as a quality to remember.
